Chapter Sixteen: Tears and Goodbyes
1
It had been a few days since Blair's death; the gem was restored and Ninjago was back into its normal state. The Bounty was flying through the sky and the ninja, Nya, Lydia, and Sensei Wu were readying themselves for Blair's funeral. Nya had offered to let Lydia stay in her room but she refused; Lydia wanted to be alone for a little while. Solitude is what she wanted and solitude is what she got. The ninja had begun to be concerned for her, she barely ate and came out of her room even less.
Knock. Knock. Someone was knocking at Lydia's door. "We will be landing in eighteen minutes." It was Zane. He waited at the door to get a response, which he did not, until he walked away.
Lydia sighed. 'Eighteen minutes,' she thought. With her teeth already brushed and her hair already done, all that was left to do was get dressed and put her small amount of makeup on. Lydia had her midnight black hair in a low side bun with a few curled strands of hair in front. Laid out to wear she had a dark purple dress. The material was soft and flowey; it was sleeveless with a v-neck that wasn't too low and the dress came just above her knees. The top of the dress ended at her waist and had a belt of the same material connected to it with a little bow off to the side.
Lydia slipped on the dress and went to the mirror in the bathroom. She wore very minimal makeup-just mascara and red lipstick. Not being the master of darkness any more, her skin was no longer as pale; Lydia hadn't even been in the sun and she was already tanner. One terrible thing about being a twin was that it pained Lydia to look at her eyes. When everyone looked at her eyes, they noticed and saw how beautiful and rare their purple colour was. When Lydia looked at her eyes, she saw Blair, her sister. Blair had the same eyes that would still be sparkling in the sun if it hadn't been for her.
Feeling the Bounty land, Lydia went out of the bathroom, slipped on her black flats, went out her door, and onto the deck. Normally, if the sun has been this bright, she would have had to worn sunglasses or something but now it didn't bother her at all. Lydia was greeted on the deck by the ninja, Nya, and Wu. The ninja wire their ninja gi, Wu wore his normal clothes, and Nya wore what she wore on her and Jay's date but in a darker colour.
There was another thing everyone on the deck wore: sadness. It was written on their face, it was hidden in their eyes, and it was draped across their bodies as they moved slower and walked with their heads tilted down.
The Bounty was parked right outside Ninjago City; walking distance from where the funeral was to be held. It wasn't a long walk but it was a sad and dreary one. The once exciting and busy streets of Ninjago seemed a blur to Lydia. Everyone was sad but she was the worst of all.
Jay tried to cheer her up. "At least it's a nice day," he said with a very small chuckle until he realized Lydia took no notice of him. In fact, she did hear him and mentally agreed with him. The day was a beautiful one. The sun was high in the sky, shining bright, there was not a cloud in sight, and even though there wasn't the slightest breeze, it wasn't humid and was the absolute perfect temperature. Although Lydia knew her sister was no longer with her, she was sure that Blair was in a much better place.
The location of the funeral was set up beautifully; it was at Blair's memorial instead of the graveyard. Her memorial was a large patch of flowers in the city's biggest park that were the most beautiful flowers you would ever see. They were big, yellow, and the petals open up from the middle. On a few of the flowers, the very tips of the petals had a slight hint of lavender to them. Altogether, the flowers were shaped in a lovely sun. Chairs were set up that looked into the flowers for the people who came to the funeral.
The ninja were surprised at just how many people showed up. Blair hadn't been part of their team for very long at all but, what they didn't know, was if they were busy with something, the twins would come and take care of the Serpentine, or skeleton, or whatever the problem was. The sisters too had affected many people's lives. Lydia, Sensei Wu, Nya, and the ninja took their seats in the front row and, shortly after, the service commenced.
Then it was time for Lloyd to give his speech for himself and his fellow ninja. "We haven't known Blair for too long but in the time we had together, we all got to know her and even considered her as our teammate, friend, and sister. Blair was always full of sunshine that she was ready to spread everywhere and never turned down a challenge. We are all very grateful and blessed to have known her."
