"Dam it Maria how could you let this happen! How could you think this was a good idea!" Captain America was standing in the front of a large crowd of superheroes his hands on her metal desk.

Maria looked at him as she stood up from her black leather chair, "I did what was needed she was broken and compromised."

"Just another way shield gets into matters it shouldn't." Hank Pym stood beside Captain America he was in more of a rage then he was.

Maria glared at him, "Do not forget who is letting you run your little A.I. group!"

"You only let me run it because it could help you!"

"This is was to help Janet the alternative was to let her become a member of the Royals."

Tony Stark sighed, "Yes we know it was for her own good but there had to be a better way then let a monster like this Lupe torture her. I am sure Hank, Reed, Banner or I could have found an easier way."

Maria reached into her desk and pulled out three folders handing one to Tony, Hank, and Banner, "These are scans of her mind, reports on her mental conditions, and reports on what happened inside her mind. It also includes in full detail what Lupe saw and did."

Banner who was sitting back keeping his anger in check began to look through a folder setting it down a moment later, "These have not been doctored at all?"

Maria shook her head, "I knew you would all be coming in and I knew you would want to see everything we knew."

Hank put his down followed by Tony before he spoke up, "That is crazy there is no way a person's brain scans can change so much it is like she was a completely different person."

Hank was still angry, "I still don't like it."

Banner put his hand on Hank's shoulder, "I know but you read it as well that was the only way they could have done it. Strange even said the spells placed in her mind were deeper then he could have reached from the outside even when they weekend her like they did."

"But the drugs!" Captain America hit the desk during world war 2 he had seen many soldiers become addicted to morphine and how much it hurt them. He had seen the cruel symptoms that came out when they ran out and what they looked like after being on it for even a few months. "Do you know what that will do to her!"

Maria nodded, "I know more than you do!" Growing up where she did she saw how drugs killed families and people. She had seen what happened to the agents in the field who got hurt and had to rely on morphine to get through a few days and how they could not get off it for months. She had seen how even what was called safe opiates did to agents under her watch or fighting beside her before her days in shield it was a drug she tried to remove from all shield medical kits but it was too cheap to produce and buy that they couldn't stop it if they wanted.

Banner also knew he once experimented with them to help keep the hulk in control and it did help until he ran out. "I have been working with Maria a lot lately and I am sure this was the only way."

Hank was now getting angry again he had battled with addiction many times and saw how often it hurt Janet, "She is not going to like that you gave her that crap! Also how could you not tell us about what was going on!"

"Because I could not trust any of you I know one of you would have tried something to fix her yourself and she would have run. If that is your only problem now is that we did not tell you about her condition that must mean none of you can think of a way that could have fixed her." Maria smiled a bit she was winning a battle of wits with some of the smartest men in the world and it felt good.

"How long did you suspect this?" Captain America knew they had lost the battle of fixing her their way especially if Tony was not saying anything he would never let a chance to show how much better he was then the rest slip past him. Banner he was calm which meant he had given in to Maria's decision and hank well he was just to invested emotionally to be anything but mad.

"Since a month after we rescued her things just weren't right I had her watched closely." Maria pulled out another set of files, "Her request from us for information and the changes in her business models. She also signed new contracts weeks after she was out of the hospital some submitted only days after she got out. Plus the way she fought and acted around others was different not the kind we would expect from a person who just got out of that kind of situation."

"That shouldn't have been a sign each person's reaction to traumatic events will vary. Tony began to drink, Cap took to hiding in the past, Hank is still battling mental issues for various reasons and I am still coming to terms with my rage and hatred of the world." Banner was not pointing out failures but rather things that they all knew were true, "There is no set parameters for mental behavior as much as we would like there to be."

"We would have watched anybody anyway after that but hers just seemed odd plus we got this." She pulled out another black folder with a shield logo on it, "Look at how many companies she worked with that fit in line with royal connections."

Tony picked it up going over it quickly, "I work with one of these companies too they make good fibreglass molds."

Maria nodded, "Yes some were just companies that sold mass produced parts and really have no idea they are selling to a criminal organization. Those are the ones highlights green she was using some of them before her capture it is the red ones we need to worry about. She sold technology to them a few weeks after getting rescued and they are owned by Royals even after she knew this she continued to work with them."

Captain America crossed his arms, "Don't you think she could be using them to get info."

"That was our first guess but when she began to sell Shield only technology it raised a lot of flags." Maria sighed, "Especially when she sold them at an extremely high cost that should have bankrupted the other company."

"So she was using it to move Royal money into her company without selling it to them or putting it up on the free market." Banner had used many methods to get money while he was on the run so he could follow trails like that easily, "But that did not give you the right to hand her over to a torturer."

"I have already assured you that she was safe each time he entered me, three high ranking agents and five doctors watched the whole time." Maria was realizing this was going to be a long argument that circled around many times.

Hank hit the desk with his fist, "You sat there and watched him do this to her! Dam it Maria she is your friend and an avenger how many times has she saved the world!"

"Exactly she is an avenger a hero with a lot of responsibility how could I let her go on like that!" Maria stood, "It is easy for you to criticize me now but what would you have done nothing any of you could have done would have fixed her. She is lucky I made the choice I did instead of winding up in a jail surrounded by people she helped put in there!"

"We would not have done that we would have kept her in a secure location!" Tony began to get angry, "You should have let us try first!"

