Chapter 9

Summary: "Sorry didn't get the memo maybe next time when a bitch invites me to a high class party I'll remember to bring my stilettos." Kagome said glaring at Kagura before turning to leave. She didn't even spare her sister a glance as she left, leaving the entire house silent.

Saturday June 14th, 2014

Kagome exits the bathroom to see Sesshoumaru standing by his window looking at the back yard. With all the excitement this morning she didn't get the chance to actually get a good look at him, he stands with his back to her still shirtless but at least he put pants on. His long silver hair is brushed out from all the knots. Seeing how relax and calm he is being is quite surprising from all the cold and distant exterior. "Your staring." His cold voice states bringing Kagome out of her daze.

"We have a problem." She counters walking over to grab her discarded boots. Kagome pulls her boots on, she stands to walk over to the door seeing as Sesshoumaru doesn't seem to concern. "Which is what? Our night together?" he asks turning to see her back to him with her hand on the door.

Kagome didn't know what to say. She knows that what they did was out of a drunk induce state makes a very embarrassing and regretful story. "Can we pretend it never happened?" she asks looking over her shoulder to stare at the demon. Sesshoumaru raises a brow at her words, didn't she not seeing what is left on her shoulder? "Stupid miko." He says glaring at her. Kagome spins around to shoot a glare at him "Listen here, asshole, I might have been heavily intoxicate but I clearly remember you were more than willing to engage in those activities!" she shouts angry that he would be so rude. Of course, he's just like the rest of the scumbag playboy's.

Sesshoumaru narrows his eyes at the angry miko. Kagome turn back around yanked open the door and walks out leaving an annoyed daiyokia behind. Sesshomaru should have mention that he marked her but he knows that the mark will fade within twenty-four hours so it shouldn't cause any problem. Sesshoumaru hears his phone ringing giving a slight sigh before grabbing it from the floor where it fell out of his jeans. He grabs the phone seeing Kagura flashing across his screen. "What is it?" his icy voice answers the phone. "Is that anyway to treat your girlfriend?" she scoff over the phone. "You and I have different definition of girlfriend." He told her pulling on a shirt. "Whatever, can you come get Yura and me from the airport?" she asks highly irritated with the dog demon. Sesshoumaru knew that tonight is going to be hell especially with the temporary mating mark on Kagome's shoulder.

Saturday June 14th, 2014

Kagome arrived at her mother's house fifteen after nine, her mother is sitting at the breakfast bar tapping her coffee mug in irritation. She lifts the mug to her red lips thinking about Kagome. "You finally show up." Kagome stood in the doorway of the kitchen watching her mother knowing she's going to get an ear full. Miss Higurashi puts her mug down to turn and face her daughter. Kagome never said a word to her mother knowing that would only fuel the fire. "Are you going to explain to me where you were?" she asks once more trying to invoke Kagome. She rolls her eyes at her mother walking over to the fridge to get a water out of it.

"I'm waiting, Kagome." Hearing heels hit the tilt floor and the door to the fridge slamming shut. Kagome stands straight to look at her mother who is now fuming mad. "I went to the Taisho party last night, got drunk, and had sex." Are you happy yet?" Kagome says glaring at her mother.

Miss Higurashi stares at her daughter mouth agape. Kagome reopens the fridge to get her water before walking out of the kitchen and up the stairs. It wasn't like Kagome to go out and tell her parents things like that but her mother was wearing on her nerves at the moment and she supporting a hangover.

Once Kagome reached her room, she walks in leaving the door open to fall on her bed.

Kagome grabs her phone from under her pillow to see Sango has texted her about tonight's party details. That's when she realized that she slept most of the midmorning and afternoon away. Quickly Kagome sends a text to meet up at Sango's house to get ready for the party knowing things will either go awesome or end terribly. The complication of girl drama. Kagome groans about her drunken mistake. Kagome's phone went off again making her laugh rolling out of bed reading the text as she went about her room blindly grabbing clothes stuffing in a bag before heading out her room. Kagome tiptoes down the stairs trying to avoid running into her mother.

"Is there a reason why you're sneaking around the house?" Kikyou asks with slight amusement. Kagome freezes at being caught in the act, slowly she turns to see her sister trying to look indifferent at Kagome's attempt to leave the house. "Well mom caught me walking in the door this morning and now I'm avoiding her so I can meet up with Sango." Kagome says adjusting the strap of her bag. Kikyou rose a brow at her sister. She was curious as well to see where Kagome disappear to but she figured she was with Sango but she was somewhere else. "So where were you?" Kikyou asks her.

