The Devil Takes Care of His Own

Shortly after Clara and Nikolai left, Nerilla entered the office and closed the door. Crowley didn't have to say it; she began talking before the door even clicked closed. Then she spoke too fast and he had to lift a hand, where she took it from the top, but slowly this time.

"It's bad." She said and Crowley could tell just by her facial expression. "The angels have caught on, but to what extent, I don't know. They'll have to see it and the Queen isn't safe out there. They might follow her." she said and began speeding up in her speech. Crowley raised his hand once again, and she took a couple of seconds to calm herself. "However, there is one that has figured it out." she said and Crowley arched an eyebrow to get her to tell him exactly who she was referring to. "Gabriel." She said and Crowley tried not to clench his jaw or his fists. However, nothing would stop him from speaking out his rage.

"Should have known your toying with him would cause us trouble." He said in his low and raspy voice, which made her feel guilty. And she should be. What demon makes an alliance with an angel? Well, he did long ago with Castiel, but that was different. At least he didn't sleep with him!

Before she could defend her relationship with the angel, Crowley continued with the same tone.

"And if he knows, you can rest to sure the Winchesters will." He added and she seemed to doubt him, but remained silent. "What have you told him?" he asked her and her face paled and she took two seconds too much than Crowley cared for in order to respond. At that point, he no longer held back the anger from rising into his eyes.

"Nothing." she quickly said and he could see she was telling the truth. That seemed to calm his rage, for only a brief moment. He wasn't pleased with the angels having any clue about Clara's pregnancy, especially one such as Gabriel!

Nerilla's eyes hardened in a way that intrigued Crowley and he allowed her to continue.

"I'd rather lose him then the Queen and the Princess." She added and he didn't doubt her loyalty to his beloved Queen of Hell. "I didn't deny or confirm a thing, but I really can't say if he intends to do anything." she added and Crowley gave a dark menacing grin which made her lower her eyes. She loved that angel. How sickening. If Clara didn't like her so much, he would kill her just for disgusting him.

"Don't be so sure. He's an angel, even if he is rogue; his nature compels him to fight alongside of those morons." He said and looked down at his desk, putting a plan in place. If Clara really wasn't safe out there, he had to send out his line of defense and he only had the angel-crazed lieutenant to lead it; not something that made him feel comfortable.

"Don't judge a book by its cover." Said a familiar voice and when Crowley looked up, when Nerilla turned, there stood Gabriel with that mischievous grin. Crowley stood up and balled up with fists, placing his knuckles down on the desk, glaring at the angel. At that moment, he summoned Juliet and within seconds, a deep and hostile growl erupted and broke the silence. Gabriel glanced down in the direction of the Hellhound and placed his hands up in the air, maintaining that grin.

"Easy." He said as if he just had some guy point a gun in his back and it was no big deal.

"No angel can enter Hell!" Crowley roared and the fires of Hell flicked aggressively behind him. Nerilla winced and she didn't dare turn and look at her King.

Gabriel let out a short laugh and, if it was possible, that grin seemed to be growing. Did he take pleasure if annoying the king of Hell?

"This one did." He teased and when Crowley's rage began to burn and the fires began to grow like boney hands rising from beneath the floor, Gabriel let out a friendlier laugh and took a step forward and stopped when the Hellhound snarled. "I learnt the secret backdoor years ago. I'm the only one that knows about it and even if the others did, they would never step foot here." He added, but that didn't calm Crowley's rage.

"And just how long ago was that? Back when you met a lunatic of a demon who was looking for a celestial prick?" Crowley asked and Gabriel glanced at Nerilla, who seemed to have winced once again, nearly trembling.

"No." Gabriel said firmly and his mischief fell, revealing a rare sight: a serious side of Gabriel. "She had nothing to do with this. She refused to tell me anyway and I thought I'd drop in to see the happy mother-to-be." He added and the mischief slowly began to crawl back to the surface of his face. "On accounts, I've met her when she was a baby, so I'm a distant old friend." He concluded and Crowley stood tall with a deep frown.

"Nonsense." Crowley argued, but Gabriel's grin proved the angel was telling the truth. "Her mother never said anything about you." He added and Gabriel's grin grew.

"That's because I took her memory." He replied and Crowley felt that rage return. The two stared at each other and the tension was intense; Nerilla could no longer control herself. She began trembling and Crowley, infuriated with her, snarled at her to leave.

As she did, Gabriel brushed his hand against hers and looked over his shoulder as she left the room and walked briskly away. When he returned his gaze to Crowley, he could see the rage ready to explode furiously.

"Sit and do tell." Crowley said, despite his calm tone of voice, he was ready to kill. Gabriel maintained his grin and approached, taking the chair in front of Crowley's desk. He sat down and just stared at the King of Hell, as if enjoy his anger.

"Clara was just a baby." He said and Crowley took his chair and sat back, elbow on the arm of the chair and hand placed under his jaw as his finger outlined the side of his face, his eyes dark and piercing. He seemed calm, but he was anything but that.

"She remembers her mother attempting to kill her." Crowley said and the corner of Gabriel's lips twitched, as if that stung. "Seems you weren't there." He said coldly, not saying that he really believed the Archangel.

Gabriel sat back and clenched his jaw briefly.

"I was, more than you know."
