DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN THE TWILIGHT SAGA!

"It's her my brothers. I've found her." The youngest, and the cruelest of the men said.

I hovered unnoticeable over the room, where the elders had gathered. They've all come together for the news. The news of their savior. The one who would bring their curse to a ruin. Kimberly. Sweet and beautiful Kimberly.

Anger seized my now lifeless and cold flesh. Though I may technically be dead, my being lived on, in the form of a demon. Never in my entire inconsequential life have I ever felt this strongly. I have felt anger before, many times but never to this extent. What was it about this girl that set fire to my withered bones, and to my heart. It did not beat, and yet I find it pounding when ever she is near. I should let them take her. She is non of my concern, she means nothing to me and she never will.

"Are you sure my brother?" The eldest rasped out through a sickened cough.

I watched over the men and saw their eyes light up with a burning fire, emitted deep from their cold hearts. I cocked a brow and realized that they needed her. They needed her to bring back hope into their hearts again. Why did my rage burn greater at that thought. For you know that she'll be harmed in the process, whispered a little voice in my head. Silence! This is not a time for you to grow weak Amoz, you struck a pact and you are honor bound to uphold it. Forget honor! Think of the defenseless and innocent girl, she has never harmed anyone in her entire existence. She does not deserve this and you know it. I struck my self on the head reapidiatly with a closed fist, in an attempt to silence the conciseness that seemed to have awaken by her mere presence.

"I am sure Garath. It was her, I just know it. And she is powerful my brothers, really powerful." The man grinned excitedly, as if he was honored by the mere thought of confirming the news of a slaughter that would take place.

"Good, you did well Bailel." Garath, the leader nodded weakly. His life was dwindling by the second and he knew it. You could sense it by the way sorrow and fear clung to the air around him. "Everything is going as planned. Brothers the stars are alining and we need to move quickly or we will be forced to wait another hundred and sixty-four years. She needs to be ready and prepared for what will come." He eyes them all with a frightening glower, that promised if they were to fail, they would not live long enough to hold regret.

"We won't fail, I promise you. We know where she lives, it's just the matter of taking action now. We will go get her tonight and bring her to you. But we still need the the other three aspects of the curse Garath." Bailel intervened.

"She is the most crucial and the most difficult part of the curse. We have plenty of wolves to chose among to sacrifice along side her, and Kimberly is still pure so we have no need to go searching for a virgin." Garath pointed out.

"But what about love?" Bailel asked, "The witch said that the curse was born out of the love he held for his sister, and so it must end with it."

The old bearded man laughed delighted, "Brilliant, just brilliant."

"What is it?" He asked confused, obviously not seeing the logic that the older man was.

I rolled my eyes. Even, I knew what the older man had meant. I enjoyed that part of the sacrifice, not the other.

"Jared" Garath exclaimed excited, waiting patiently for the other men to gather his reason. He sighed when he was met by befuddled stares, "They are in love. Well Jared has imprinted on Kimberly, and Kimberly she has grown to care for him deeply. They are the only things we need to succeed." The eldest, Garath twiddled his fingers together, determination furrowing his brows.

No, I screamed silently. This could not come to pass. I would see it so, this girl had caused no harm to deserve this. She had merely been born, it was not her fault for being conceived let alone that she held Adarian's blood in her veins.

One of the men rose up in questioning anger, "What if we fail? What will we do then? Continue to let our sons, our daughters to suffer under the curse for something our ancestors did?" He growled, "Hugh!" he pointed to the frail man besides him, "Your daughter is sick right?" The man nodded slightly, anger and sadness swirling in the depth of his eyes. "She will die if we don't succeed, we need reassurance. More than we already have. "

"Calm yourself Kenneth" Garath silenced the men in the room, who were screaming out their insecurities with help of profanities. "Have no fear men, If something does happen to go wrong, I have another plan." The old man grinned, but the grin was not an expression of happiness, rather an evil smugness.

And at this very moment, I had the childish urge to slap it off his self-satisfied face.

"What is it wise one?" Kenneth asked intrigued, his fellow protesters settling down into quiet whispers of doubt.

" Her mother, Ella." He stared thoughtful at the men before him before continuing "She has been a problem of ours for a long time now, she knows to much. And the only reason we haven't acted sooner was because we depended on her fear silencing her. But we have no reassurance that she will remain so." The man lifted himself of the chair with the help of a younger man. "So I say we kill two birds with one stone. Capture Ella, and lure Kimberly in, if you happen to fail this simple task."

The men snickered, and agreed with small murmurs that carried excitement and joy.