Lloyd sat down and Lydia arose to make her speech. She froze for a few seconds when she saw the flowers shaped as a heart as a tear trickled its way down her cheek. Turning around, Lydia quickly wiped it away before speaking. "It's an honour to be speaking for such a remarkable person because it really should not have been her who died. I am the one who should have died and her speaking today but she knew that couldn't be. Blair did the ultimate sacrifice in giving up her life for mine; she knew I needed a second chance to turn my life around and that's what she gave me. The prophecy said that 'light shall fade' but I think it was wrong. Light will never be able to fade; it will always be present, even if darkness seems to be overpowering. They say that you don't know what you have until it's gone and I think that is very true. These past few days I have fully realized what all Blair meant to me. Not only was she my twin sister, she was my best friend, my comforter, and I loved her dearly. She was willing to do for me what I was never willing to do for her-giving up her life. Even though she may not have listened all the time, Blair was the best sister I could have ever asked for and I thank the Lord for her."
When Lydia had finished, many in the crowd were wiping their tears away but ultimately dispersed to get on with their day. Lydia never sat back down; she stood standing and looking at the fliers in Blair's honour. The ninja came up to her to look at the flowers too. It was funny how a simple thing like flowers could bring so many people comfort.
Sensei Wu asked, "Lydia, what are you going to do now? There is always room for you on the team."
Lydia thought about this for a moment. Beside her stood the only people she really cared for and wanted to be near, yet joining the ninja didn't not feel like the right thing that was planned for her just yet. "For now, I think I need to start fresh."
"If you need anything, you know how to find us," the ancient master said as he looked Lydia in the eyes. The ninja and Nya then gave Lydia a big group hug, said their goodbyes, and began to walk away. Lloyd gave her one last hug goodbye and gently kissed her forehead. "Good luck," he quietly said to her before running off to join the others. Lydia blushed a bit and waved them goodbye.
She turned around to see someone was still sitting in his chair from the funeral. It was a man who was sitting in the very back row. Lydia thought he looked vaguely familiar and squinted her eyes to see him better. The man appeared to be in his late forties and had brown hair. She didn't not need to get closer to see him better. Because of her new powers of light, she could see longer distances than the normal person. Lydia noticed one thing about the man that made her realize who it was. This man had one blue eye and one green eye and only one man in Ninjago could have eyes like that.
Lydia began to walk towards him and he must have recognized her too because he stood up in his hair and looked straight at her with his double coloured eyes. As she got closer, her idea was confirmed. Same nose, same hair, same mouth, same chin, and same everything as she remembered. Lydia was now running towards him with arms stretched out wide and, right as she was about to reach him, she yelled out his name. "Dad!" They embraced each other in a hug and held onto each other tightly.
"Oh, Lydia. Can it really be you, my little girl?"
"Yes, yes it's me."
They let go of each other and Lydia's dad said, "I am so sorry for leaving you. I really never wanted to leave you but your mother..."
"Daddy, it's okay. I forgive you."
"C'mon, let's go home."
The father and daughter wrapped their arms around each other and walked off into the city, ready to start their lives fresh together.

The Bounty was lifting off from the ground and everyone was on the bridge.
"Do you think she will be alright?" Lloyd asked his Uncle.
"I am certain she will be fine," the old man replied. Wu was certain because he recognized and saw Lydia's dad waiting for her.
"What if we need her in the future?" Zane asked.
"If we ever need Lydia's help, she will be there and ready to help us. The light in her will not soon fade."
The sun was setting as the Bounty flew away, leaving the city farther and farther behind until a new day.
***If you want me to do a sequel, you must say so. I do have a rough plan for one so seriously, if anyone wants one, you must say so. Even just a simple yes or no will suffice.***
Sorry that it's kinda sort but it was really just a conclusion. You all get an early update and have ZaneloverFan88 and Hannahchickenbutt15 to thank. I also thank them for their reviews.
And it looks like that's it, sad to say. There's a good chance I won't start anything big this summer but I will most likely do a few shorter stories so make sure to be ready for those. I want to thank everyone who has ever reviewed or followed because I would not have finished if it weren't for you guys. Questions? Comments? Concerns? Don't be afraid to click that little review button. God bless you all!
