The song here is "Keep Drivin'" by Katharine McPhee
Keep Drivin'
Anne wasn't sure this was a good idea, but she felt like it was the right thing to do. She agreed to Crowley's deal and he then wrote some address on a piece of paper and told her to be at that location in exactly twenty-four hours to finalize the deal and reap in the rewards.
Then Crowley and his demon vanished.
Anne turned to Gadreel and could see the worry written all over his face. He wasn't comfortable with this, but trusted her to make decisions with a clear mind… all the while his eyes looked at her full of concern. It was hard for her not to wrap her arms around him. It seemed he could use it more than her. Hell, he deserved it.
She hugged him tightly as he wrapped his arms around her. She hadn't hugged him like this in a while and it made her feel guilty. There were a lot of things she hadn't done since her mother's death. She wasn't the same person and it wasn't fair to him.
"Thanks for always being there." She whispered into his ear. She remained silent for a few seconds, and then mustered the courage to set the deal in motion. "Should we leave tonight?" she asked. When Gadreel relaxed his hold on her, she pulled back to meet his eyes. She could see that this was something he didn't like, but he nodded anyway. He'd do this for her. "What will we tell the Winchesters?" she asked.
Gadreel pondered for a couple of seconds, and then knew exactly what to do.
"We say nothing." he replied. "We leave quietly when they're asleep that way we avoid suspicion and we're guaranteed they won't follow us." He added and then Anne grinned.
"Well, let's pack." She said and pulled him in for a kiss, one that she hadn't given for a long time, one that he so very much deserved. He seemed slightly stunned, but he quickly returned it and the passion flared into their kiss, making it feel like their first time all over again.
It felt good and Anne needed this.
When Gadreel pulled back, gasping for air, he met her eyes and gave a soft smile. He had felt it, the Anne that he knew was returning. If making a deal with Crowley was going to get her back completely, than he'd leave his worries behind and get to that location in a heartbeat.
"I'll keep an eye on the Winchesters." Gadreel said and kissed Anne softly before leaving. Once he walked out and closed the door behind him, she got out their bags and began packing them as quickly as she could, starting with her Book of Shadows.
Gadreel walked down the hall silently and once he could hear the Winchesters, he stayed still and listened.
At first, he couldn't make out what they were saying, until he caught onto key words and was able to piece them together. They were still planning on bargaining for Heaven's souls. Besides the obvious, why did they care so much? Was it the self-righteous hunter dream to save as many as possible in this world? Was it something that made them comfortable at night? Or was it something they felt they had to pay back?
Yes, Gadreel realized he was a little harsh, but he couldn't understand the personal commitment to these souls. Compared to the Winchesters, his personal commitment was to one person: Anne. He was committed to her because he loved her. So, what was the Winchester's motivation behind bargaining for the souls?
As Gadreel pondered this, the brothers said something else that caught his attention.
"Once those souls are out, we should seal it up." Dean said and Sam was silent for a few seconds that seemed to stretch into minutes.
"Are you saying we continue the trials?" Sam asked and then it was Dean's turn to remain silent.
"There has to be another way." Dean replied. Yet again, Sam was silent for a brief moment.
"There are only the trials which will kill me once Crowley is cured." Sam responded. "And with Clara, there's no way we could finish the job and cure him. And, don't forget Nikolai, the new Knight of Hell, with the Mark of Cain." He added and then both fell silent. Yes, it would be very difficult.
"It's not entirely impossible." Dean said after that silence seemed to last all of eternity.
"Yeah, when was the last time we had that mentality? What did it almost cost us?" Sam asked. "It nearly cost me my life. Think of all the times we thought like that. Think of everything we lost." He added, then Dean's voice pierced through his brother's and echoed in the bunker.
"I do!" Dean said, and both fell into silence. "I always do." he added and paused. "We lost so much and we have nothing left. I want this finished so it stops there. No one has to lose anymore. People like Anne and Gadreel that can have a future where nothing tears their lives apart." He concluded and both were silent.
Now, Gadreel could understand. It wasn't the self-righteous dream to save the world; it was the desire to make it a better one for others so they wouldn't know the feeling of losing loved ones.
"It's not true that we have nothing left." Sam said and both were silent for a brief moment. "We have each other. Always have, always will." He added and paused. "But if we attempt to cure Crowley, we might lose each other and there will be no coming back, no getting another chance." He concluded and that was the end of it.
Now Gadreel understood and felt bad for being so judgmental. However, he couldn't quite grasp the idea that closing Hell would help Anne, although he admired Dean for thinking of them. All Anne wanted was her mother. If they seal Hell, that might leave her mother in that place forever. And if the Winchesters wouldn't comply or understand that, then they would deal with Crowley to get Viviane back. Then if the brothers want to seal Hell, go for it. Maybe they could get all those souls out, but it wouldn't be at the price of one so dear to Anne.
