Her grandfather had passed away a few years before and left her his land in Stardew Valley, and she finally decides that it's time to try her hand at restoring the old run-down farm that she so fondly remembers.

While conducting an antiquarian tour of coastal settlements in southern Ferngill, an inquisitive recent graduate travels to an isolated place with a rich and shadowed history. Upon meeting the locals, including an unnaturally pale youth she gets captivated by, the narrator starts to suspect that the inhabitants of Pelican Town might not be what they seem.

She's angry all of the time. Dr. Harvey said, it's hormones. No it's not! It's this stupid town, and her worthless life, and her boneheaded parents! And her dumb friends, and this dumb summer, and the dumb storage room, and her hand in Sam's dumb penguin boxers, and this dumb expression on his adorab— DUMB face! "I-I think I love you," Sam mumbles. Uuuugh!
