HOLY! THE LAST TIME I UPLOADED THE STORY WAS AGES AGO! Time do fly fast…. To tell you guys the truth, I was confused, whether or not to continue this story. I have been stressed by exams, university, and you know, personal things. It took me a while to even open the fanfiction webpage. But then looking at the reviews and stuff, it really moved me. I'm gonna finish this story and I would make sure to upload stories more often now, and… longer chapters HAHA. I'm really sorry guys, so this is chapter 5, and please enjoy J

But what came next wasn't an offer for a job and it wasn't an insult either. What came next wasn't what Mai had expected Naru would say, actually she didn't even know Naru could say such thing. Her eyes went wide as he said,

"Will you be my girlfriend?"

Silence filled the room again. A wave of shock hit Mai, hard. Mai had her mouth opened and her eyes open wide. She did NOT expect that, and seriously, who would? Her narcissistic former boss, who'd always insult her, call her an idiot, being a jerk and seem to have difficulty in saying a simple 'thank you', is now confessing to her, and even asking her to be his girlfriend?

'Wait a second...' Mai thought.

'Come to think of it, he's been acting weird! Well since I was happy earlier, I did not realize this but, why is Naru so emotional now!?'

"Mai?" a voice rang through her mind. She snapped out of her thought and shifted her gaze to him.

"Hm?" she said. Because she was too surprised, her voice was faint.

"Why do you seem to be so surprised?" He asked, his voice trailed with amusement.

Silence was once again filling the room, and Mai just stared at him, which made him worried. He was about to ask her what's wrong but then the after a second he thought of that she opened her mouth

"Naru..."

"Yes Mai?"

"Are you... tired?"

'What' he thought. It was funny though and when he was about to mock her on that she continued,

"Or did you hit your head? Did you eat something weird Naru? Or, or is it your allergies? Oh my gosh, are you, are you by any chance possessed?" she blabbered

Naru blinked his eyes several times, and seeing Mai with her eyes filling with pure worries, he thought to himself

'You've got to be kidding me'

Naru sighed and looked Mai straight to her eyes.

"Mai, I did not consume anything weird, I did not hit my head, I have no allergies, nor possessed. I am acting perfectly normal."

Mai tried so hard not to let her jaw drop, he is acting normally? What?

Realizing the face that Mai is currently making, Naru sighed and started to rub his temples.

"Naru..?" He heard, then, he stretched his hands, now touching, caressing her cheek. Mai's face burned up a little, faint red color tainting her cheeks.

"Mai... I am not sick, I am just being myself, and I mean it. It was stupid for me to leave you like that and not to mention I broke your heart." he said, Mai could see that he was saying the truth, from the pained expression he was giving her.

They stayed like that for couple of minute in silence,

"So… you're not sick?" Mai asked, again.

"Yes Mai, is it so weird for me to act like this?" He asked

"But… you're emotional Naru! It is soooo unlike you!" She defended

"Is it weird to be emotional to someone you love?" He said, his hand shifting from her cheeks to her hand, squeezing it slightly.

Mai's face turned red by his statement (And not to mention he is holding her hand now). Seriously though, who would have thought that one-day, the great Narcissist, Oliver Davis, would be this emotional to a girl? Luella would cry rivers for sure.

And again, the room was filled with silence. Mai averted her gaze from Naru, strands of her hair hiding her now red face.

"Mai?" she heard her long time crush saying, her eyes slowly traveling towards the voice. She was going to say something until…

"Jouchan!" a familiar voice rang as the hospital door slide open. The voice that was trying to reach her these couple of years, the voice that she ignored no matter how desperate it called her.

Mai's heart tightened as she saw Bou-san, Ayako, Masako, John, Yasuhara, and Lin. She has to admit, she was being such a jerk.

Mai avoided the stares that she received from them, she didn't know what to say. She heard steps coming closer, and the next thing she knew she heard a loud slap. Her eyes were now locked to Ayako's, who was on the verge of sheading tears.

