Chapter 28: Pursuit Of Happiness
~A Few Months Later~
"Come on Teaur, smile for grandma. Pretty please." Honey said as she tried to get Teaur to smile for the camera. Unfortunately, she was as stubborn as her father and grandfather.
On the other hand, Seaur was smiling like there was no tomorrow. He was as bubbly as his mother, yet Teaur was as bullheaded as her father. Honey chuckled as she shook at her head at her granddaughter, to which she laughed slightly at her grandmother's frustration.
"You really are gonna be a little troublemaker aren't you, Teaur?" Honey asked Teaur as she crawled over to her and finally gave her a genuine smile.
"Oh so you can smile for me, but you can't smile for the camera?" Honey asked with a look of astonishment. Teaur simply hid her face from her grandmother as she smiled shyly.
"Thank you for coming, but I don't think we'll be getting any pictures of her anytime soon. Although, I'll still get my grandsons pictures. Is that okay?" Honey asked the photographer who chuckled lightly.
"That's fine, I'll send them to you as soon as they are developed." He said as he put away his equipment and left.
"The main reason why you won't smile is because you're too curious for your own good." Honey said as she tickled Teaur and went back into the other guest room with everyone else.
"Look at how chunky his cheeks are." One Fishwoman said as she pinched Seaur's cheeks.
"Isn't she just adorable in her little dress?" One Fishwoman asked as she held Teaur in her arms, who was staring down Hody Jr. as he sat in the kitchen.
"Go save her Hody, you know what she wants. She won't stop staring you down until you go get her." Ivy said as she washed the dishes, but even with her back being turned she could still feel her daughter's eyes following her every move.
"If she says my name, I'll go get her. Until then, I won't move a muscle." Hody Jr. said as he grinned playfully at his daughter when she began to pout.
"You both will be waiting forever then because she's as stubborn as you are." Ivy said.
"I'm not stubborn." Hody Jr. said as he pouted at her.
Ivy burst into a fit laughter as soon as saw her daughter pouting as well. Hody looked at her irritation as she tried to control her laughter, but she failed miserably.
"If you were looking at what I was trust me you'd be laughing too. She looks just like you." Ivy said as she finally got control of her breathing. Hody Jr. looked back at his daughter and saw that she was frowning at her mother as well.
"Fine, I get it already." Hody Jr. said as he stood up from his chair and went to go get his daughter who almost jumped into his arms. He could only laugh as she held onto him like her life depended on it.
"She's a prime example of the saying 'If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen'." Ivy said as she finished cleaning the dishes.
"She truly is and here comes the other one." Hody Jr. said as he spotted his son trying to get Honey to put him down so he could crawl to the kitchen. Once she put his down he took off like a rocket into the kitchen to his mother.
"Well hello there, is there something I can help you with?" Ivy asked as she picked him up.
"When one of them is getting some attention from one of you, the other one will be coming right along to the other parent for attention. No one can ever say that those two don't love you both very much, and you love them too." Hody said as he sat on one of the arms of a sofa in the guest room.
Ivy and Hody Jr. both smiled at each other as they held their children in their arms.
"Well let's hurry up and blow out the candles, I've waited long enough for a piece of that cake!" Demy said as she began to drool at the thought of sinking her teeth in Ivy's famous marble cake.
"Everybody in the kitchen!" Ivy yelled happily as everyone gathered in the kitchen.
"Today you all gathered here to celebrate the reunion of us and our children. The past is now behind us and we are in the process of creating a new future that will benefit this whole family. Teaur, Seaur, will you please blow out the candles for everybody?" Ivy asked her son and daughter as Hody held them in front of the large cake to blow out the candles.
Everyone clapped and cheered as they blew them out with the help of their father. Soon the day was coming to an end and they were both in bed sleeping soundly.
"Well today was fun." Hody Jr. said as he walked out of the bathroom in his pajama pants. Ivy continued to stand outside of the balcony without making a sound. Hody sighed as he walked up behind her and held her in his arms.
"What are you thinking about?" Hody Jr. asked as he rested his chin on her head.
"Everything has changed so much over the past few months but for some reason it feels too good to be true. I feel bad for thinking of everything so negatively but I can't help it. I don't want to be so blinded by my happiness that I can't see a shadow lurking around in the distance." Ivy said as she looked at the light that shined from the moon above the surface.
"You're not wrong for worrying about them, I'm worried too. The last thing I want to do is lose them forever. I don't think I could live on if anything happened to them, I'm pissed off enough that those bastards used our kids for experiments. On the other hand, I'm very glad that they are both safe, but that still doesn't mean that I should let my guard down." Hody Jr. said.
"Thank you." Ivy said to Hody Jr. as she looked up at him with a soft smile. Hody placed a soft kiss on her lips.
"No, thank you." Hody Jr. said.
"For what?" Ivy asked with a raised eyebrow and a smirk.
"For changing my life, staying in my life, and bringing the greatest treasures I have ever laid eyes on in my life." Hody Jr. said as he smiled down at Ivy as she let a tear fall down her cheek.
I hope you all liked this chapter. I know that I loved writing it, it was so sweet. I am so glad that all the darkness is gone from my story for the time being. Although, there will be a few more crisis until the story is done. Don't worry they will be nowhere near as bad as the last dark chapters I wrote.
