OK, Joy divorcing William was one of the three things I told you to guess at last night. That's my fault.
Also, it's either this chapter or the next one where I'm a wee bit mean, so beware on that one.
We're making short films in Media- like, two minutes. It's a preliminary task. We have to have someone walking out of a door, up/down stairs and then have a short conversation with someone, but then the rest is for us to come up with. It's given me a great idea for a story. It's Alvie, but it's in the future and I don't know wherever to leave it for the sequel or put it up as a separate story. What'd you guys think?
Alvie's directions now made sense. He was also stuck with the locket, once again. Just… literally stuck this time. He couldn't let go of it, as if it were Super-glued to his hand.
Elsie and Alokia were keeping quiet, probably wary of breaking his concentration or something. He was desperately trying to keep his cool, come up with a plan and keep them on track, but his head felt ready to explode.
They turned left and stumbled about fifty feet down a semi-dark corridor. Alvie hopped around trap triggers concealed in the floor, silently commanding his cousins to do the same thing.
At the end, they reached a set of double doors that fit perfectly to the ragged, earthen tunnel. They were a metallic blue with silvery artistic swirls with jagged spikes snapping from them at regular intervals, giving the beauty a deadly twist. They curled around a symbol Alvie didn't recognise. A rune of sorts, half-hidden in the shadows.
There was an indent in the wall, oddly shaped and tilted. It took a few seconds for Alvie to realise the locket was gradually heating up in his hand. He looked down at it and saw that the picture of the chariot had gained a sunny outline.
It clicked away from the locket and hovered above its host. When Alvie took hold of it as gently as he could, it stopped glowing.
"It looks like a puzzle piece." Alokia said, peering over Alvie's shoulder. Alvie looked at the indent and back at the piece before carefully slotting it in place.
The sunny glow returned, curling across the doors and shooing away the silvery sharp twists that hissed and jerked back angrily. Locks clicked and clashed all throughout the doors, which then swung inwards, revealing nothing but darkness.
Elsie flicked on her flashlight and shone it around. It just seemed to be a large entrance to somebody's mansion or something. If it wasn't for the dust and cobwebs lingering over everything, the boxes and furniture stored haphazardly would have indicated somebody recently moving in.
All armed with flashlights and knives, they padded forward carefully, checking their surroundings. Something crackled under their feet, dust swirling up and making them cough and splutter.
Alvie tripped, throwing a hand out to feel the sharp joint of a bare step beneath his palm. The girls turned their flashlights on him, illuminating a set of dusty, wooden stairs.
Elsie pulled him to his feet while Alokia checked around them. This place was horrible and it smelt of damp and neglect.
A scuffle caught their attention and they all directed their flashlights to the top of the stairs. All they saw was a brief glimmer of a shadow darting away to the right.
They came to some silent agreement and darted up the creaky steps. Elsie returned her knife to her pocket and summoned her bow, loading it and checking the left.
A door slammed somewhere behind them, to the right, and they all ran forward, cautiously checking every shadow, every twist and turn and the occasional room.
Something thudded and Alvie was off like a shot, throwing caution to the wind.
"Alvie!" Alokia hissed. She glanced around nervously, before they raced after him.
They found him a minute later, standing five or so feet from a figure in a hooded black cloak. The girls could barely see them as they blended with the shadows so well.
But there was something off about the figure. There was no warmth or movement. It was impossible to remain completely still, but this person didn't sway or stir or anything. They were practically a shadowy statue, which didn't sit well with Alokia, setting her nerves on edge.
Attempting to pull herself together, Alokia put her hand on Alvie's shoulder. "Are you OK?" She breathed. Alvie pulled away and took a step towards their new companion.
They didn't move at all, but Elsie sensed their wary eyes watching them. Watching them very carefully. Oh my gods, interrupting! Listening to music AND THERE WAS A HUNGER GAMES CATCHING FIRE TRAILER AD! SO EXCITED!
Footsteps scuffling to a stop behind her caught her attention. She notched an arrow and aimed at… some balding, fat guy?
Her confusion distracted her momentarily, but when she was back in focus, she found that four others were stood around them, three more men and a woman. Elsie only knew two of them- Luke and Harvey. The others were nameless silhouettes set on trapping them.
Luke stepped into the light cast by their flashlights and smiled as if they were here for tea.
"We're moving in here." He told them. "And you're going to join us."
I'm sorry, I know it's short. It's about four pages in my writing book, but I've got huge writing so it seemed more… But it means I can work on more chapters for this fic or others now! (After I've got food). And sorry about the interruption… I CAN'T WAIT FOR IT! :D
The bit I told you to look out for- next chapter. Definitely next chapter.
