Slow Way Home
Chapter 29
[Day 36 of 45]
The Admirals sat in session, looking at each other.
"They have earned their place in Starfleet. All the cadets who took part in this mission will be given the automatic title of lieutenant," one of the Admirals stated. Her voice was strong as she looked at them.
"What about these others – Montgomery Scott, Pavel Chekov, Jamie Kirk, Nyota Uhura, Leonard McCoy, and Hikaru Sulu. These cadets played the biggest parts in saving the earth," another Admiral said. They did not list Spock who was not a Cadet. They all knew that without these students Earth would never have been saved, and humans too would have become an endangered species.
They looked at each other knowing they had to come up with a decision. Fast. Especially since the press had already gotten wind of what had happened and had labeled them and Spock the saviors of the earth.
Jim Kirk was the Golden Girl of Starfleet in the minds of the people.
Slow Way Home
George Sarek Kirk and Joanna McCoy were sitting in his mother's apartment. He'd been tired of all the people spying on them because of the great achievements of his mother and father. People who expected so much of them because of who their parents were.
He had always known his mother felt that way but had never understood it. But now he did.
It had gotten to the point he'd finally figured out how to shut his telepathy down just so he didn't have to hear the expectations. He needed some peace and quiet.
George heard music and realized Joanna was humming along with it.
"You sound pretty," he said before censoring himself. However, the smile that came to her face made his lapse worth it.
"Thank you," she said before kissing his cheek. He felt his cheeks and the tips of his ears flush with embarrassment. Just a second later the door opened and in walked Providence and Amanda.
"Teachers are looking for you two runaways," Amanda said as she entered the room. The pair stood up. Meanwhile in his head he heard his sisters sing song voice going 'Joanna and Jory, sitting in a tree. K.I.s.s.I.N.G.'
'Be quiet,' he telepathically told his sister who just laughed.
Slow Way Home
Providence Ellen was sitting in the main children's room and she watched Tommy, her crush, as he hung out with his friends. She was six and he was twelve. There was no way he would like her. She was so much younger than him.
She shook her head when she glanced out the window. There she saw some of the survivors of Vulcan landing.
Shuttles had been bringing survivors for several days. Shaking her head she turned to look at Tommy. She liked him… but it didn't feel right.
