To Awesome as Annabeth: Yeah, I finished it. Probably not my best, but it was my first ROTG. I kind of miss writing it, but hey. That's so unfair! I want Rolos now! Well… without being big-headed, that's a good reason to be impatient :P And I'm not going to kill Adrien! He's, like, five minutes old, get with it!
To Guest: I know, not my best, but I didn't have much inspiration sadly. Only a couple more chapters on this and then I'll wrap it up and work on a few others. And thank you! I'll do my best to make the next few chapters better! Just have to get over my stupid writer's block first.
As we're nearing the end of Alvie's story, (don't worry, I MIGHT do a sequel), I'm going to time-skip a bit so we can see how Crystal manages being the 'best big sister' :D
"Adrien, I'm going to kill you!"
"Not if you can't catch me!" He grinned devilishly at her and vanished. She cursed him in Ancient Greek, but that spurred her mother to join the bicker.
"Crystal! Language!"
"You don't even know Ancient Greek!"
"I know the curses, Nico uses them often enough!" Crystal stomped pointedly down the stairs, keeping an eye on the shadows for that six year old pain-in-the-ass of a brother.
Adrien- or Addy, because it annoyed him- had- annoyingly- inherited some demigod powers. If Crystal hadn't any, she didn't know. Nico had tested her and it was either a lack of concentration or a lack of powers- something she found highly insulting. All the same, it had been somewhat funny to have a baby in the Moses basket one second and then said baby on top of the fridge. How he managed that, they will never know. He had only been three months old.
"Are you sure I didn't do that?" Crystal had asked repeatedly.
"Pretty sure." Joy replied every time.
Huffing irritably, she sunk onto the bottom step and glowered around their home. A year ago, they had moved here. In a few months, Crystal had the choice to move out, if she wanted to, but she didn't want to live alone. It was taking some persuading for Alvie to agree to move in with her. Even after nearly seven years of dating, he still got nervous.
Adrien materialised in front of her, deep brown eyes wide with innocence and mischievousness playing on his lips. Crystal grabbed him before he could vanish again. He hadn't quite worked out how to shadow-travel out of someone holding him without taking them too.
"Where did you put it?"
"Why do you want to know?" He challenged cheekily.
"'Cos I'm going out with Alvie later and I need my money. So, where is it?"
"Oh, I don't know." He said airily, as if they had all the time in the world. Crystal tightened her hold on him and he squirmed uncomfortably. He hated hugs as much as Hades did. "I'll get it, I'll get it."
"Promise?"
"MAM! CRYSTAL'S HOLDING ME PRISONER!"
"Snitch!"
"Crystal, be nice to your brother!"
"Or what?" Crystal called defiantly.
"I'll tell your dad!"
"How terrifying." Crystal muttered, but she let her brother go with a warning. "Get my purse and we'll be even." Adrien studied her sceptically. "Now, Addy!"
"Don't-call-me-Addy! I don't like it!"
"Purse or I'll call you Addy forever." She poked him in the stomach playfully. Adrien dragged his feet, making his way up the stairs as slowly as he could. Crystal lost patience after three seconds and ran up after him, two at a time.
"Ha!" He managed, before shadows coiled around him. He found himself in the cupboard under the stairs and decided this was a good enough place for now.
"ADRIEN!" The doorbell rang and he heard Crystal storming down the stairs. "Adrien, I'm running late! I need my purse!" He heard the door open. "Hi Alvie."
"You OK?"
"No, I have an annoying little brother."
"He's under the stairs." There were footsteps, but Alvie was blocking Adrien from shadow-traveling.
The door was thrown open.
"Ha!" Crystal grabbed him again. Adrien caught a glimpse of his sister's boyfriend over her shoulder. Alvie was a nice guy, yet his psychic abilities were annoying. "You've got five seconds to tell me where my purse is or I'm throwing you out the window."
"Why don't you get Alvie to tell you?" Adrien grumbled. Crystal looked back at their guest, who shrugged and left for the kitchen.
"And you were so excited to be a big sister." He smiled, returning seconds later with her mother and her purse.
"He's not so bad when he's asleep." Adrien kicked his legs, wiggling in an attempt to get down. Joy tutted disapprovingly, but Crystal was keeping her brother off the ground for now.
"We should go." Alvie said, checking his watch. "We'll miss the film otherwise."
"Ugh, fine." Crystal dropped her brother. He landed on his feet, retaliating by stamping on her toes. She hopped about on her other foot, spewing a series of curses towards her brother. Yes, she loved him, but he was so irritating!
Alvie directed her out before she could chase her brother and kill him. "I never knew being the older sibling would be so difficult!"
"I did warn you."
"Well, that was your family you used as an example. You're all mad."
"But he's Nico's son as much as you're Nico's daughter." Crystal exhaled slowly, running her hands through her hair.
"I know, I know. He's always taking my stuff though." Alvie just nodded understandably. Crystal took his hand. "Are you alright? You look tired."
"I'm fine."
"No you're not, don't lie to me."
"It's just stuff."
"What kind of stuff?" He hesitated. "Alvie, how many times do I have to tell you that you can talk to me anytime you want about anything?" He gave a weak smile, but it didn't reach his shadowed eyes. "Has someone said something?"
"No."
"What then?" He glanced around, scrutinising. Crystal did too, but she noticed nothing out of the ordinary. Instead, she looked at him. He was pale and looked like he had skipped a few good meals lately. Shadows under his eyes did nothing to help improve his pallor. "Is someone after you?"
"I was only trying to help."
"What happened?" He paused uncertainly again. Crystal squeezed his hand reassuringly and he sighed.
"A baby buggy rolled into the road and I… pushed it back, but with-" He waved at his head and Crystal nodded. "Somebody must have noticed something 'cos they started screaming and pointing at me."
"When was this?"
"On the way back from last seeing you."
"It'll be OK, Alvie."
"Don't you watch the news?"
"No. It's depressing." He bit his lip. "Why?" She demanded, her heart thudding. "Did somebody… did you…"
"CCTV." He mumbled.
"Is the cinema such a good idea then?" He shrugged. "Look, we'll go back to yours or something, just in case. We can always watch something there."
"I don't want you hurt."
"I'll be fine, don't wo- ow!" She tripped and if she hadn't been holding Alvie's hand, she'd have fallen flat on her face. They both looked back and saw a bar of solid gold on the floor.
Weirdly, Alvie grinned.
"Knew it."
"Knew what?" He didn't reply though, stooping to pick the bar up before anyone else could. "Alvie, explain. What did you know?"
"I'll explain in a minute. Come on." He took her hand again and hailed a taxi. Crystal was about to protest, but she was distracted by a black car with tinted windows slowing down and crossing to behind the taxi. Alvie had seen it too, but only hurried her into the taxi.
Alvie did explain and it later occurred to her that she was on the run with a fugitive.
Fun times.
OK, more of a filler. My brain is officially dead at the mo. I didn't update last night 'cos I was watching the first four Friends episodes. My friend is lending me the seasons. And I don't know if I'll be able to update again tonight, so this is what you lot get. I'm sorry it's poopie.
