Paranoid

They turned into the parkling and saw Anne's two-door 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 LS6, the only car there. Once the Impala came to a stop and the engine was turned off, Sam and Dean wasted no time in getting into the bar to find out if they were on time or too late.

Their minds swirled with so many questions and possible outcomes, that in a sick way, it drove them to focus. It was their programmed hunter minds to prepare themselves for another hunt that could go horribly wrong.

At that moment, there was a shriek and they froze, looking all around them to pinpoint the source of the strange sound. When their gazes returned to the bar, there stood a woman and they knew she was a demon. As they approached with large strides, she smiled wickedly and when she blinked, her eyes were black.

"The Winchesters." She said with a low growl in her throat. "I'm gonna have to see your invitation." she added and when Dean pulled out Ruby's old knife, she giggled darkly. "That's right, you didn't get one." She said and then her smile curled into a dark grin. "So leave."

"Make us." Dean replied.

"We've killed many demons." Sam said and the demon made a mocking horrified expression. "Don't think we won't kill you." He added and she grinned once again.

"You can try, but something tells me you'll fail… epically." She said and then someone cleared their throat behind them.

When Sam and Dean turned around, there was a familiar face, one they wanted to tear off.

"So we meet again, even though I said we shouldn't." Nikolai said and placed his hands into his jean pockets.

"You son of a bitch." Dean said and Nikolai mockingly placed a hand over his heart.

"That's my mother you're talking about." He said and then flashed them a grin. "Although, you have a point, but name calling is sort of useless." He added and then crossed his arms over his chest, smirking.

From behind them, the other demon approached and the brothers had to make sure that they each locked gazes with a demon. Dean watched the woman as Sam stared at Nikolai with loathe for once having trusting him.

"I believe you've met my colleague, Nerilla." Nikolai said and neither brother responded or shattered their angry stares. "Hate to break it to you boys, but she's not just any demon; she's Lieutenant." He added and Sam snorted as if that didn't mean anything to him. "She's eager to please Clara and Crowley, so slicing off your pretty heads won't be a struggle." He concluded and Sam narrowed his eyes at him.

"And you?" he asked and Nikolai laughed.

"Knight of Hell, yielder of the First Blade, bearer of the Mark of Cain." He said with pride. "I'm clearly the threat here, but I really have to say that Nerilla has the most ambition between the two of us." He said. "She's just as driven as I am."

Nerilla smiled and Dean tightened his grip on the demon killing knife and tried to think of a way around this situation. He had to get inside the bar and around the demons. It seemed like an impossible task, but they had faced many of those and won. This was no different.

At that moment, there was the sound of flapping wings echoing in the air. When Dean turned to look, there stood Castiel and a couple other angels.

Nikolai turned and smirked at the angels as they glared at him.

"Welcome to the party." He said and then when the sound of an opening door cracked through the silence, Sam and Dean turned to see Anne, Gadreel and a woman walk out of the bar. Whatever happened in there was over and now they wondered what were the consequences that had to be paid. "Just missed it." Nikolai added and then both him and Nerilla disappeared before any warning.

Dean turned his gaze to Castiel with annoyance as Sam continued to stare at Anne who was approaching them with a difficult expression to read. Then, the brothers separated. Dean approached Castiel as Sam closed the gap between him and Anne.

The other angels vanished, but Dean was sure that they were checking out the bar. He was ready to unleash some anger on his so called friend.

"Where were you?" Dean asked and Castiel seemed a little taken back. "I tried calling you and you never answered." He added and Castiel looked a little sympathetic, but his eyes were hard as if Dean should readjust his tone of voice.

"We've been sensing a surge of power from Hell these last few days." Castiel replied and Dean narrowed his eyes. "Heaven's been very busy, trying to gather strength to face whatever it is Crowley is up to." He added and Dean could no longer hold it in.

"Heaven or you?" Dean asked and Castiel looked slightly more sympathetic and when Castiel didn't reply, Dean walked away to join his brother.

Before Sam could speak a word, Gadreel stood between them, yet again shielding Anne.

"What did you do?" he asked Gadreel and watched as he clenched his jaw tightly and frowned deeply, forming hard creases in his face.

"If you're going to be angry, direct it towards me." he said in his raspy voice. There was this hard look in his eyes that said that there was no shame in what they did. Whatever happened, they were okay with it.

"What did you do?" Sam asked Anne and she continued to stare at him with hard eyes.

"I got my mother back." she replied coldly and brushed up hard against him as she walked to her car with her mother. Gadreel glared at Sam and then at Dean who joined them, then followed Anne to the car.

The brothers exchanged glances and knew they were missing something. They stood in place, staring at the bar, wondering just what was going on. Dean told his brother what Castiel had said and it was obvious that something wasn't right. They had to find out just what surge of power Castiel was talking about and what had happened between Anne and Crowley, since no one was telling them.
