The sleeping quarters were silent, it was four in the morning and Piper couldn't sleep. She couldn't tell if she felt guilty or hungry, but given her actions lately, it was safe to assume the former was true. She felt guilty. So fucking guilty. Alex had violated parole and was under the impression it was her own doing, Piper of course, knew this wasn't the case.
Since Alex had returned to Litchfield, her spirits seemed more dampened, but she and Piper had been on fire together. Things had never been better. The thought made Piper smile.
"Psst..."
Piper heard the sound from behind her, she didn't move. She continued staring at the blank wall in front of her, her back turned to the doorway.
"Piper?" The rich voice prompted. Relief and concern flushed through Piper's mind. It was Alex. Piper heard Alex approach her bed, Piper didn't have a roommate, not since Amber had been transferred. She did her best to appear to be asleep. The guilt she felt only grew worse with time, and the so did the fear of losing Alex if Alex ever found out.
She felt Alex slide onto the bed, grazing her nose gently against the back of Piper's neck. A moan escaped Piper's lips.
"Mm, remember that passion fruit shampoo in Bali?" Alex asked.
Piper couldn't help but smile as she caved, "it was delicious." She answered turning over in bed to face the brunette.
"You nearly drank it." Alex said with an amused grin, Alex's eyes were soft yet certain. Relaxing and disarming but sharp and intense, just like Alex herself. And right now, this commitophobic, rule-breaking, adventurous woman was gazing into Piper's pearly blue eyes as if she were the most beautiful and infallible creature on the planet, and it made Piper hate herself.
"I can't believe I was considering leaving the state..." Alex said after a moment, her expression grew serious. Piper listened intently, she knew Alex meant whatever she said, "I don't think I'd be able to survive without seeing you."
"Well, it's a good thing you're back in the Litch." Piper said, gingerly testing the waters. Alex's face fell.
"Yeah, here I am."
Piper noticed the change in Alex, "what's wrong?"
Alex blinked back tears, but managed to maintain her composure as she spoke softly, "this is all I'm good for now... Prison."
"And me..." Piper added, trying to lighten the mood. She couldn't stand to see Alex distressed, it only made Piper feel more guilty than before.
Piper suddenly planted her lips against Alex's, a surprised Alex hesitated as Piper kissed her slowly then returned the kiss, savouring every moment of it as the kiss ignited into a heated make out session. After a few moments, Piper pulled out of the kiss, Alex turned her attention to Piper's neck, kissing it softly and moving down.
"Alex, we'll get caught..." Piper whispered, doing her best not to enjoy where Alex was headed.
Alex reluctantly stopped kissing Piper, "come on, it's not like you have a roommate." She smiled as she spoke, Piper forced herself to avoid eye contact with the alluring brunette. If there was one thing Piper could not resist in this world, it was Alex Vause. But she felt as if she was taking advantage of Alex in a way, by lying to her. She felt bad...that was the only way to describe it, Piper felt bad.
"So, what did you get up to on the outside? Other than being locked in an apartment with surveillance i mean." Piper tried, Alex cocked an eyebrow at her.
"Really? That's what you wanna talk about when I'm lying in your bed at four in the morning, trying to kiss you?"
"I'm curious." Piper said with a shrug.
"I caught up with an old acquaintance...but mostly, I was alone."
"Who did you catch up with?"
Alex shifted, it was her turn to feel uncomfortable. This bothered Piper.
"Alex?"
"It's not important."
"Alex..." Piper held her gaze.
"You remember Sylv, right?-"
Piper's eyes grew wide with jealousy and scandal, "what?!" Piper whispered angrily, "you get out and the first person you meet is your ex girlfriend?!"
Alex laughed softly, "Are you jealous?"
Piper shoved her gently, forcing her to get out of Piper's bed.
"This is not a joke. This is not a laughing matter." Piper scolded while keeping her voice as low as possible. Alex grinned at her, "Pipes, come on...don't be ridiculous."
"Alex," Piper said, her face serious, "I love you. I fucking love you. You don't get to meet up with exes when you have someone who fucking loves you."
"You fucking love me? You also just fucking kicked me out of bed..."
Piper gave her an exasperated look. Alex cupped Piper's face, Piper batted her hand aside and held her gaze, "did you and Sylv...?" She trailed off, but her worried eyes gave away what she wanted to ask.
"Fuck?" Alex asked with a playful smirk, Piper smacked Alex in the arm.
"I'm serious!" Piper exclaimed, then quickly lowered her own voice, "I'm serious!" She repeated, "you can't just be with me then be with Sylv then switch back to me—"
"Piper-"
"I mean God, Alex! If you had sex with someone else while you were out, after every thing...!—"
"—Piper...shut up." Alex ordered, Piper fell silent. Alex leant in close. Piper shut her eyes as Alex's nose grazed hers.
"I want you, Pipes. Sylv was just dropping me off some clothes and supplies. I want you. I want us. I want us to be a thing."
Piper beamed at Alex, "That is the greatest thing you have ever said to me."
Alex laughed, "well, that's sort of insulting."
"Shut up—" Piper ordered as she clutched Alex's hair and kissed her passionately, Alex pushed herself against Piper, longing to feel Piper against her. And like it always was, it felt electric.
Piper moaned softly as Alex kissed her tentatively, her hands slid down from her back to her waist. Piper pulled Alex onto the bed and wrapped her arms around Alex's neck as Alex's hands found Piper's bare hips beneath her shirt.