Kagome blushes a little turning around "Sesshoumaru." She says lowly. "I can't hear you." "Sesshoumaru." She said a little louder hoping their mother isn't around. Kikyou's eyes went wide, she thought Kagome was better than that or at least wont mess with Sesshoumaru. Tonight is not going to end well for anyone if Kagura finds out.

Sango's house

Sango sits at her vanity waiting for Kagome to waltz thru her bedroom door yet she wishes to Kami that he friend decides to back out of the party. She remembers Kikyou coming up to her earlier in the day asking Sango if she could try and change Kagome's mind about going. Kikyou seem nervous and slightly guilty which is odd for the usually stoic woman. Something is going on and Sango has a feeling that it will all revile within the next hour and a half.

"Sango!" Kagome chirps opening the door to see her best friend staring off into space. "Hello? Earth to space cadet Sango." She says waving her hand in front of the demon slayer. Sango blinks a few times and spots Kagome's hand waving in front of her. "Kagome, where did you arrive?" she asks catching the moving hand. "A few seconds ago, you were pretty spaced out there." Kagome says as Sango lets go of her hand.

Sango moves from the vanity to look at her friend. She knew something happened last night from the text messages and from the mark…"Oh my! Kagome look at your shoulder!" Sango exclaims pushing her friend down in the chair and pulling her shirt to the side. An angry red mark stares back at Kagome. Her fingers trace the mark not understanding how it got there. "Do you know what that means?!" Sango asks looking frazzled by it. "I had wild sex?" Kagome jokes not fully understanding the concern look in Sango's eyes. "You didn't sleep with him did you?" Sango asks a more concern question. Kagome looks away with a small blush "Yes." She mutters under her breath.

"He courted you last night. It's a temporary mating mark." Sango explains to her confused friend. Kagome's eyes went wide with shock she can't believe that he actually would be that reckless and mark her even if it's temporary. Shaking her head Kagome stares at Sango thru the mirrors of the vanity with a serious look "Who cares? If Kagura says something, I'll deal with her then. She isn't going to win this." Kagome states getting up to get her clothes that she's going to wear to the party.

Kagome puts on a white tank top with a mesh black off the shoulder over shirt that stops at her midsection along with her short shorts that are cutoff jeans along with her old dusty brown boots. Her hair is down and wavy giving her an all-natural look and showing off her country roots. Sango went for a simple tight black skinny jeans along with a pink shirt with black ankle boots. Her hair is pulled into a high ponytail and applies light pink eye shadow. Both girls smile at each other "Tonight is probably going to go down in flames." Sango states. "I'll be roasting marshmallows then!" Kagome pumps her fist in the air laughing.

Sango thought it'd be better to take a cab to Kagura's house knowing that they could catch a ride back with Miroku if they need too. The drive to Kagura's was filled with talks of what they plan on doing for the rest of the summer. Kagome loves being here in California but knows by the time August rolls around she'll have to leave.

"Here we are." Sango says. Kagome is surprise to see the house no mansion. One thing she notice that it isn't as big as the Taisho's house but it's a decent size compare to their's.

Sango pays the taxi cab turning to see Kagome looking a bit nervous. "We can always leave?" she offers. "No." she says walking up the stairs amongst everyone else who is entering the house. Kagome understands that she's on Kagura's turf now but that doesn't change the game. Tonight she will find out why Kagura was so eager to invite them to the party. A waiter passes buy and Kagome grabs two flutes of champagne from it, handing one to Sango who takes it with a smile.

"Kagome! Sango!" both girls turn to see Rin and Ayame making their way over to them. A smile appears on Kagome's face as she greets the other two girls but silently wondering where Kikyou is. "Let's dance!" Ayame says pulling Kagome while Rin pulls Sango. They all laugh, setting the drinks down before dancing among everyone. Kagome feels that Kagura isn't aware of her presences yet and she hopes she never becomes aware of her.

The girls keep dancing and having fun. Kagome hasn't seen Kikyou yet but has a feeling she'll show up soon along with her boyfriend and his brother. Kagome tells the girls she's going to grab a drink and they nod in response. She wonders over to the drink table grabbing one of the many solo cups. She turns around with her drink to her lips to see Kagura standing there with her hands on her hips glaring.

