Chapter 4: Remembering
The priestess stood there looking at him as if she was unsure of what to make of the situation that they were now faced with. "Are you where to try and kill me as well." Sesshoumaru did not answer, only continuing to glare at the woman. As if he would try anything when he set out to do something it just got done. He could felt both demon energy and miko energy coming from the girl. The same spiritual energy that he had felt from his temporary camp but as close as he was now the intensity greatly exceeded his previous assessment.
"Are you a priestess?" he said keeping his face unemotional. This girl was obviously a treat to his lands if she ever ventured into them. "Yes," was all the answer he got. "You are a demon also." Sesshoumaru saw the girl narrow her eyes in aggravation nevertheless she sighed and answered "yes". With that Sesshoumaru turned and began to walk toward the forest.
"Wait! Sesshoumaru that's your name, right. " The inu-youkai offered a sideway nod. "Thank you, for helping me," she said giving him a smile that revealed her fangs. Ignoring the fact that this strange woman would dear to refer to him in just a familiar manner he replied. "Safe your gratitude for someone how wants it wench, this Sesshoumaru was merely investigating a possible treat to his lands." At that the great dog demon went off into the night in the direction of Rin and Jaken.
As Yuuko watched as the dog demon faded into the surrounding shadows and thought about his presence at the village. 'He was clearly a powerful demon. Why would he come to a simple human village? Perhaps he was once of those demons that found pleasure in rutting with young human maidens and that come to get someone satisfy his needs'. She remembered the way he moved with his sword, he was clearly a great fighter and the cat demon that said that the western lands would belong to her after she defeated him meaning that he is the lord of the west. The crescent moon was also a dead giveaway the sun was it the east as the moon was to the west.
"Lady Yuuko I am afraid that I am going to have to ask you to leave." While she stood there thinking about the mysterious man she had fail to notice that the headman of the village had approach her. "Lady Yuuko the villagers are scared that you may attract more demons or that the cat demons will return to try and find you," said the headman in a scared and apologetic voice. The man reeked of fear to the point that Yuuko could almost taste it on her tongue.
She replied, "It is fine I understand," as she came to leave the now destroyed village. "Wait, we offer you a place for the night." She looked at the place she had been staying for the past 12 days. Yuuko had come upon the village during her travels. The village was plague with a disease that was killing off the people. Unable to simply past the village and not try to help she had ventured in and using her expert knowledge of herbs had found a way to help combat the disease. They were reluctant to accept her aid at first but after more villagers became sick they welcome your treatment under the guidance of their healer. She had only lost three villagers and those were elderly and the sickness had too far destroyed their fragile bodies. They could not be saved but she could ease their pain and she did. Yuuko knew that many of the people that she had saved were now dead and their homes burnt. She wished she could stay and at least help bury those that died but the fear and despair of the people were high in the air that she could not stand to cause them anymore problems or uneasiness. "Thank you however you will need all the rooms that you have." The man bowed deeply and Yuuko returned the gesture before disappearing into the forest.
Kagome could feel the sun going through the small window of Kaede's hut. She and inuyasha had returned late yesterday afternoon. As they arrived in the village they were met by Miroku, Kirara, Sango and Shippou and were dragged out into different directions. Their friends could clearly see that something had transpired between them. Well, it was probably obvious to any villager how know the two. They had both enter the village walking a far distance from each other with deep blush dusting their cheeks. There no arguments or even speaking both them, there was silence while they occasionally stole shy glances at each other. The realization of their previous interaction had struck home and so had the embarrassment of their out of character behavior.
Kagome had told Sango of the tale that cause their strange behavior and expressed her surprise at her own boldness. Meanwhile Inuyasha had told Miroku the story of what happened to them from his own point of view. Shippou was with Miroku and Inuyasha but not by choice that must was certain. He had wanted to go with Kagome and Sango but Miroku had said that they were going to have a man's talk and then asked if he was a man or not. Of course he was a man and so he had ended up with Miroku and Inu-baka talking about how he and Kagome had kissed. He did not see the big deal sure they had kiss and that just reinforce the already noticeable fact that they cared about each other but he was not sure if he approved of inuyasha yet for his secret mother. Inuyasha was still caught up with Kikyou and that will no doubt hurt kagome as it always does. Really, all he had wanted was to get to Kagome so that his could get the sweet that she had promise him and sit in her lap so she could rub her hand through his fur.
Kagome walked outside the hut after searching it and not finding any of the gang or even Kaede present. She was about to made her way to the river where she thought that she could at least find one of them. "Kagome!" she turned to see Shippou running form the direction of the shrine. Good morning Shippou," Kagome greeted to the young kitsune. "Lady Kaede is near the shrine with Inuyasha and the other. Some strangers came to speak with her because of a demon is attacking their village and Inuyasha thinks that it maybe shard related."
Kagome set out to find her friends at the shrine and discover more about these strangers. There at the shrine she saw two men standing with Sango and the band. The men looked awfully dirty and their clothes were burnt in several areas but they still seemed unharmed. Unusually the young inu-youkai looked interested in what the men appeared to be saying. He would often just want to know the direction of the village, so that he could run off and got himself into a fight. All you really need was a hint that it involves a shard. Kagome came into hearing range just in time to hear a name it was Yuuko.