"It's settled then?" Garath voice carried a strong sense of authority.

Bailel, and the men nodded, "Yes, we will go get her after she's fallen asleep and bring her back here."

"Good" he nodded weakly, " Meeting adjourned, I will retire for the night, and by morning I will expect to see the results."

Alarmed, I teleported myself out of the room and into my chambers. What was I supposed to do? I cannot nor will I stand by and see this unravel itself. You must. But what of the girl?, my weaker side contradicted. Find something, try , do anything or you shall regret it for the rest of eternity.

I slammed my fist into the dresser, frustration seeping out of every pore. You've always prided yourself on being brighter and more level headed than others, prove it. Find a loop hole. A way out of the bind being held by your honor. Know your other options, study them and you will have your solution.

I snapped back up from my hunched stature, a new light, a new realization dawned me. The only demanded that I find her, they never spoke of what I could do after that. The never uttered the words, you shall not intervene. There is still hope for her. If she were to fight back, it wouldn't necessarily be my fault. I could warn her, I thought. Warn her before it is to late, and give her a chance to run.

Determend, and to my horrification, glad. I traveled into the dream realm. The senses came rushing in like waves of the tide, I reveled in them. They were my only sources of true emotions, and it had been to long. To long of not feeling, of being empty. I snapped out of the thrill, the haze that were enamoring me and deflecting my reason for being here.

Kimberly. The thought held me grounded, instead of being embroiled by the thousand emotions crushing down onto me.

I shut my eyes, and focused on the particularly persons subconscious, Kim. I felt the familiar tingle and tightening of my skin, she was nearby. I let the familiar stream of the powers surging within carry me towards her.

Swooping soundlessly down, I let the harsh rocks of the mountain greet my ghostly pale feet. I let my sharp eyes take in every movement, every sound and smell of the erie place. The beautiful flowing motion of a dress caught my attention.

Kimberly was standing at the hill, looking hauntingly beautiful. Her wild flat hair, was swept away in the wind. Her white gown, fitted her body as if it was a second skin. Her brown eyes were narrowed and alert. And her perfectly shaped lips were attacked by her teeth.

"Amoz?" She treaded carefully, she was suspicious. Only a fool would miss the tangible scent of fear lingering in the air around her, and she had every right to be frightened.

I took a few hasty steps forward, until I was standing only an inch away from her face. "We do not have much time, they are coming for you. Tonight. You have to run, run far away from here. They cannot find you, do you understand?"

"What? slow down." She shrieked, "What's happening!?" She grabbed my arm. The motion made my entire being freeze, before I snatched my arm out of her grasp.

"We do not have time to spare my dear." I stared at the beautiful creature before me, either shaking by the cold or horror."You must wake up, I shall help you. I will explain everything once you are safe. I give you my word."

"What do I do?" She straightened her posture. My brave little fighter.

"Once you wake up from this, you will have to run. Find somewhere safe to hide."

"Okay, I'm ready." She nodded, " Do it. "

I gathered her up in my arms, and secretively reveled at the softness of her curves, the gentle smell of her skin. Before tilting her head up and placed a lingering kiss on her forehead. And whispered "Awon ala ni o wa illusions"

"Sök din inre styrka min lilla duva " I prayed softly, watching her form disappear.

Startled, I rushed out of bed. My heart was pounding so loud and hard, I almost missed the quiet ruffling sound downstairs.

With eyes wide open, I realized that it was multipal footsteps I was hearing, and hushed words. They were here, what do I do? I can't go through the front door exactly.

"The window" I heard Amoz faded voice say.

"Are you crazy?" I shrieked muffled, "It's a four foot drop, I'll break my legs."

"It is your choice. Risk breaking your legs or become taken and killed. You have to decide quickly, they are coming." the shuffling of rushing footstep coming this way, proved that it wasn't a lie.

Gathering my courage, I walked over to the window, and opened it. Every second you spend convincing yourself, is one less you have to get away. You have to do this. Jump!

I climbed onto the railing, shaking with each movement. I picked my brain for different tips on landing as softly as I possibly could. I couldn't jump straight down, I'd break my legs. I can't jump face down either. Maybe landing on my side would dampened the fall a little. You can survive from a broken rib and maybe even run.

With my heart pounding fiercely in my ears, my hands clammy and my breath quickened, I leapt out of the window. The wind was howling in my ears, terrified of the waited landing, I twisted my body so that my side was faced down to the ground.