"You would have put her in a cell away from the world surrounded by people who she can manipulate! How many of you would have done all you could to have gotten her out of a cell one of you put up if she just asked and said we were wrong! We would have lost her and when she was of no use they would have killed her like they do with their own!"

"Give us this Lupe then!" Hank was staring right into Maria's eyes, "Let's make him feel what he did to her!"

"You can't! Number one he does not feel pain! Number two he is an agent of Shield now!"

"Wait you made him an agent! Why would you do that?" Captain America was confused, "Why would you let an enemy run free on the helicarrier! If Fury was in charge!"

"Which one! They both would have made this decision beside jr was one of the agents watching with me!"

"There is no way he would have let this happen!" Captain America punched the wall denting the metal a bit.

Banner turned around quickly and left the room running hard down the hall he could no longer contain his rage. He could feel the hulk bursting out of him as he pushed open a door to a hanger, "Open the doors now!" A second later the hanger doors opened wide and Banner leapt from the helicarrier his body rolling back past the window for Maria's office then turning into the hulk and falling straight down a huge thud was heard followed by an angry howl.

"What are we above?" Tony was now looking out the window at a huge dust cloud.

"A Royal controlled airfield I made sure if he went off we had a good target for him." Maria smiled a bit.

"I guess it is my turn to speak." Janet had heard Banner running down the hall and slowly made her way to this meeting she was on crutches and in a god awful pale blue hospital gown, "You really shouldn't have done this without me."

Hank ran over to her, Janet are you okay?"

Janet smiled, "I am fine."

Captain America brought her a chair, "Please sit Janet you shouldn't be up."

Janet shook her head as she kept moving until she was standing beside Maria, "I have been in bed for a week and before that I was in a chair for three straight days I want to stand." This to her was a moment she needed to be strong needed to show them she was alright.

Tony looked her over, "At least you are on your feet after what Maria did to you."

Janet shook her head, "She did not do this to me Tony and you all need to get through your heads!" She smiled at Maria, "I am sorry about them."

"It is okay I am use to the male ego they think all us women need to be protected and defended." Maria smiled back at her, "They kind of just barged in I wanted this to wait a bit until you could talk with them too."

Janet nodded, "What happened to me is horrible I know but it was the only way I know that I came to terms with it while I was lying in bed. Maria had no choice but to let Lupe as he is now known do what he did. If you were there you would have realized just to get me to a point where I could see myself they had to tear down walls and barriers put up by a psychic almost as powerful as Emma Frost when she had part of the phoenix force in her. Plus her magic was on the same level as Strange it was not something any of you could handle." She turned to Tony who was about to his mouth, "No it was not technologically based magic and quite arguing that it does not exist." She turned to Captain America, "Yes I know you think that letting him join shield is wrong but there have been times when monsters have been more help working for us then against us." She took Hank's hand, "As for you I know you care about me I know you hate to see me hurt but do not forget I have taken pain for the greater good before. I have hurt myself protecting others it is about time I took some to help me."

The group of men put their heads down defeated they knew nothing more they said would help it would only make it worse for Janet. Tony turned around his dark blue stealth suit forming around him, "Fine then but I am going to help the hulk take out that airfield I might not be able to take them out fully but I can at least hurt them."

Captain America nodded, "I am right behind you Tony."

Hank shrunk down and landed on Tony's shoulder, "as am I."

Ironman left the room captain America taking his shield off his back and following him Captain America stopped and turned back to look at Maria, "When this is done I want to meet this Lupe and have a talk with him."

Maria nodded, "I am sure you do." She waited for him to leave and close the door before she fell back in her chair, "Thank you for that Janet I had been arguing with them for a few hours."

Janet smiled, "I know you have been." She dropped her right crutch then punched Maria in the face knocking her out of the chair.

Maria looked up at Janet, "I deserve that."

"You deserve a whole lot more then that! You let him torture me! You let him touch me again! You even let him into my mind!" She was holding herself up against the desk, "Do you know how much pain I was in!" Before Maria could answer Janet was yelling again, "Do you have any idea what I went through just to be okay last time when he did it for the royals! Now you let him go ahead and do it again with shield technology! Did you stop to think about this for a second and say hey this is a bad idea Janet might get mad! No you didn't you simply said it was the best way and went through with it you even watched him do it to me as I screamed as I begged to the cameras for relief!" She tossed her other crutch aside her anger now blocking the screaming pain in her body. Janet reached down and lifted Maria up, "You even made him an agent I get it he gave you intel but we could have gotten it another way!" She pushed Maria against a wall, "How can you justify letting a man who spent his life torturing and killing people into shield why not just open the doors and let Hydra come marching in and kill everyone the red skull thinks is unworthy. Maybe next you can hire Thanos to do PR and kill anybody who writes something bad about you." She punched Maria again holding her up, "What the hell is going on in your head!"

Maria spat out some blood to the side, "Right now?" She smiled, "It is good to have the old Janet back."

Janet stopped for a second and took a deep breath, "If you ever let him near me again that is it for him and you." She grabbed her crutches and left the room ready to cool down now glad he back was to Maria as she let out a little smile. "Thank you." The door closed Behind Janet as she walked down the hall back to the infirmary.

Maria dusted herself off and then fell back into her chair closing her eyes as she turned her face up to the lights, "She is not going to like what comes next."
