Okay! Sorry, but no one correctly predicted our guest, but in your defense, I madeit pretty hard so I hope this will be a HUGE shock. our guest is...

"Kim?!" Shane shouted. Claire began to turn, before feeling something sharp press against the back of her scalp.

"Shane, step away from her before I launch this arrow into her big brain."

Claire's heart rate spiked and she felt something warm and liquid run down her neck. Oh yeah, the bite.

Oops.

Shane stepped away from Claire, fear visible in his eyes and she forced a smile, I'm okay, she mouthed. She saw the muscles in Shane's jaw tense and he turned to see Alucard still holding Brandon, clearly torn between letting him go to save Claire's life, or killing him and potentially Claire as well.

"Let him go, damn it!" Shane shouted, "We can deal with the pedophile later, but I'm not going to let you kill Claire!"

Alucard looked at Amelie and she shook her head. Shane was outraged.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?"

"If I am correct, I'll assume that even if my valuable, however uncouth, guard lets Brandon go unharmed, that very arrow will remain at the back of Claire's head as an ongoing threat to get what you want, so there would be no point. Correct?"

Claire felt the pressure of the arrow falter for a moment before returning and guessed that Amelie was right and Kim's plan was crumbling.

"Also," Amelie continued, "that you didn't see this plan as a way to aid Brandon, but as a way to get Miss. Danvers out of the way of your little crush. Am I still correct, Kimberly?"

Kim screamed so loud that Claire cringed, "Shut up! Just shut up! Say another word and I will shoot this arrow through her stupid head! She doesn't deserve you Shane!" Shane's eyes widened when she addressed him, "Don't you understand?" Her voice took on a dangerously desperate tone, bordering on the edge of manic giggles, "We belong together. I can give you so much more than she can. Face it, you don't want some scrawny, nerdy, freak, you want someone with a much fuller figure than that. I can keep you happy and satisfied and not run off to my psycho boss every second. Besides, you have to know those two have something on the side—"

Claire's eyes had begun to tear up as Kim's words stung her over and over again; afraid Shane might begin to see these things, but at the very mention that Claire could be cheating, her tears of sadness turned into ones of intense anger.

So fast, no one expected it, Claire spun at top speed and knocked the bow to the ground as the arrow shot out of it, slicing her hand, but she didn't even notice due to the adrenaline running fast through her blood. She quickly dove, got the bow, reloaded the arrow that was on the ground and pointed it directly between Kim's eyes, ignoring the dizziness as she lost more blood, "Don't. Even. Go. There. I never have— and never will have— a romantic interest in my boss, or anyone else but Shane, for that matter. Say whatever you want about me, but don't you even think about trying to tell Shane I would even consider cheating on him."

Claire heard a sickening snap and a loud thud, but didn't look back. She didn't think she could stomach it, and another guard Claire didn't recognize came up behind Kim, wrapping her arms behind her back and dragging her off to wherever. Claire didn't really care. The adrenaline was wearing off and she was feeling the cut in her hand. Her arm shook while struggling to keep the string of the bow pulled back and loaded.

"Claire?" Shane touched her shoulder and she jerked. His hand disappeared and he stepped into her view, but not in front of her because she was still holding the bow. She couldn't move.

"Hey. It's okay, put it down." Finally, Claire was able to slowly release the string and Shane took the weapon from her, dropping it onto the street behind him and cupping Claire's face in his large hands, "I don't think those things. I just want you to know that." Claire nodded and her eyes closed briefly before opening them tiredly to look at Shane.

"Is it over?"

He nodded, "Yeah, it's over."

Claire sighed, "Don't let me fall." She caught Shane's confused look as she closed her eyes and finally let everything go black.