The impact of my body slamming into the ground, made me want to release an ear deafening scream. Terrified of being caught or heard, I bit down on my tongue so fiercely, the taste of blood exploded in my mouth. I placed my arms onto the ground, trying to rise from it. But a white hot searing pain stopped me. When I tried to move my left arm, a pain so slicing and sickening spread like wild fire. I screamed into my other arm, before slamming my teeth down. Dizzy and nauseous, I inspected it. The arm was twisted in such horribly scary way, I had to push down both vile and another scream.

"You have to move!" I heard Amoz faint screaming in my head, "They have spotted you!"

"I- I c- can't, " I mumbled weakly with silent tears streaming down my face, " I'm going to pass out"

"You cannot give up now! Not after how far you have come. There is still time for you, but you have to move now!"

A bone shrilling scream, snapped me out of the pain daze, "KIM! RUN KIM"

"MOM!" I screamed back terrified.

"She's here! Help me get her!" A man shouted to another.

"RUN KIMBERLY! THEY ARE COMING!" Amoz screeched frustrated in my head.

"I can't just leave her! They'll kill her!" I rose up, the adrenalin was the only thing keeping me standing and from passing out.

"No they will not, I promise you! You are no good to her dead or captured."

I halted, "I'm so sorry mom, I'll come back for you. I promise" I whispered into the night, before turning around and leaping into the dark forest.

I ran as fast as my legs could carry me. The ground scraped my feet, leaving them bruised, cold and bleeding with every step. My lungs were screaming from the lack of oxygen, and with every breath I took, my lungs wheezed and burned. The only sound I could hear was the erratic thumping of my heart leaping out of my chest.

"She's getting away!" I heard a man screaming to another behind me. They were getting closer, I had to run faster!

I willed my legs to quicken their pace, the severity of the nausea left me on the brink of fainting. The forrest didn't seem as beautiful as it once had, now it was dark and filled with creatures clawing at my arms. With wind biting into my bare skin.

"Stop! we mean you no harm!" The man tried pathetically.

Ignoring him, and willing him to trip and crack open his skull, I ran faster without looking back. I let out a strangled sigh of relief when I saw a small clearing in front of me. Darting towards it, I found myself in a field full of withered flowers.

I couldn't run anymore, I needed to hide. My arm hurt so badly, my head was weak, my vision dulled and my whole body ached. I crouched down and hid behind a bush and watched the man enter the field. He's breathing was labored and his forehead was covered in sweat.

"Kimberly, I know you're here." The man snickered weakly, "There's nowhere you can hide or run, where we can't find you."

I held my breath, the wind seizing my body. Raw fear coursed through my body, chilling me to my very core. He was going to find me.

"Give up little girl. You've had your time and we want ours."

His sharp gaze reminded me of an hawk I saw once. The hawk had the exact same look he had, before it swooped down from the sky and captured a tiny dove with its sharp claws.

Well if he thinks I'm going to be as easy to catch as a dove, he's sadly mistaken. Crawling as softly and quietly as I could, I started into the woods again. But before I could, a rough hand snatched my hair and forced me out of my hiding place.

"LET ME GO!" I screamed and twisted in his grip. My screams became forced down by his hand. Furious, I kicked his shin with my heal, succeeding into him loosening his hold of my hair.

I tried to get away once more, screaming for somebody to help me, 'till my throat was raw. My screams bounced of the trees surrounding us, unheard and unnoticed. I fought him again when he reached for me, but sudden blinding pain caused me to double over. He had pulled my damaged hand roughly, keeping me from getting away.

"P-please let me go- " I cried, before falling down.

The last thing I saw before completely loosing conciseness, was the man staring horrified into the eyes of a dark brown beast.

I drifted in and out of conciseness, only hearing a few low mumbled words around me.

"Kim, stay with me. Don't fall asleep" A voice urged me up to the surface.

But it's so hard, I whined. Gravity's pulling me down, please help me. After a few minutes of darkness, I was able to get a few seconds of clarity. I could finally feel the strong arms around me, carrying me to safety as they once had before. My nostrils were flooded by the smell of grass and warmth, and my ears could hear the erratic thumping of a familiar heart.

"Jared" I mumbled weakly, "I'm so tired."

"I know baby, I know. We're almost there, just stay awake a little longer."

I nodded carefully, scared I would puke if I forced myself to do more. He shifted me carefully in his arms, but stopped when I screamed in response.

We entered a house. I was to weak to speak to him, or calm him down. All I could muster was to raise my hand and place it above his heart.

"Kim, your shoulder is dislocated." Jared's voice sounded so pained and tired, I felt my heart clench in sadness for him.

