Chapter 19: New Foes
I stifled a yawn as I stared out the gloomy blank windows. It was quite dark outside, everything was barely visible. Hei was sitting beside me, looking like he was drifting off. His head was slightly leaning to the left, which was the right side of my shoulder.
We were on a plane to Hokkaido, which was to my delight. Although it was only suppose to take one and a half hour or so, I was already getting pretty bored here. So, I spent my time daydreaming or staring without purpose at the scene outside. Hei on the other hand had stayed upright without adjusting his seat or anything. That was until now, he had finally gotten tired and dozed off. To be honest, I would have taken the chance right now and started drawing fake mustache on his face but I somehow couldn't be bothered. Instead, I resumed my task of gazing out the window, and now eventually at Hei, waiting for him to wake up so there was someone to talk to.
The only reason we were here in the first place was because we had to somehow figure out how to use a weapon that was supposed to be more powerful than any other and then secure it to the research facility in Hokkaido. In addition to that, we also had to discover where they hid most of the time. I don't get why we have to work out how to use it, I thought that was a task for the scientists right? The other thing was we had to get it done by tonight, which was pretty tiring. We were going to get off the plane, and then head straight to the target. I sighed at the fact every time I thought about it. Why couldn't we have a holiday or something?
"Good evening passengers. We shall be landing at Hokkaido Airport in approximately 15 minutes. Please fasten your seat belts and it is advised not to leave your seat. Thank you!"
Hei stirred at this, and lifted himself straight.
"Are we there yet?" he asked groggily.
"15 minutes." I muttered back, not trying to hide my yawn this time.

It was already 8:49 pm when we finally got out of the airport. It wasn't like we had a bunch of luggage or anything, and yet it took so long since there was a "passenger jam" in front.
"Come on." Hei indicated and we strolled out. It was snowing when I took a deep refreshing breath of night air. I shivered slightly, wrapping my hands together. How I wish I brought a larger coat.
By now we had walked into a dark alleyway and dressed in our mission outfits. I drew the hood of my cloak over my head, it at least provided some heat. We walked on, slowly breaking into a run, until we reached some sort of park and there was a truck parked on the side.
"That's it." Hei whispered to it as we rolled sideways inside the bushes and hedges and became part of it. I left Hei at our hiding place and skirted our surroundings still hidden. It seemed that no one was guarding it or anything on the outside, that only left the inside. Taking a peek at the driver's seat, it was empty.
"Hei" I panted as I approached him "Its clear, only the inside unchecked." Hei nodded and the two of us darted to either side of the truck and sneaked to the back. 3,2,1. We flung the door open and sprang inside.
It was empty, except for a wooden box that lay at the very end. Looking pretty innocent, I would have thought it was something pretty ordinary if I hadn't known it was containing a dangerous weapon. Together we crept inside and stood before it, wondering what spectacular thing was going to meet our eyes.
Before we could open it however, there was a BANG! The door behind them slammed shut.
And of course, we were trapped.
"Too careless." slamming my fist against the side of the truck. There was a rumble and we could feel the ground underneath us shake, it looks like we were moving.
We were silent for quite some time, each lost in thought. Until I voiced the question that kept bugging me.
"Hei, why do you think they don't just kill us?"
"I don't know." I could tell he had been thinking about the same thing. Indeed, why not just kill us and drive the truck away? Well, perhaps they could have thought about the probability of not being able to beat us, but then again they had many minions at their feet, does it matter?
"Either ways, we should get out of here." I suggested.
"No, this is perhaps better. We need to find out their plans and base anyway." Hei replied.
"Fine." I sighed. "But in the mean time, should we try to get this thing to work." I indicated at the wooden box, still there untouched.
We approached it, looking at it slightly curiously. I raised a hand to its lid, only to find my hand being flung back, a painful heat running through it. I clutched my still burning hands to my chest and gritted my teeth. It was Hei's turn. He too raised his hand and placed it on its lid, and he looked finer than ever.
"Wow" I said as I edged closer, still apprehensive about the push back. What we saw next was completely out of my imagination. It just couldn't be there, it just doesn't fit. How could something like that be considered as a deadly weapon?
The black velvet glittered slightly around the ornament. Carefully embedded in its bed, was a pink frying pan.
We both stared at it dumbstruck, was this suppose to be the "legendary powerful weapon"? Hei just stood there, holding it limply in his hands. After a few seconds of silence, I couldn't hold it in much longer. I burst out with laughter, it was just too much for my mind.
"What are we suppose to do with this? Cook with it?" I said in between giggles.
Hei was still serious, I honestly don't know how he managed that. " We should take it and get out now."
I nodded, trying to suppress my laughter. Just then, the truck came to an abrupt halt, and I tottered towards the sides of the truck. Both of us instantly regained our calm imposture and analyzed the situation. Hei signaled with his hand to move outside, and I complied.
The refreshing air swooshed past my bare cheeks, almost drawing my hood back down towards my back. Grabbing it quickly, I managed to secure it on my head and protect my identity. Fallen leaves of all shapes and sizes were flowing madly down from various places in the raging wind.
"What do you think about the weapon?" Came a voice from above.
I spun around. A figure was sitting on the top of the truck Hei and I just emerged from. We instantly sprang backwards, drawing distance between us and the person.
"How do you think you will even use that?" he said sarcastically. "Its not even a weapon."
Hei turned towards the pink frying pan he still held in his hands, obviously thinking what we all were.
"Naturally, we wouldn't leave the real thing within the grasp of BK201 and KS917, that would be stupid." He drawled on. For a moment I had the urge to just pin him down on the floor and get over with this. But then again, we needed the real weapon and not just some stupid pink frying pan.
"Suppose we should get on now" the figure said abruptly and took a glance at his watch. With incredible grace, he landed with a gentle thud on the concrete opposite us. He had flowing blue hair which was slightly messy and untidy, reaching down towards his bottom. His eyes were a darker shade of the sky and even his clothes were blue. He looked just like a piece out of the ocean.
"My name is Sora." He gave a little bow. "Now, we should start you know?" He continued, drawing small needles from an inside pocket.
He pounced towards me with a grin that obviously said "Gotcha" but I cartwheeled in the air, spinning myself to somewhere further back. Holding my hands out, Kuro Sakura shimmered into view and I ran towards the enemy. He dodged here and there as I failed to touch him. He darted towards mid air and I saw my chance. Raising my right hand high, my eyes glowed red and a black hole appeared directly above my head.
It missed, although when he emerged his body was covered in gashes that splattered red here and there. "That was close" he panted as he landed a few feet away. I made to move but Hei came before me. Rampaging towards Sora, Hei drew his wire and it weaved its way around the many desperate attacks that were launched. Finding its way to the neck, it wrapped itself firmly there. His body was writhing, but as the electric current dulled his senses, he lay motionless on the floor, unable to move once more.
"Where is it?" I demanded.
Sora coughed and spluttered "As expected...of the Gr...and Mast..er."
I walked forwards and placed my high heels on his chest. "Where is it?"
"In the... wo..ods 1 km...fro.m h..ere." He said, stopping every now and then as the life ebbed out of his body.
I stared at him and he smiled.
"It shall reject the touch of the dark. Embrace the one whos soul is not yet devoured." Sora said it clearer then ever, only leaving us to ponder his words.
"What does that mean?" I said harshly.
But he only laughed weakly, his eyes blurred as it went out of focus.
He was dead, leaving the riddle lingering behind.
To be continued...