"Do you know how worried we were!?" She shouted, the rest of the gang saw this with their mouth hanging, well… they did not expect THAT. Mai was shocked at first, but soon tears filled her eyes. She started to sob and her body was shaking uncontrollably.

"I'm… Sorry…" She managed to say although it was faint. Soon she felt warm arms wrapping around her upper torso and hear Ayako's voice, now soft.

"Mai… we were worried sick about you, you know?"

"I'm.. sorry Ayako, I'm sorry everyone…I'm sorry I made you guys worried" Mai said again

As Ayako whispered calming words to her, the rest of the SPR gang, minus Lin, came forward and had a group hug.

"Mou Jouchan! We were worried!" Bou-san said

"You know Taniyama-san! My dear Bou-san couldn't even eat properly worrying about you!" Yasuhara said

"Hey! I'm not yours!" Bou-san yelled

"Now, now, calm down mate, we are at the hospital so we shouldn't be so loud." John said, trying to calm down Bou-san.

Mai giggled at this scene, nothing changed she thought. As Mai shifted her gaze, her eyes met Masako's.

"Masako…" she said, the young medium, stepped forward, closer to Mai. Masako's hair was now longer, and she looked more matured.

"Mai… I was worried sick too. Why didn't you contact me?" knowing that Mai was in her previous state because of Naru, she wished Mai would have come to her and rely on her more.

"I'm sorry…" Mai mumbled, right now that was the only thing she could say.

Masako stared at Mai for a moment and the atmosphere of the room became a little awkward. Bou-san tried to change the atmosphere by saying something, but before he could do it, Masako opened her mouth,

"This means we have a lot of things to catch up." She said, Mai was surprised by this and so was the team, Mai smiled at this,

"Un" She said softly.

After having a little 'catch up time' with the members, that included Ayako smacking Bou-san's head, Bou-san having a quarrel with Yasuhara and Ayako, hospital nurse barging in into the room telling them to be quite, and not to mention Madoka came afterwards, which leads to more noises and more angry nurses. They all went home after receiving glares from Naru since they would not keep their voices low, and probably because he wanted to be alone with Mai. Naru closed the door and was sighing.

'They never change do they' He thought. He took a glance at Mai who was staring at him

"Mai, I know I am handsome but you know you should stop staring" he said with a smirked

Mai's face burned up by this, she huffed and avoided his gaze. And silence was once again brought to the room. 'Geez what's with this silence today' Naru thought. Although he knew it was unlike Mai to drop this subject, usually she would fight back by saying Jerk and such. He slowly walked towards her and place his right hand on her cheek. Soon, their eyes were locked.

"Does it hurt?" he asked. Mai seem to be confused for a minute, before she realized he was asking about her cheek which was slapped earlier. She placed her hand on his, enjoying the warmth on her cheek.

"It doesn't hurt anymore, Naru" she said softly

Naru nodded in response, and sat next to her.

"So, Mai what's your answer?" he asked. This time, Mai knew immediately what he was asking about, her face turned to shades of red.

"Uhm… I …" she said, avoiding his gaze

"Mai, you know I need an answer, right?" he questioned, Mai knew he was not a patient person, and she know this is like a dream come true for her, her long time crush asked her to go out with him. But then,

"I… I don't know Naru" she managed to speak as she looked into his eyes. She saw a hint of sadness, surprise, and frustration in his eyes.

"It's a no then?" he mumbled, desperation and sadness showing in his voice. With a brief silence from Mai, he took that as a no. As he tried to stand up, he felt a tug on his shirt. He glanced back to Mai, who was in verge of tears.

"Mai…?"

"It's not like that Naru! I love you but…" she cried as tears began to fall.

"But?" he asked, again, sitting next to her.

"I'm afraid."

HEY! SO THAT'S CHAPTER 5! So, the story is kind of focused to Mai and Naru right now, but don't worry, there would be horror and scary stuff! Again, I thank everyone who read and support this story. Don't forget to read and review!
