I'm Only Joking

Nerilla was back in that cheap motel room with Gabriel grinning at her. He arched his eyebrows and made this strange sound in his throat. He wasn't the most handsome face around, but it was his charm and his wits that made him attractive.

She rolled her eyes and sat down at the foot of the bed, locking gazes with him.

"So, triple or nothing, right?" she asked and he nodded. "We check in on the Winchesters. Anne probably wants to contact Crowley and knowing Sonny and Cher, they're going to try something." She added and Gabriel clenched his jaw and looked at the wall with a smirk on his face.

"And just what do you suggest?" he asked her, meeting her eyes with that mischief glimmer.

Nerilla crossed her arms over her chest and grinned.

"You're the Trickster, you tell me." she said and smiled sweetly. "I'd just find my way in, avoid Devil's Traps and spy. But you? You can do better than that." She added and Gabriel laughed.

"Did you just pay me a compliment?" he asked and approached her, rubbing his hands together. "Nerilla, the big bad demon saying that I, an angel, can do better than her?" he asked and then she stood up, confronting him with a playful smirk.

"Yeah, but repeat that to anyone and I'll yank the grace right out of you and extinguish it." she said softly with the sweetest voice she could muster. Gabriel only grinned as he closed the gap, but grabbed her hips and pulled her into him, kissing her hard.

Just as quickly as he kissed her, he released her and grabbed her hand, snapping his fingers and standing before the Men of Letters bunker.

Nerilla ripped her hand out of his, smacked his arm and wiped her mouth.

"I hate when you do that." She said and Gabriel chuckled.

"For someone who hates my kisses, you sure don't stop me." he said and was about to smack her ass when she grabbed his wrists and glared at him.

"Don't push it, Angel." she said and pushed his wrist away from her as he grinned mischievously.

Together they walked up to part of the exterior and when Gabriel placed his hand on it, they were standing inside the bunker. Nerilla raised an eyebrow and glanced at him.

"It's that easy?" she whispered. "Do they know that?" she asked and Gabriel only grinned. "Wow, Beavis and Butthead are slipping." She added and got a soft chuckle from Gabriel.

They began walking down the halls, finding their way to the main rooms; wherever the hunters did most of their planning. Suddenly, Nerilla caught Gabriel shimmering beside her and when she glanced over, growled as she stared at Castiel's blue eyes.

"Relax, it's me." he said in Castiel's deep monotone voice. His lips broadened in a smile that wasn't Castiel at all, but Gabriel. If it wasn't for that smile, Nerilla would have believed it really was Castiel.

She glanced down at herself and froze, making a disgusted expression.

"What the fuck am I wearing?" she asked and Gabriel laughed. "Have you no fashion sense?" she asked.

Although it was his laugh, it sounded like Castiel and Nerilla hated it. When she saw a mirror up ahead, she stalked over to it and growled deeper. Gabriel appeared beside her and grinned. Starting at Castiel's face made her anger boil.

"No, Hannah's vessel has no fashion sense. You're playing the role of Hannah, the extremely conservative angel with little facial expressions, besides confused and –" Gabriel said and then Nerilla gave a fake smile, acting friendly. "And that." Gabriel added.

Nerilla turned and tried not to look at Gabriel.

"Let's get this shit over with." She said and began walking away. Gabriel caught up and led the way. "You know, at some point, the Winchesters will know someone invaded their fortress. They'll talk to us and when they talk to the real Castiel and Hannah, there'll be question marks all over their small minds." she added.

"You don't know Castiel like I do." Gabriel said and Nerilla snorted. "The chances are good." He added.

Eventually, they entered the main room where the hunters sat at the tables. When they looked up, they seemed surprised, but for only a second.

"Haven't seen you in a while." Dean said and then they all looked at Nerilla, expression blank. She just mustered that fake smile and they lost interest. They returned their eyes to Castiel and listened. Meanwhile, Nerilla studied Anne and Gadreel. They were an intriguing pair. They were really close, but Anne was grief stricken, even if she tried to hide it. Him, he didn't seem the touchy feely type, but, apparently, he was.

"I've been busy with Heaven." Gabriel said in Castiel voice, mimicking Castiel's monotone emotion perfectly.

Dean nodded his head and looked at Sam, then back at his laptop.

"How are things?" Gabriel asked and they were all silent, looking down, except for Anne.

"Finally gonna help us?" she asked, her voice cold. Nerilla wanted to grin darkly, but had to play her role. So, she made a confused expression, that, apparently, made Anne angry. "We're no closer to contacting Crowley and you don't answer. Too busy with your girlfriend and you're stupid Heaven." She snarled with venom in her voice.

Gadreel placed his hand on hers without looking at her, as if to ease her anger. Did her comment offend him, having once been an angel, devoted to Heaven?

"I'm sorry." Gabriel said and Anne looked away with a clenched jaw. She didn't believe his apology. Who could blame her? Angels were pathetic.

"Just popped in to see how things are going?" Dean asked and looked up, meeting Gabriel's eyes. His expression said that he was suspicious.

"Yes." Gabriel replied and Dean slightly knit his eyebrows as if he really didn't believe it.

"Doesn't sound like you, Cas." He said and looked at Sam who now turned to look at Gabriel. Nerilla was certain that it was about to hit the fan now, but she was going to let Gabriel handle this before she takes over.

"I'm trying to be a good friend." Gabriel said after sighing softly. He sounded sincere and wounded, but Sam and Dean weren't really impressed.

When Gadreel looked at Gabriel, Nerilla was certain that all was about to go down the drain, but after a few seconds, her worries settled down. Human Gadreel didn't recognize Gabriel underneath the guise of Castiel. Interesting. Lost his spidey senses along with his grace.

Gabriel, still playing Castiel, approached and expressed once again how he was trying to be a friend all while helping Heaven get back on its feet. He added that they had no idea what it was like trying to do two things at once.

Was Gabriel really saying things that could relate to Castiel? Or was he talking about himself?

However, that was it; Anne stood up and rage was burning in her eyes.

"Are you fucking kidding me?" she asked and Gadreel stood up, placing his hand in the small of her back, standing close to her. "I still cry over the death of my mother. I still have a hard time getting out of bed in the morning.

"I'm fighting my grief for my mother and I'm trying to get a hold of Crowley because my mother got ripped off and she deserves to get out of Hell.

"You're the one that doesn't know what it's like trying to do two things at once. I'm struggling to deal with her death and I'm doing everything that I can to get her back without losing hope. You don't know fuck all, Cas." She said and spun on her heals, walking out of the room with Gadreel behind her, like a worried little puppy.

Nerilla wanted to grin: trouble in paradise.
