No Ordinary Love

Clara gently stroked her daughter's cheeks and lifted up her little hands with one finger. After a minute or so, her daughter wrapped her little fingers around hers. It made her chuckle softly and she glanced up at Crowley, smiling and glowing. He met her eyes and smiled, darkness dancing in his eyes.

He was so proud.

"We have made a wonderful child." He said softly and a tear formed in her eye.

"Yes, we did." She said, leaning into him again and cradling their daughter. "But if you want another one, you're having it." she said, making him grin. That was unbearable pain that she never wanted to experience again, but for Keara, it was worth it.

Crowley had his arms wrapped around the both of them and time left them untouched, so it appeared. It felt like hours that they've been sitting there, staring at Keara's perfect little face. It made every hardship Clara ever endured melt away like it was no longer part of her existence. Her grandmother was right; when Keara's born, everything that once hurt won't matter.

Clara glanced up at Crowley and a tear rolled down her cheek. He caught it and she could see something in his eyes; something she had never before seen. She could feel that he wanted to say something, but he didn't seem to know how.

"Back at the apartment, when I…" he said, unable to say the words. "I didn't…" he said and he tightened his lips and then just forced it out, his eyes turning nearly red from his demonic essence, as if fighting the words. "I'm sorry." He finally said and Clara knew it wasn't easy for him, which is why she appreciated it so dearly. She smiled sweetly and buried her face in his chest.

And, even though she deserved that apology, she knew he wouldn't have snapped if she had stopped putting so much significance on Anne and Viviane. Yes, they were family, but Keara should have come first.

"I'm sorry too." She said and he seemed slightly stunned as he knit his eyebrows. However, he glanced down at her and gave a slight smile. Everything was fine between them and better, now that they had Keara.

At that moment, Crowley could hear nothing but silence and after a few seconds, knew that wasn't a good thing. Sure, a quiet family moment is nice, but it was too quiet. He glanced at the door and found that Nikolai had abandoned his post. Rage filled him and he wanted to retrieve him and investigate, but he didn't want to leave Clara and Keara.

He glanced down at the both of them and then at the window. Things seemed calm out there, but he knew it was anything but calm. The demons in the room were gone, probably gone to see what was all the fuss. He hadn't even notice them leave.

A few seconds later Nikolai walked in and although Crowley wanted to chew him out, he could see he had important information to tell them.

"You are not going to believe this." He said. "Just as the angels came to strike an attack, the second wave was killed. Not just pulled down, fallen or losing their grace." Nikolai said and approached. "They were decimated." He added.

Crowley and Clara exchanged glances and then looked down at Keara. She knew her daughter and her combined had done that. But did Crowley? Obviously, the demons didn't know, but did the angels?

"The first wave returned to Heaven with injuried, scared out of their wits having watched the second wave burn." Nikolai said and glanced down at Keara. "No competition there. There's no fight between Heaven and Hell today, maybe not ever." He added and smiled at the baby, as if he wanted to change the subject. "She's a cutie." He said and approached. He glanced at Crowley, as if asking to come closer and when his King said nothing, did nothing, he took that as an approval.

He bent over and placed a finger under Keara's left hand. At first, she didn't respond, but then she squeezed his finger, making him let out a little laugh. She stirred and then settled. He smiled and when he looked up at Clara, she watched him, glowing with pride.

"Mind if I take a picture, for Nerilla?" he asked and Clara smiled, nodding.

"Seriously?" Crowley asked and Nikolai glanced at him with a grin, taking out a cell phone.

"If she finds out that she saw the baby after lower class demons, none of us will hear the end of it." Nikolai said and Clara let out a little laugh. She appreciated that Nikolai had changed the subject, trying to keep this moment from turning dark. She didn't want to think about the war that could have occurred between Heaven and Hell, not yet anyway.

"Lower class demons saw her even before you." Clara said to him with a dark grin.

"I'll disregard that." Nikolai said and took the picture, sending it to Nerilla. He stepped back and lifted up the phone. "How about the lovely little family?" he asked and Crowley grunted.

"No." he said, but Clara let out another laugh.

"Oh, wonderful idea." She said, too excitedly, and growled at Crowley to get him to look happier for the photo. After a few seconds, Nikolai took the picture and showed them. "Aw, this is beautiful. I want that framed." She said and Nikolai grinned. "Nice large portrait for the apartment." she added.

"Small ones for our desks at the office." Crowley corrected and Nikolai smirked as Clara glared at her lover. "Why don't we go back home, now." He said, changing subjects. "It'll be much safer." He insisted and she rolled her eyes, sighing. Just like Crowley to keep to business. He didn't want to ignore the war that could have happened if it hadn't been for his Queen and daughter.

"Ready for the grand exit?" Nikolai asked as Crowley and him helped Clara off the bed.

"What?" she asked him.

"Escorted by nearly all the demons? And then think of the grand entrance." He said. "All of Hell will rejoice. It'll be a celebration for sure and they'll be dying to see the little Hell Cookie." He added and both King and Queen frowned at him as he grinned. They didn't care for the nickname, but he wasn't changing it.

"All in due time." Crowley said and Nikolai maintained his grin as he opened the door and ordered the demons to fall back and go into formation as the Queen and the Princess were ready to go back Home.

Clara stood in place, holding Keara tightly, and slowly walked without help. She wasn't sure she could, but she was doing well. Her stomach even seemed to have gone down. Does part of being a Cambion mean quicker healing? She never really noticed it before, not that she ever injured herself often. It was usually her inflicting the injuries.

She looked up at Crowley and he grinned at her encouragingly. He wrapped an arm around her waist as Nikolai held the door open for them.
