Chapter 2: One Plus One equals Two
Mikan got up from her seat and excused herself from the classroom.
"Mikan-san! Wait up!" a voice yelled from behind Mikan. She turned around, "Hi?"
"Good morning, Mikan-san! My name is Yuu Tobita, I am the class representative." He took a breath, "Since you are new, I will be showing you the way to our principal's office, if that's alright with you."
"Hello, Yuu! That would be great actually," Mikan laughs softly, "I was afraid I'd have to find it myself. By the way, you can just call me Mikan."
Yuu nods then led the way to the High School Principal's office. On the way there, Yuu gave Mikan a mini tour. "That building right there is our Cafeteria. The lunch at Alice Academy is amazing! There's so many choices, you would think the King doesn't have enough compared to what we- oof,"
Yuu looked up at the person he walked into and his face turned blank.
"Watch where you're going."
Breaking his blank face into a scared one, Yuu bowed his head "I'm s-so sorry, Persona-sensei! I-I I was showing around the new student, and-," Persona raised his hand and turned his head. "You are the new student?"
Mikan bowed, "Yes, sir. I am Mikan Sakura."
"Tobita, I will take Sakura to the principal's office. Go back to class."
"Yes, sir!" Yuu bowed his head and said his good-bye to Mikan with a sorry face. Mikan mouthed 'It's okay' to him as he left.
Once Yuu was gone, Persona began to walk towards the Principal's office with Mikan in following behind.
"Excuse us," came Persona's voice as he opened the double doors in front of him. "Ah, Persona. I see you have Miss Sakura with you."
Persona closed the doors, "Enough with that, Uncle Kazu," Persona turned to Mikan, who casually walked to the chair closest to the High School Principal's desk.
"What are you doing here, Mikan? You're suppose to stay home and undetected. This just leaves you out in the open! Why are you here?"
Mikan sat down and let out a loud sigh, "That's the greeting I get from my older brother whom I have not seen for ten years? How disappointing."
"Mikan, don't be rude. Rei is just shocked to see you at Alice Academy. After all, you didn't tell him of the situation, did you?" The High School Principal, or Kazu Yukihira, signalled the girl to go to her older brother.
"I'm sorry. Hello Rei-nii, I've missed you," Mikan hugged her brother tightly. Returning the hug, Persona whispered, "I've missed you too, little one."
Letting go of Persona, Mikan pulled his hand to lead him into the seat next to the one she sat in.
Kazu smiled, "Shall we begin?" Mikan nodded.
"Why are you here, Mikan?"
Mikan took in a deep breath, "It seems like they are on the move. I don't know how, but they found the hideout. We were getting ready to move to the next location when some of their men were spotted nearby. We looked into it some more and found more than a quarter of their men surrounding the location. The mission was terminated then and this was the safest place I could go to." Mikan looked down.
"Wha- that's not the only reason, is it?"
"No, it's not. I'm on another mission and it involves the students in my class. In about a few months a new student will be attending Alice Academy. Unlike the rest for the class, this student has no background and though their Alice is not uncommon, there is something off about them. We're sensing that the two missions are related to each other. We're also not sure what exactly will happen to me, but we know it's not good. My team and I have been planning for the worst. I won't be able to tell you our plan, but after this meeting, my team and I will be putting it into action," taking a moment to breath, Mikan looked at her brother hesitantly, and then with confidence, "Rei-nii, I need to ask for a favor."
"What do you need?" He stared into Mikan's hazel orbs. Mikan read the uneasiness in his eyes behind his mask and felt hesitant again.
"I-I need you to help me erase my existence if I somehow disappear."
Persona stood up quickly causing his chair to fall over. "You want me to what? Erase your existence? Mikan! Why- no, what possessed you to think you have a possibility of disappearing?"
Kazu decided to step in, "Recently Gorou Fujimoto had a vision. He saw one of our trainees taking Mikan's place at the academy." Persona was about to speak when Kazu held up his hand, "Not one of the beginners, Rei. It's her, and you know she never leaves the base. She can't, unless it's an emergency, like Mikan's situation."