I whined in protest when Jared carefully guided me out of his arms, and upon the cold table. "Kimberly, I need you to listen to me! You have to open your eyes."

I blinked my eyes open slowly and saw a blurry Jared in front of me. Focusing even harder, I managed to get a clearer view.

"Jared" I let out a sigh of relief, following with a stream of tears.

"Shh, it's okay you're safe." He stroked my hair before kissing the tears away from my cheeks. "I'm so glad you're okay" He whispered into my hair. We clung to each other, confirming that everything was okay, or at least that it will be.

"I seriously think that I'm in the need of a body guard" my laugh choked on my teary voice.

"I'll be whatever you need" He whispered softly. I smiled up at him and stroked his cheek with the back of my right hand. " I have to pop your shoulder back." He looked at me apologetically.

"I'm sorry Kim, this is going to hurt, a lot. "

I took a shaky breath before nodding, "It's fine, it needs to be done"

Jared placed his right palm on the back of my shoulder and the other right beside my collar bone.

"I'm going to count to three, okay?" I nodded in response and held my breath, dreading the upcoming pain, "One- " He snapped the shoulder into place. And I let out a ear pricing scream.

"You said three, you asshole, three!" I glared at him.

"Kim, you have to rest. I'll help you get upstairs"

"NO!" I shouted suddenly, "We have to get my mother back!"

"What? Your mother?" Jared looked at me confused.

"Those men-, they took her. They tried to take me but I jumped and I ran. I ran from her, I left her there." I said hysterically, "How could I do that? How could I- ? I have to leave! or they'll find me, find you"

"Whoa Kim, slow down" Jared waved his hands, and pushed me back onto the table and held me there, " What's happening exactly?"

"They're the elders, or their minions, I don't know. " I shook my head, "The man whom you saved me from, he belongs to a group of people who believes in a curse, a curse involving me. If I stay here they're going to kill me and my mother."

"Why?" Jared insisted

"We don't have time for this Jared! I have to leave!" I stressed

"Kim, you're not going anywhere. At least not alone. I'm coming with you"

"Jared, no!"

"You can't go alone, you won't survive. I don't know what's going on but I am not leaving you and that's final" He growled, narrowing his eyes at all of us.

"You can't!" I shrieked, "You'll die!"

"And If I don't go, you'll die" He retorted angry. "This is not negotiable"

"You're the most stubborn-, idiotic-, suicidal-, infuriating person I've ever met!" I shouted at him.

"Well, right back at 'cha!"

"Urgh!" I sighed defeated, but thoroughly pissed off, "We're just wasting time arguing, my mom could be hurt or worse dying."

"Fine, We'll leave in the morning"

"No, I'm leaving right now." I snapped, determined.

"Fine but take a shower and switch clothes while I get a car."

I looked around the little cabin we were in, "Where are we by the way?"

"Don't know. Found it a while ago when I was walking in the woods, it's been abandoned for years." He shrugged. "They're still some clothes in the closet though and shoes"

"Yeeah, about that" I dragged out the words, embarrassed beyond belief," I can't really- , I mean I can't move my arm, so well- I don't know how to-"

Realization dawned him, and his mouth formed a "0", " I can help you into the shower if you want." He scratched the back of his neck.

I nodded before slowly sliding off the table, but as I set my feet on the ground I involuntarily yelped at the sudden sting. He rolled his eyes and stuck out his arms as an invitation. I sighed, really fucking sick of being hurt and stepped into them. He carried me to the bathroom, turned on the shower and waited for me to say something.

"Help me get out of my clothes?" I mumbled carefully

"Only cause you asked so nicely" He teased, before turning towards me. As gently as he could, he lifted my tank top of my body before flinging it to the floor.

"Do you think we're safe here for the time being?"

"Yeah, nobody knows of this place anyway." He held his eyes on mine, never once looking down, "We'll get her back, I promise Kim"

A few silent tears ran down my cheeks, "I'm just so scared Jared, I don't know what's happening and I don't know what to do."

"We'll figure it out, I promise." He tilted my chin upwards, "Nothing will happen to you or your mom."

"Thank you"

"For what?" he asked confused, before lifting me up again so that he could remove my pyjama bottoms.

"For saving me, for helping me, for always being there when I need you"

"It's nothing to thank me for, It's a given" He smiled that heart aching smile of his.

When the panties were next to come off, things got awkward. In an attempt to slide them off my legs without saying hello to my little friend, he leaned his face into my neck. With only one of his hands, he hooked the panties and slid them of my thighs. His other hand was to busy holding my, now naked body up.

