The world really needed to stop spinning and breathing needed to stop burning. Her throat felt like someone had poured vats of acid down it and her stomach seemed to be rather unhappy. Opening her eyes, she found they weren't particularly fond of her at that moment either, the pale light searing and feeling like they were about to explode.
"About time you woke up." A voice grunted next to her. "Honestly thought you weren't going to make it for a bit there." She squinted to her left and started.
Nico didn't look impressed.
She tried to speak, but croaked instead. He sighed and sat forward, producing a canteen of nectar. "You can't have much- anymore and you'll burn up completely." She did feel feverish, but the godly drink soothed her body's disagreements. "So, Little Miss Disappear…" His eyes narrowed and she suddenly resented having a son of Hades for a father. "Care to explain?"
"Alvie…" She gasped, trying to sit up.
"Yeah, where is that loon?"
"Melanie…"
"Who?"
"I… don't know…" She finished feebly. Nico huffed irritably, sinking back against the wall. "You… here?"
"Yes, I'm here. And don't think you can explain your way out of having Alvie wipe our memories."
"Didn't…"
"Oh, his idea, was it?" Crystal stayed quiet. "Bloody Jacksons." He grumbled. "Any idea where he is so I can wring his neck?" She ignored him, something clicking in her fogged mind.
If they had their memories back… that meant Alvie's spell had worn off. And if his spell had worn off…
No.
He probably removed it himself, trying to right his wrongs. There was no other reason. Crystal refused to entertain or accept any other reason. He was just somewhere helping someone no doubt, or buried in a book.
Nico got to his feet and pulled her up, looping her arm about his shoulders. "C'mon," He muttered, "the others are waiting outside."
"Others?"
"I got here first, no duh, but… well, let's just say Alvie's going to be very well acquainted with his room."
With his help, Crystal stumbled along corridors and out the main entrance. He explained he would have shadow-travelled them out, but she was in no fit state to go through that right now. He also told her how they had all suddenly remembered them and pieces started to fall into place. "Percy rang in a right state and I think that's the first time I've ever heard him threaten to bury one of his kids alive."
"He-"
"He won't, don't worry. Like I said, Alvie's practically grounded for the rest of his life."
"But-"
"Are you sure you don't know where he is?" Crystal managed to shake her head and her father sighed again. "Oh, Percy is just going to love him. And don't get me started on Annabeth…"
"Crystal!"
"Silly!"
"Addy... here?"
"Do you really trust that kid to be alone with anyone but Joy?" Crystal shook her head again and Nico nodded once. They were nearly to the others now. Percy and Annabeth were nowhere to be seen. Their two eldest sons were bickering with Elsie and Alokia, all four of them gesturing wildly. Crystal tried to understand what they were arguing about, but it was Ancient Greek, damn them.
Joy ran forward then, Adrian on her heels. Nico let Crystal go to avoid being dragged into the suffocating hug.
"Hi Mom…" Adrian collided with Crystal's legs and fiercely hugged them. Crystal weakly tousled his hair. "Addy…" She said in greeting.
"I'm not Addy!" He said with very little protest, frowning up at her with his deep brown eyes. "You bad! Run away! Make us forget! Make Mommy cry! Very bad!" Joy was indeed crying, clinging to Crystal as if she planned to never let her go. Crystal patted her on the back and mumbled reassurances.
"Crystal!" The cousins had stopped arguing and hurried over. "Where's Alvie?" Tobias demanded. Crystal didn't have the heart to tell him.
Thankfully, Nico was literally heartless.
"She said she doesn't know where he is."
"What?!" Max raged, an axe materialising in his hand. Tobias put his arm out to stop him and Joy shielded Crystal, staring Max down over her shoulder. Nico didn't react at all, retrieving his cell phone and texting his cousins.
"The twins are on their way. We'll sort this out together, just stay calm." He sent Max a withering look and the axe disappeared.
The Poseidon twins and their spouses arrived via pegasi minutes later. Percy dismounted before Blackjack even landed properly, Riptide in hand. Annabeth hurried after him, grabbing his arm and calming him a fraction.
"Where's Alvie?!" Crystal made a mental note to remain in Percy's good books from that moment on. She had heard a lot about his son of Poseidon abilities, but she could never really link up that destruction and power with Alvie's kind, funny and sometimes goofy father.
"I know where he is!"
"Is that that Melanie person?" Nico asked, drawing his Stygian Iron sword and casting Crystal a side-long questioning look. Crystal nodded.
"Melanie?" Alokia questioned. "I know you!" For the first time ever, Alokia was angry.
She snapped an arrow into her bow and aimed at Melanie, the wire pulled taut. Even Louisa was stunned, enough so to not load her own bow. She just marvelled at her daughter as though she had never seen her before. "Where's my cousin?!" Alokia yelled. Melanie just smirked.
"As if I'd tell you." She lazily waved her hand and Alokia's bow burned white hot. Alokia cried out in pain and dropped her weapon, stumbling backwards. Leo hurriedly checked her over, retrieving a bottle of water from his tool belt and tipping the contents over his daughter's palms.
Melanie contemplated the rest of the assembled demigods and legacies, tapping her finger on her chin. "You have a mortal in your presence." Her cold eyes lingered on Joy. "How… tasteful." Nico sidled to stand protectively in front of Joy and their children, sword at the ready. "Oh, please." Melanie pointed at him and Nico grunted in effort, his blade far too heavy to lift.
Her eyes passed over the others, stopping on Max. "I'll tell you." She smirked. "For a price, of course." Max glanced at his parents questioningly. "Don't look to them for help. I've made Alvie go away, I can make them go away too."
"What's the price?"
"Blood." Her eyes flicked to his exposed wrists. He put his arms behind his back, glowering and muttering a curse. "Now, now. What's a few drops of blood compared to your brother's life?" She flicked her fingers and hurled a torn, white rag to them.
"That's…" Tobias started, his voice faltering. Annabeth had the gall to pick it up, her eyes brimming with anger.
"Alvie's cloak." She ran her fingers over the ripped material, the storm raging stronger behind the grey. Turning it over, her eyes widened, momentarily startled, and she drew her hand away.
She drew her hand away scarlet…
Dum de dum, nothing to see here… :D