Everyone can feel the energies start to rise. Kikyou enters with Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru to find that Kagura has found her sister. Kikyou pushes through the coward to make her way over to her sister. People start to whisper "Whose that chick rocking those kicks?" one asks "She must be from out of town." Another says. "She can't be from L.A." another states. Kagome can hear all their judgmental whispers as she stands there with her drink.

"Well, well, look what the cat drugged in." Kagura snaps glaring at Kagome. Kagome tosses her drink back putting the solo cup back on the table to give Kagura her full individual attention. "What do I own the pleasure of running into the hostess of the party?" she asks coolly. Kagura continues to glares hatefully at her. "What do I own the pleasure of some slutty hilly billy to sleep with my boyfriend!?" she screams.

The room went silent, no one said a word. The entire party goers are not staring at the two waiting for a cat fight to happen.

"Why in the hell would a youkia such as him sleep with the likes of you?" Kagura asks stocking up to her. "Why don't you ask him?" Kagome asks raising a brow at her. Kagura sneered at her lounging towards her. Kagome steps out of the way letting Kagura come within inches of crashing the drinking table. "You bitch!" Kagura growls swinging her hand at Kagome who dodges it once more. "Why don't we just take this outside?" Kagome suggest not really caring.

Kagura rushes toward Kagome once more, Kagome use her reiki to counter her with a punch in the jaw making her hiss in pain. Kagome glares at the demoness that's trying to get her riled up.

"You brought nothing but shame when you decided to be a country bumpkin with that pathetic dad of yours!" Kagura says smirking. "Even your sister didn't want you here. Everyone tried to get you to not attend, I wonder why?" Kagura asks. Kagome looks across the room to Kikyou. Her sister looks away in shame of what Kagura is saying. Kagome straightens up glaring back at Kagura.

"You don't belong here! Look at you, you were boots to a high class party and yet you expect to be treated as if you are one of us?" Kagura throws her head back laughing. Kagome looks around the room, Sango is pleading her to back down making Kagome hate Kagura that much more. "Sorry didn't get the memo maybe next time when a bitch invites me to a high class party I'll remember to bring my stilettos." Kagome said glaring at Kagura before turning to leave. She didn't even spare her sister a glance as she left, leaving the entire house silent.

"Kagome!"

Kagome reaches the door and walks down the stairs. "Kagome! Please wait!" Kikyou's voice stops her cold in her tracks at the bottom of the stairs. "Please Kagome, I said that back when you first arrived here." Kikyou says trying to justify her actions. Kagome looks over her shoulder giving her sister a hateful glare "She's right. What the hell am I doing at a party like this? Good-bye Kikyou, I'll catch you later." Kagome says walking off into the night.

Kikyou stoops down with tears running down her face. She just hurt the one person she never thought she would care about. Now that she had her sister she also lost her. Kikyou looks up towards the midnight sky Please be careful.

Kagome took a cab to the beach to clear her head. She knew what happen with Sesshoumaru would come back and bite her it the butt she also didn't want to fight a pointless battle knowing that Kagura felt more satisfied by her words. Kagome knew she left her speechless about what she said. "So this is where you wander to?" his icy voice cuts through her. Kagome looks behind her to see the silver hair demon standing behind her.

Sesshoumaru stood there in dark jeans with a shirt tee shirt looking so casual. Kagome wants to laugh at how her thoughts but she decides against it. Standing here facing him feels like a dream, the blow blows gently ruffling her hair, "Its calming here." She spoke. Sesshoumaru walks towards her, something about her is so addicting that he can't keep away from her. Once standing in front other one and other, everything seems to fade away "Why do I feel like I need to be near you?" Sesshoumaru asks raising his hand to cup Kagome's cheek. She looks at him with awe, every nerve in her body is set a flame from his touch.

"You can't feel much for me. We've only known each other for two weeks." Kagome whispers feeling her control slipping. "Then why can I not walk away from you, Kagome?" when he spoke her name she shiver in delight. Sesshoumaru leans down to kiss her but she met him half way. Her mind screams that this is wrong but her heart knows that it's right. Kagome wraps her arms around his shoulders as he wraps his arms around her waist drawing her closer.

There's a strange thing about being mates, you can't choose who you'll mate. It could be the very person you hate or you think you hate. That very person can be the one who you love with all of your heart and will die protecting.

DarknessQueen12: Now you all will probably be a bit displeased but I figured that Kagome is the better person and I didnt want her to fight with Kagura. Its not her nature. But I hope you all enjoy then ending to this story and there will be an epilogue which will shock a lot of you!