He lifted me up towards the shower, and set me down into the tub.

"I'll be back in like 20 minutes, Do not open the door for anyone other than me okay?" He glanced down at me as quickly as he looked away.

"How will I know that it's you?" I smiled, so cute when he's flustered.

"I'll be the only one with the key." He answered dryly.

"Yeah that makes sense. " I mumbled embarrassed.

"Be safe" He halted at the door, before turning around quickly and placing a kiss on my forehead.

I shoved him off playfully with my one hand, "Get out you pervert."

After he left, the horror of my situation took over. Even with the steaming water pouring down on me, I still felt frozen. I forced myself to wash and scrub away all the filth and blood of my body. I looked down at my body, inspecting the damage. I inhaled sharply at the sight. I looked fucking awful, with a big capital f. I was bruised on my left side from all the way down to my knee, my stomach and my shoulder. Disgusted, I looked away and instead distracted myself with washing my hair clean from dirt and branches. Feeling utterly weak and defeated, I climbed out of the tub. Walking on my toes, I quickly searched for a towel and found one by the sink.

I wrapped it around my aching body and went in search for a room with a closet in it. There were three doors on my right and one on the left, being an optimist as I was, I choose the left one. It was a small bedroom, that only contained a kingside bed and a dresser. Oh score. Opening the drawer, I found two pair of black jeans and in the other one I found a pair of socks, and no underwear. Great. Shirt, I rummaged through the last one and found a baggy sweatshirt. Well this will have to do, I guess.

I've highly underestimated the use of two arms. Clutching my left arm to my side, I bent over and started on the easiest task, the socks. It hurt like hell, but they were warm so. The pants were the hardest, I wasn't able to button them but Jared could help me later. I pulled the sweater over my head and ruffled my hair a little. I found a pair of sneakers a couple of sizes to big, but doable.

"Kim we gotta go, they're on to us" Jared called from the door.

"What? Are they close?" I shrieked from upstairs, "And can I just have moment to say, I told you so!" I rushed downstairs in panic.

"Not the right time for that" He said back annoyed, "No, not that close, but close enough to make me want to get the hell out of here. They were a couple of miles back, they're looking for you"

"No shit sherlock, what gave it away?" I said dryly while giving him my best bored look.

He returned my stare with one of his own before saying, " Sarcasm? How fitting right now."

"Sarcasm is always called for in every situation"

He scoffed before turning towards me, "You look awful"

I shot him an angry glare before retorting that wonderful compliment, " Yeah I'd like to see how you look after a four feet drop, asshole"

"I'd look bitchin' as hell" He grinned smugly.

I snorted at that, before following him out to the car. It was a ugly looking thing, with dents in it and rust all around it's rims, "Did you steal this from Need For Speed or something?" I asked unimpressed.

"No I just borrowed it, the pimps who lent it to me were very friendly actually."

"They must have been, to let you borrow this .. beauty" I frowned at the car, missing my comet every step of the way towards it.

He laughed at my horrified face, "Get in"

We drove for hours, watching the sunrise come and leave the darkness behind it. Neither saying a word or even looking at each other. I think he knew I needed time to gather my thoughts and figure everything out. Like where we could go, where they wouldn't possibly find us? And what would happen if they did find me? Would they hurt Jared? And what about mom? How could I possibly save her, when I can't even save myself.

I needed back-up, or at least someone powerful on my side. But I did, didn't I? Amoz, he would help me, I'm sure of it. And if he wouldn't physically help, he could still answer my last remaining questions. Maybe I'll be able to find someway out of this, without killing anyone.

The sign, "Welcome to Oregon" caught my attention. I turned my gaze to Jared and saw how tired he truly looked. His eyes kept dropping and his grip on the wheel was loose and unfocused.

"let's grab a hotel somewhere here, we've been driving for six hours. We need to rest and gather supplies." I broke the silence, and obviously startled him awake.

"Sure thing" He agreed, "Have you figured out where we're going?"

I nodded, "I think I know someone who's willing to help us"

"Who?" He asked, while making a turn into a rundown motel.

Debating my answer, I hesitated before speaking again, "There's something I have to tell you, I'll tell you once were inside."

He regarded me before his face turned stoic, and nodded as if he understood. Once we entered the one leveled motel and stood in front of a sweaty old guy, I remembered that I didn't have my credit card or any cash on me. I turned to Jared and whispered, "I don't have any money, I didn't really think about that before jumping out of the window. Hell, I didn't even have shoes."

"It's fine, we'll figure something out." He backed away from the desk and grabbed my arm.