"Rei-nii, you're the only one who can do it successfully. Please, this is the only way." Persona looked into Mikan's pleading eyes. He saw the pain and burden she was carrying. Sighing, he pulled Mikan in an embrace once again, "I'll do it, but Mikan, you know I love you, right? I'm doing this for you because I love you. Though we have no blood relations, you will always be my baby sister."
"Jeez, you don't need to get all sappy on me." Mikan paused, "I love you too, Rei-nii." Mikan broke away, noticing that her uncle seems to be focused on something. "Uncle Kazu, what are you looking at?"
Kazu put buried his face in his hands, "I forgot to tell your aunt I'm working overtime today during breakfast." He peeked an eye through his finger, "Would one of you be a dear, and tell her for me?"
"Well! Look at the time, I left my class unattended for longer than necessary. I'll just go now. Bye Uncle. Don't look for me around the academy, Mikan. Just call me the way you always do. Bye." With that, Persona left the room.
"Rei! You coward!" Kazu sighed, "I guess that leaves-"
"No, Uncle. I have homework, and I still need to unpack. Oh! I also don't know my rank or my allowance."
"Right, you have those kinds of needs here. Okay, since you are an heiress for Yukihira's Fashion and Co. you can be a Special Star. However, you are under Sakura, and that would be suspicious if you suddenly transferred and received Special Star with no background. Have you decided on an Alice?"
"Nullification." Kazu opened a folder and started to write, "Alright, Nullification Alice is under Special Abilities. You can be a Three Star, but that underestimates your academic abilities and status."
Mikan thought for a bit, "Actually, being a Three Star is good. I won't stand out as much, and my background will be that I am the granddaughter of Nonno Sakura, who is the owner of Hana no Ojo, the well known cafe all over Japan. I am not to receive any inheritance, that is why no one has heard of me."
"So you're going to adopt Uncle Nonno's name." Kazu let out a laugh, "Here is your room key, when classes are over, ask someone to take you to the room. Have you already gone over this with everyone?"
"Okay, and I did! At least, to everyone outside. I haven't told Rei-nii yet, but I'll let him know later!" Mikan puffed out her cheeks.
Kazu pinched them, "If you don't flatten them, you'll look like a squirrel for the rest of your life." Mikan gasped, which made Kazu laugh, again. "Hey! Not cool, Uncle Kazu! And, what about my allowance? How much and I allowed to spend here?"
Kazu wiped a tear from his eye, "Ah yes, money." He opened a drawer and pulled a card out, "This is an Unlimited Rabbits card, it's also the only one of its' kind. Only use it for emergencies and when you are alone. We don't need word coming out that a Three Star has Unlimited Rabbits now, do we? As for your normal allowance, you will received an envelope every fifth of the month with 500 rabbits. Here is this month's," he handed the white envelope to her.
"Thanks, I will excuse myself now. See you around, Uncle!" Mikan bowed and walked out.
Mikan then went back to room 2B, "Excuse me."
"Ah, Miss Sakura. Welcome back to class, though, you are fifteen minutes late." Mikan bowed down to apologize when the teacher continued, "However, since it is your first day, I shall excuse you. Only once, I do not want to see another absence from you. Am I clear?"
"Yes!" Mikan replied.
"Good, now take a seat."
"Did you see that? Jinno-sensei almost gave the new girl detention!"
"That's so scary, I feel bad for her. She was only in the Principal's office."
"Yeah, he has to know that, rig-"
"Kasami! Answer this question."
"Ah! Um, negative b squared?" Kasami answered. "Wrong! Now, stop chit-chatting in the back and pay attention." Jinno-sensei looked around the classroom, "Miss Sakura, come here and answer the question on the board."
"Yes, sir!" Mikan walked to the board and picked up the chalk. It took her about 2 minutes to finish the problem, she put down the chalk and walked back to her seat. Jinno-sensei glances at the problem and pushes his glasses up, "That is correct."
Mentally sighing Mikan looked to her right and realized her seat partner was missing. She shrugged it off and continued to listened to Jinno-sensei's lesson.
