Disclaimer: No, I don't own Grimm. Yes I own Charlotte and my OCs. I do wish I owned Grimm though. Otherwise I wouldn't be working at my shitty job and still work on my degree.
Chapter 15
Her cell phone started blaring out as it kept ringing. Charlotte groaned loudly as she got up. She reached for her phone and saw that it was Alex that was calling and answered it without bothering to check the time.
"Hello?"
"Oh my god you live!"
"Hi Alex," Charlotte said, sitting up on the bed.
"Do you have any idea what time it is?" Alex asked.
She looked down at her watch. "Um midnight?" Charlotte asked.
"Nice try. Why don't you go for twelve in the afternoon," Alex replied.
"Oh shit," Charlotte said.
"What happened? Nick calls me early this morning before he came into work freaking out and saying you didn't come home. Did you two have a fight or something? He didn't mention anything since he's freaking over you," Alex explained.
"We didn't have a fight. Something happened regarding to a case you guys were working on and I meant to drop something off at his aunt's trailer and then I fell asleep," Charlotte explained.
"I see. And I can't believe you would go after the guy who did the hit and run."
"I know and believe me it was a stupid thing to do," Charlotte said as she was tying up her boots.
"Well, that and it's completely badass," Alex said. "Look, why don't you go home and get some rest. I'll tell Nick that you're on your way home. He's with Hank finishing up paperwork so he can ease up on the stress marks on his face."
Charlotte laughed a little. "Yeah and I'll text you later. My phone's screaming to be charged," she said as she opened the door.
After saying goodbye, both girls hung up. As Charlotte stepped out, she saw the clouds becoming darker and the rain started to fall.
She ran towards her truck and went inside. After starting up the engine, she pulled out of the lot and headed towards home.
By the time she got home, the rain started to downpour. She got out of her truck and bee lined for the house getting wet in the process. When she got to her door, she was shivering slightly as she was finding her keys since the door was locked.
"Nick? Hello?" she called out as she went in.
The house was still the same condition as she left it minus a coffee cup that she assumed it was Nick's that was sitting on the coffee table. She placed it in the sink, her shoes squeaking as she walked in her kitchen.
She left the room and checked the upstairs and then her office. She had no idea when Nick will be home or whatever and she knew going back to work was out of the question for a while at least. Maybe a long shower would help her.
Grabbing a long plastic bag and duct tape to help cover the cast, she went to grab towels when she heard the front door open and shut. Charlotte remained frozen in her spot, scared to even know who was in her house. She slowly walked out of the bathroom and down the stairs. She stopped midway when she saw who it was.
Nick was standing in the foyer, a small cut on his forehead, hair messed around and changed into a new set of clothes. When he looked up, he saw the woman standing midway on the stairs, wet clothes, cast still intact and a shocked, but hopeless look on her face.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry," Charlotte said, walking down the stairs.
He didn't say anything as he walked over towards her and by the time she got to the last step, he engulfed her in his arms, afraid if he would let go she would disappeared.
"You're alright. You're okay," he said. He then kissed her on the lips, which she returned eagerly.
Nick pulled away slightly but still kept Charlotte in his arms. "I was so worried," he said. "You're not hurt are you?"
"No I'm fine, I…"
"Where were you? I didn't know what to think when I heard what you did. What were you thinking?" Nick asked.
Charlotte could only get out of Nick's arms and walked over towards the couch and sat down.
"I-I wanted to help. I didn't want to be useless. I couldn't just sit by and do nothing," she replied.
"Do you know how dangerous that was? What if something worse happened to you?"
Something inside of her snapped. She stared long at Nick before narrowing her eyes a bit.
"What about if something happened to you?" she asked.
"That's-"
"No. Do not go there. I know what you do is dangerous but I know that being a Grimm is even more. I do know that you're trying to stop the worse but what if god forbid something happened to you and I get that knock on the door no one wants to get or that phone call for that matter? Nick I don't want you to stop doing what you do. I want to help more. I love you too much for you for something to happen," Charlotte said.
She gasped softly as she realized what she said.
"Char," Nick said, coming closer to her. He cupped her face as he continued to look at her. "I love you too. I'd never stopped since the night we met."
"Wow," she said, laughing lightly. "Only us I guess."
"Yeah," he said, relaxing a bit. "I love you so much."
"I love you too. But I do need to shower though," she said.
"Sure," Nick said.
Charlotte let go of him and started to head upstairs when Nick said something.
"Char, how come you didn't tell me about the man in your hospital room?" he asked.
She turned towards him. "Honestly, I pushed it away because yes it was strange but at the same time I really didn't think anything of it," she replied.
"Okay," he said as she went upstairs.
Twenty minutes later, Charlotte was showered and dressed in a dark green long sleeved shirt and black pajama pants. She went downstairs only to see Nick still in the living room going through something in one of the books.
"Searching something?" she asked.
"No just looking," he replied.
"How did the whole catching the bad guy went?" she asked. "I mean if you don't want to talk about it considering how I was involved…"
"Well, he was found unconscious and came too when we were arresting him. During the interrogation he confessed to causing your car accident and the robberies. He said he did it out of grief and he wanted revenge against us," Nick said.
"Maybe if he didn't have to act out so much he could've handled his grief differently," she pointed out.
"Probably. And also, when did you learn how to work the crossbow?"
Charlotte chuckled lightly as she leaned into Nick. "Honestly I don't. I just really have good aim," she replied. "Which by the way you need to stock up on the arrows."
"Hey not my fault you decided to bring a weapon with less arrows, which by the way," Nick said, pulling her closer to his body. "I find that a little hot."
"Flattery won't get you anywhere Burkhardt," Charlotte said, raising an eyebrow.
"We'll have to see about that," Nick said with a mischievous grin as she laughed.
"What is it?" Charlotte asked.
"I haven't heard you laugh in a while," he said.
"Yeah well, with everything happening; I know in the end I'll be okay," she said.
"I hope so," he said as he wrapped her up in his arms.
Charlotte knew deep down things would be okay. It wouldn't be perfect but she knew that it'll be okay.
A/n: Whew okay done. I know it seems a lot but hey things happened.
It'll be a while before I update again. I want to plan out what will happen in this story I have so many ideas, plus I do want to work on my other stories and be caught up with them before I come back here. I will be writing out the next chapter in the meantime.
Leave me some love. I thank you guys once again for your patience and support. They mean so much and I appreciate it a lot.
Until next time,
Spike