"I think I have an idea. You're probably not going to like it but.." He started slowly. I waited patiently for him to continue, right now I would probably sell everything I had on for a nights rest.

"Go wait in the car while I deal with it" He shoved me towards the door, I glanced up at him dumbfounded.

"What?" I whispered, "What are you going to do?"

"Just wait in the car!" He snarled annoyed, "Please" He added after seeing my heated glare.

"Fine!" I growled back,

"Stupid macho buff guy, trying to save the damsel in distress with his shitty fucking horse" I mumbled under my breath, while slamming the car door.

The entire time wasted on waiting for him return, was spent with me uttering every nasty word I could possibly come up with under my breath. When he finally did return, he walked with such magnetic power, I couldn't help but stare and well admire his physic.

"I got the room" He smiled, but it fell once he saw my stare and became replaced by furrowed brows," What? Is everything okay?"

I blinked a couple of times, before clearing my suddenly dry throat, "Yeah, yeah fine. Just tired."

I looked down at the broken lock on the door, then at him with one eyebrow raised, "You were right, I don't like this idea"

I shook my head before pushing the door open to a small room with a kingsized bed smacked in the middle of it. There was a phone next to the bed and a dresser with an old Tv on top of it next to the tiny bathroom.

"How long are we staying here?" He asked, while grabbing a drink from the mini fridge.

"Just for a couple of hours or so" I fidgeted with my fingers, worry etched across my face," It's not safe to stay here for long, they'll find me"

He nodded, "So what's the plan?"

I paused, what was the plan? "Honestly? I have no idea. I don't know what their next step is and before I know that, I'm practically clueless"

"You're taking this surprisingly well" I said out of the blue.

"What do you mean?" He frowned.

"I mean some crazy girl came at you screaming about sacrifices and elders and you just took it like I was telling you the sky was blue, or something"

He shrugged and took a swing of the drink, "Dunno, I guess in my world, you telling me that you're part of a ritual, is like you telling me the sky is blue." He paused before continuing, "But you need to explain everything, cause I have no idea what the hell is going on."

So I did, I told him about my requiring dreams of the Dream- Walker, Amoz. Who I at first only thought was a figment of my imagination, but later after discovering the cuts on my hand were I fell in the dream, were still there the morning after, I realized that it wasn't imaginary at all. I told him about The Elders, who seemed to believe that I was their salvation. I even told him about my three brothers. He listened very intently through it all, nodding from time to time as if to tell me to carry on.

I inhaled greedily after I was done, and waited for him nervously to say something.

"So this Amoz guy, he warned you that they were coming?" He asked and rubbed his chin intrigued.

I nodded "Yeah, without his help they would have probably captured me."

"But he's the one who turned you over to them?" He continued with a frown.

"Well, yeah. But he had his reasons" I defended him.

"And what were those?"

I started to respond, but was left with just an open mouth and an empty mind. "I honestly don't know." I frowned, "But he did say something about them buying his favor. Like a trade of some sort."

"So he's the one who's going to help us?" He asked, after handing me a bottle of water.

"Yeah he's our best shot" I shrugged and took a sip of the water.

"How do you know we can trust him?"

"I just do, it's worth a shot." I sighed, "Otherwise, we'll find some other way of getting my mom back."

"Okay" He nodded, " But what I don't get is why are The Elders so bent on having you? I mean if all they required was a sacrifice, why not just pick anyone?"

"Well that's the thing, I'm not really, exactly.. Human" I spit out, " I don't really know what I am, but Amoz said something about my dad. That he was special, something else." I cringed, "Please don't freak out"

"I don't think it's me who's freaked out about this" He answered unaffected.

I stared at him dumbfounded, and a little shocked. Okay a lot, "Why are you not running towards the door screaming sorcery or something?"

"Because I've learnt that things aren't always as they seem, but that doesn't necessarily make them different or dangerous."

"You really are suicidal, or at least, crazier than me" I replied

"Whatever you say" He shrugged before flashing me a soothing smile, "How's your arm?"

I stared up at him, my mind trying to wrap itself around his quick acceptance. How was he able to do that? Switch subjects so quickly and just move on to other topics, when what I just told him was down right craziness. A normal person would have laughed in my face, or backed away slowly. But no not him, he just stood there with a worried expression on his face.

"A little stiff and it aches, but other than that I'm fine." I answered slowly

He stared at me doubtful before sighing, "Why don't you get some rest?"

"What about you?" I intervened

"I'll be fine" He smiled, "Someone has to keep watch"

I leaned down on the bed and slid under the covers, "Will you at least sit with me?"

