Disclaimer: I don't own Young Justice, but I do own Andie Kyle.

Short chapter here. I won't make it a habit.

I stood and stared.

It's still there – these eyes which aren't my own. Rounded to a perfect sphere, the irises are shades lighter than my natural green. A black slit cuts vertically in the center where my pupils once were. And at the edge, furthest away from my tear ducts, a dust of black stains my lids.

A loud knock caused me to jump away from the mirror.

"Andie." Robin called. "Get a grip. You can't stay in there all day."

I ignored him and re-focused on my reflection.

The door creaked slightly, I could only guess he was leaning against it. "You're in a multi-million dollar manor, Bruce and Alfred are out, and you've got me for company." I could hear the teasing laughter in his voice. "How can you not be happy?"

I glared at the door. "Oh, I don't know. Maybe because there's a demonic soul that can possess me whenever it wants. Or, maybe because that demonic soul is so powerful, that I can't completely suppress it."

He paused, all humour gone. "…I don't know how to help you with that."

"I know," I whispered. Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath and made my way towards the bathrooms' door. "So, why did you bring me here? Didn't you have some great date planned?"

He sidestepped as I exited the bathroom. "I never said 'great date'. Your expectations are way too high."

I gave him a withering look. "Too high? We once went on patrol and you tried to pass it off as a date." I snorted. "Trust me, if I had high expectations, you're not the guy I'd be with."

He raised an eyebrow, showing only mild annoyance as he went to sit on the edge of his desk. "Tell me how you really feel." he deadpanned.

I leant against the bathroom door, allowing my shoulders to sag. "…Stressed." I said, purposely misinterpreting his words. "Things are bad, Robin. And each second," I pointed to my eyes, "I can feel things getting worse."

He stilled, blue eyes staring at me. I'd discovered, that on the rare occasions he removed his mask, his emotions were well hidden. But not recently; not now.

His eyes wavered with concern. A second later, he pushed off the desk and turned away. "Want something to eat?" he said, already out the door.

I tapped my fingers against the kitchen counter, and nodded towards Robin's bowl. "It's 11am. What's with the ice-cream?"

He looked down at me from his seat on the kitchen counter. "See if you can find the cereal in this place, and then come and lecture me."

I glanced around. His kitchen was a pristine blend of marble table tops and mahogany cupboards. There were too many compartments to count. I hopped onto the counter beside him. "You act like you don't live here."

He shrugged. "The kitchens Alfred's territory. Enough said."

I made a small sound of acknowledgment, thoughts already drifting. My fingers tapped a tune on the marble table top. I stared absently as my mind began to whirl:

The Cats Essence had to go, that much was obvious. After all, it was taking control of me. Magic seemed to be the only answer. But I needed someone powerful; experienced. There was only one girl who came to mind. We weren't exactly friends, but …

"Do you keep in touch with Zatanna?" I blurted.

His bowl slipped from his hands before he hastily caught it. He stood up, and placed it in the sink. "Why the sudden interest in –"

"Your ex-girlfriend?"

"I was going to say my ex-teammate."

I shrugged. "I think she can help me. I want to get rid of The Cats Essence."

His brow furrowed in thought. "The last time we spoke, she was still on a break from the superhero business. She's searching for a spell to help her Father."

"And when was that?"

"About a few weeks ago."

"Right." I gave him a tight smile as jealousy coiled my insides. "So, are you two… friends now?"

He eyed me slowly, and then paused, taking time to pick his words. "I'm friends with a lot of people."

I nodded stiffly, and then jumped off the counter, ready to walk away. "Why don't you call her then? I'm sure you two friends have lots to talk about."

He raised an eyebrow. "…Maybe later. We are on a date, after all."

I couldn't find my voice. I just shrugged.

He narrowed his eyes, I could feel his analysing gaze. After a few seconds, he shook his head. "Anyway, I should be heading back to Mount Justice." He brushed past me as he went. But then, he paused. "Just for the record, there's nothing going on between me and Zee."

"I never said there was, Robin."

"Then what's your problem?"

I shrugged. "Nothing. Nothing at all."

"You crashed your motorcycle?!" Wally yelled, from his seat on the couch.

I tinkered in the kitchen, fetching items for M'gaan. She pointed at Superboy, who rolled his eyes before tossing her a sieve. Kaldur was yet to arrive; Mount Justice wasn't the same without the uptight fish man.

"Yeah. Yesterday." Robin replied, shrugging. He muttered something, and I leaned over the kitchen table straining to hear.

Just then, Wally's head snapped back. I held his gaze, for a proud five seconds, before looking away. He had it in for me. And I couldn't blame him. He turned his attention back to Robin. "Batman's gonna flip."

"Don't remind me." He looked up at the ceiling, and seconds passed before he re-focused on Wally. "Artemis wouldn't want to see you like this."

Wally worked his jaw. The dark circles under his eyes seemed to shift and ripple. "She's not dead dude; don't talk like that."

"Then stop –"

The zeta tube flashed brightly and Black Canary stepped through, followed by Kaldur. "Good," she said, "you're all here. Follow me, we're training outside today." She left through the zeta tube.

Robin pulled me aside as we went. He pointed to my face. "A black mask?"

I nodded. "No point freaking everyone out with my cat eyes. Besides, If Batman sees them, it'll just prove that he was right to suspend me."

"So," Robin said with a smirk, "it was fine to freak me out with those cat eyes?"

"Oh, shut up," I muttered.

We walked on in silence as the others disappeared, one by one, through the zeta tube. Then, Robin rifled through his pockets and gave me a piece of paper. I unfolded it – an address.

"I called Zee; explained the situation." He said. "She gave me that address, and said we should meet her there at 5pm today."

"Great," I said. "But, wasn't she searching for a spell to free her dad from Dr. Fate?"

"Yeah. And?"

"And… she just dropped all of that… for you? Because you asked?" I said in a carefully controlled voice.

He stopped walking. "If you're implying something, spit it out." I said nothing, and he gave an exasperated sigh. "Zee and I have history, Andie."

"Of course you do." I muttered. I shoved the paper against his chest, and followed after the others. "Meet you there at Five."

Alright, important question for later chapters guys: Should I bring Selena into the present? (she'll be my own version) Or is she better left in the past/ flashbacks?
