Beautiful Lie
It was decided that Clara would speak with her mother and withdraw information. Her as much as Crowley refused to believe that her mother wasn't useless to them in some way. There was no way they were going to release her soul before getting something in return. If information was all they were going to get, then they were going to get it by any means necessary.
Crowley wanted to go with her, but he knew he had to prepare for the deal. Transferring a soul from Hell to Heaven was never as easy as it sounded. It involved a lot of paper work.
"We'll talk tonight." Clara said sweetly and kissed his lips with passion. That eased his mind, but he still wished he could be there, at least to see the look on the old hag's face when she sees the baby bump.
He watched as his Queen left with the Knight of Hell shortly behind her, including her Hellhound, and he turned to Nerilla, getting ready for business.
As Clara walked down the halls, Nikolai walked with pride, sneering at the demons they passed along the way. Then, one stared at Clara's stomach a little longer than preferred. It wasn't so much that, but the way he stared. It sent a chill down Clara's spine and Nikolai reacted as if he could sense it.
"Keep it moving or I'll cut you open and watch your smoke evaporate." He said coldly and the demon quickly exited the hall and vanished.
When Clara glanced at Nikolai, he met her eyes and grinned.
"You enjoy being the Knight of Hell." She said and his grinned broadened mischievously. "And the Mark of Cain has its advantages I suppose." She added and he winked at her.
"Instant respect." He said and she gave a slight grin.
"Or fear." She said and he let out a sharp laugh.
"In Hell, it's all the same." He replied. "Like you don't know that." He added as Ginger growled, as if in agreement, and she grinned darkly as they continued down the endless corridors.
Once they entered the dark hall of cells, Nikolai stayed behind as agreed. Clara continued and when she stopped before the cell, her mother was crouched in the corner and lifted up her eyes and hissed. Clara naturally let out a laugh and couldn't help but see her mother as a wild caged animal. Even Ginger seemed to take joy in this.
Then, she heard her mother gasp. After a few seconds, she approached and gripped the bars of her cell with her bony fingers. She stared at Clara's stomach with horror: wide eyes, dropped jaw and pale face, as if it couldn't be any whiter.
"What in God's name have you done?" she asked, lifting her eyes up to Clara. Ginger let out a snarl and even curled back her lips, putting fear into Clara's mother.
"I don't allow swearing in my house." Clara said with a mocked angry expression, as if she didn't know what her Hellhound was doing. "And sort of calling the kettle black, aren't you?" she asked and then her mother growled, but it sounded nothing like a demon… just an old woman clearing her throat.
"Your father violated me!" she said and Clara rolled her eyes and then narrowed her eyes on her mother. "I didn't plan on getting pregnant with you. If I had a choice, I never would have." She said and her eyes were dark, as if hoping that would hurt Clara.
It didn't, not when it's all you've ever know your whole childhood.
"Oh, don't I make you proud, Mama?" Clara asked, mockingly. Her mother made a disgusted expression, especially towards her baby, and then turned away. Clara's rage began to boil, but she knew how to hurt her mother. She always did. "When my Hellhound dragged you down here, I thought of all the wonderful things we could do together, and by that, I mean me torturing and you screaming. But then I thought the best thing for you is to sit in darkness and listen to endless silence, knowing that no one is missing you. Then, to my surprise, someone actually did." She said and her mother slowly turned as if this stunned her as well.
"Your grandmother." She said as if stupefied. Then, she grinned and lifted up her chin. "You can't disobey your precious grandmother." She added with now a large grin.
"That's exactly how I felt." Clara said and her mother was grinning ear to ear. "But my darling husband reminded me that, being Queen of Hell, I don't have to listen to anyone. I can do anything I want and if that means letting you rot here, so be it." she added and laughed as her mother lost her grin.
"Let me go." Her mother said weakly. Now it was Clara's turn to grin.
"All depends." She said and grinned darkly as her mother looked hopeful. "You're going to tell me everything you know." She added and then her mother frowned and was about to turn her back. "Your choice: tell me everything you hid from me or stay here forever… maybe even become Ginger's chew toy." She added.
Her mother remained still, but eventually faced Clara with defiant eyes.
"Like what? Why would I want to remember those horrible days with you?" she asked and tried to curl her lips back. However, Ginger growled and showed her how it's done. "You were a –" she added and Clara cut her off before she could get the rest of her sentence out.
"Nightmare? To say the least?" Clara asked.
"That would be putting it nicely." Her mother replied with cold dead eyes. "I've got nothing for you." She added and remained silent. Clara waited for her mother to say something else and when she didn't, she felt her rage boil and then her daughter reacted. At that moment, her mother fell to her knees, howling in pain. Clara titled her head, thinking how her mother was suffering when she didn't snap her fingers. However, her powers were unstable with her pregnancy and her daughter's powers must be working in sync with her own.
Interesting.
"My daughter doesn't like it when someone angers me." Clara said and her mother lifted up her eyes in a cold glare. "So, I suggest you tell me about the early days; the ones where I was too young to remember anything." she added and waited. Her mother licked her lips and Clara smirked, knowing her mother was going to obey.
"You were born prematurely, but you were fully developed." Her mother said, not looking up at her daughter. "Then, you grew faster that naturally. It wasn't until you were growing older than you began to age slowly. It was so strange." Her mother added and then paused. Clara was ready to inflict more pain, but remained patient. Then, her mother finally looked up at her and for the first time, her eyes were soft.
"If there was ever a time I loved you, it was when you were a baby." She said and Clara was stunned. However, her mother's eyes turned cold and it sickened Clara. Her mother couldn't even stop being a cold hearted bitch for a few minutes. "As soon as you began crawling, you caused me problems; you cost me money, relationships and my life." She added and Clara smirked, rolling her eyes.
And she thought her mother had something useful for her? Must have been the damned hormones.
"Even after death, you make my existence miserable." She said and Clara couldn't take it anymore. Just one shot of a cold glare at her mother sent her hard against the wall of her cell and kept her there by her demonic power. Then, her mother was gasping for air and it seemed like the air was being sucked out of her, making her skin wrap about her bones tightly.
"The only one who made your so called existence miserable was you, Mother Dearest. You made that choice. You have only yourself to blame. You could have loved me, embraced me, but you chose to hate and fear me.
"I'd like for nothing but to torture you like only my husband knows how, but I'll just torture you my way." Clara said and then her mother's eyes opened wide with fear. She stunk of fear and it made Ginger growl with anticipation and crouch into attack mode, ready to sink her fangs into the woman's soul.
Her mother tried to say something, but it was just strange sounds. It made Clara grin darkly.
"I will forever take satisfaction in the fact that I'll be a better mother than you." She said and released her mother, turning away and ignoring the savage sounds her mother was making.