He paused, as if he debated against it. Before finally giving in and came around the other side of the bed and sat down. He leaned against the headboard and shrugged of his shoes. I sighed in content, reveling in the warmth of his body next to mine. I scooted closer to him, waiting for him to invite me closer. He smiled and wrapped his arms around me, and guided me towards his chest. I buried my nose in his shirt, almost painfully so. But I didn't give a shit about the pain. I needed to be close to someone, otherwise I would break and start crying again. And I'm so tired of crying, of feeling weak. And if I was to be left alone again, everything would come crashing in and right now that wasn't a possible option. I needed to be strong, for myself, for Jared and for my mom.

Oh god what have I done? I've smacked Jared right in the middle of it, he's a target now because of me. He could die, as in gone.

"Whatever you're thinking about, just stop"

"You can die, you know that? because of me" My voice cracked.

"I won't " He whispered, while stroking my hair.

A tear slipped out, "You don't know that."I contradicted, "I wouldn't be able to live with myself if something happened to you because of me"

I felt his hand travel upwards to my chin, before he tilted it upwards and looked me deep in the eyes, "Some people are worth dying for"

He said it with such conviction, it made me cry. I didn't know if I cried out of happiness or fear. Both I guess. Before I could stop myself, I captured his lips and even though my nose was running and everything hurt. It was still the best kiss I'd ever experienced.

He grabbed the back of my head roughly and pressed his face painfully close to me. I welcomed the pain, this pain was a good kind. I clung to him desperately, trying to force the gnawing anguish in my stomach away. I think he needed this just as much as I did, because his passion was undeniable and unrelenting.

His hold on me loosened a little, and I assumed that it meant the end of that kiss. And I was just about to apologize when he started nibbling on my earlobe. A soft moan escaped my mouth, and before I had the time to be embarrassed over my slip, he assured me that he enjoyed it. His kissing and his nibbling intensified and became even more heated and passionate. He rolled us over, he was now on top and even more in charge. He grabbed my leg and, I automatically wrapped it around his waist, succeeding into bringing us even closer. He hitched his hand upwards, rubbing circles across my thigh each step of the way. My whole body melted into him, when he moved, I moved. As if we were in a perfectly synchronized dance. I moved away from his lips, to capture my breath. But I didn't end it there. Instead I started planting kisses everywhere. On his earlobe, his jawline and his neck. His stubble scrapped my neck in such a delicious way, I couldn't help but moan again.

He growled when I hit a certain spot on his neck, and using it as a guideline, I started to suck and lick on that particularly spot.

"We have to stop" He said through ragged breathing.

"Why?" I whined, starting to move towards him again. I managed to get one kiss in before he gently pulled me off.

Interpreting it as rejection, I cringed away, "I'm sorry" I mumbled embarrassed, before scooting further away from him. I turned my back to him and quietly scolded myself for being so stupid.

"Hey no, stop that" He pleaded, before forcing me to turn around and look at him. "I'm not pushing you away because I want to, but because I have to"

"Sure you're not" I answered doubtfully, "It's fine, I get it."

He sighed frustrated, "Why do you act this way?"

"Act what way?" I snapped back.

"Like no one could ever want you"

I didn't dare to look him in the eyes when I whispered, "Cause no one ever has. I don't even think my mom really wanted me. And it looks like she had the right idea. If I'd never been born, she would still be here, happy and safe."

"Kim, this is not your fault!" He exclaimed, "You have to stop blaming yourself for what others do. It's not your fault for being born" His eyes were alert and held a fire in them. "I know what your going through, I really do. Believe me."

I looked away, unwilling to meet his gaze, "How could you possibly know?"

"I lost my dad and for years I blamed myself"

"Why? It wasn't your fault, it was the drunk driver's"

"Yeah, but the reason he was there at that time, was because of me. I got into a fight at school and got sent to the principals office, and he had to pick me up afterwards and skip work for a couple of hours. That's why he worked late and was stressed about getting home." He growled. "And that's why he walked down that street, at that time."

"I'm so sorry." was the only thing I could say, but still it didn't feel enough.

"So you see, I know what you're going through, better than anyone. That pain, that guilt. It eats away at you 'till you're too numb to feel anything. And I never want to see that happen to you. Do you understand?"

I mustered up a nod, before letting him embrace me again. Using his chest as a pillow, I let his breathing become my personal lullaby.

"Why are you always so warm?" I whispered, while dragging my finger along his chest.

"Is it bothering you?" He asked.

"No" I sighed contently, before softly closing my eyes, "It's like feeling the sun on my skin." I yawned.

"Go to sleep" He kissed my forehead, and dragged his fingers through my hair.

"Goodnight" I corrected myself after, "I mean good morning"

"Sweet dreams Kim" he whispered, before adding, "Don't worry, we'll fix everything once you wake up"

Content for a few seconds, I feel into a colorless dream.

"I am so fucking sick of this goddamn place" I growled; Looking around the familiar cliff.

"It is not my idea of a pleasant scenery either. Oh who am I trying to delude, of course it is" Amoz voice held a spark of teasing, which was unusual for him. Because he's, well him.

"Finally starting to develop humor are we?" I giggled; turning around to face him. I cringed backwards once my eyes landed on him. He looked awful. His face was covered in bruises and cuts. His fingers were twisted in a gruesome angle, and every single one of them were purple. My heart clenched at the sight.

I rushed towards him, worry seeping out of every pore, "Oh my god, what happened to you?" I gasped.

"Oh this?" He pointed with one of his crocked fingers towards his face," This is simply a friendly reminder off whom I serve."

"I am so sorry, are you in a lot of pain?" I asked him gently.

He looked at me as if he were shocked by my concern, "I would do well to inquire you the same"

"Oh me? I'm fine, really. Just one tiny scratch really" I shrugged.

"It seems that my services are well needed here. I have the power to heal you, if that is to your liking" He stretched out one of his arms for me, offering it to me.

He was just about to cut one of his healed scars open, when I stopped him.

"No, stop. You're already weak enough as it is. " I exclaimed disgusted; Grabbing his wrist. "It will heal on it's own."

He nodded uncomfortably, before snatching his wrist out of my grasp, "If it is not to heal you that I have been called for, then what is it?"

I looked around the darken forest, before directing my attention to him, "Do you think you can change this scenery?"

He stared down at me, disbelief written across his face, "That is why you summoned me here? To alter your dream state?"

I laughed, "Well no, but it would be deeply appreciated"

He shook his head, and cringed if he regretted the action, "I can, but it requires full access to your dream state."

"So?" I dragged out the word, not fully understanding his logic.

He rolled his eyes, "I need to be granted access into your mind"

My mouth formed a small "o", "Well, I don't like this place, please change it." I pleaded to him, before continuing, "Why is it that we always end up here?"

He smiled as if he were tasting something sweet, "This is the place, where your emotions were their strongest" He responded,

"My emotions are always strong" I muttered annoyed, "And why does that matter anyways?"

"It holds great meaning to me. Your emotions are another power source of mine, one of the few I quite enjoy." He smiled.

"You're literally sucking up my emotions?" I gasped, "Well that's attractive. You should put that on your dating profile"

"You are speaking in riddles little dove" He uttered annoyed, but weirdly entertained also, "This place holds great importance for your source of emotion, this is where your current emotions originates from. Are you certain that you wish to change it?"

"Well not anymore" I said doubtful, " So yeah, let's not"

"As you wish" He sighed

"Okay, back to the point. I'm basically screwed. They have my mom" I clenched my fist at the thoughts that wouldn't stop pestering me.

He nodded with understanding, "I already had knowledge of that. They intended on exploit her as bait, as an alternative to lead you out of hiding if you managed to escape their watchful eyes"

I glared at him, "You knew they were gonna take her!" I screamed.

"I did" He confirmed, without a shred of regret or remorse.

"Why didn't you warn me!?" I snapped, " I could've helped her, or at least warned her."

"I had no intentions of saving her." He answered dryly, "My only intent was confirming your survival"

"Why?" I asked him bluntly

"Pardon?" He frowned

"Why did you warn me?" I challenged him and took another step towards him, "You were the one who brought me to them on a silver plater, why do you care?" I backed away, shocked by my discovery "You care! That's it isn't it?"

His smile fell, and became a twisted expression. As if he was disgusted by the mere fact, " Do not ever interpret my actions as caring. You are of use to me" He snarled.

My courage faltered at his glare, "And what use is that?"

"Nourishment" His smile was to dark and lethal to be considered a smile, but that was the way I choose to delude myself.

I sighed; Realizing that it was pointless to argue with him. He did things he deemed was necessary and therefor he couldn't be trusted. "Fine. I have some questions for you."

"Do carry on." He snickered, as if he was proud of what he thought was success into fooling me to believe he was heartless.

"What am I?"

His eyes turned sharp and expressionless before he answered, "You are the sole daughter of Adarian, an underworlder. You my dear, are a forest nymph."

"No fucking way."
