Slow Way Home
Chapter 39
[Epilogue]
[Day 46 of 45]
Spock was next to his wife anxious as they sat in the shuttle. Ms. Roe and Mr. Chekov were seated in front of them. Dr. McCoy would be beamed down along with medical patients Mrs. Marks and Captain Pike.
Lady Amanda Grayson and Ambassador Sarek were behind them as was the matriarch of his family who was trying to find those responsible for keeping him and his wife separated and from knowing his now four-year-old children.
'You'll be fine' Jim's voice whispered through their bond as she gripped his hand gently, giving it a squeeze. He sent her understanding and thanks. With that they landed.
"Let's get this show on the road," she said, eyes looking out. He saw reporters and camera crews for the news that would likely be on every Padd on the globe. Probably more on other planets. He sensed her nervousness as she stood up.
She straightened her shirt out, and they walked off, following behind the others. The moment they were seen the cameras started moving toward them. But he saw his wife walk forward as a familiar voice yelled 'Mommy, Daddy!'
Walking hurriedly forward he let his wife move, though he watched for trouble as a familiar figure sprinted through the crowd. His wife knelt and their daughter, a girl he recognized now that he was close and in person, ran straight into her arms.
A memory of a dream involving a girl playing on a beach filled his mind and he realized it had been real. He walked forward and his son walked through the crowd, looking a lot like him. He seemed unemotional but for the hurried steps. Even the arms behind his back were very reminiscent of him. He walked toward them.
"Mother," George said while looking at his mother.
Jim ignored his discomfort before pulling him forward into a hug. If it had been Spock as a child he would have pulled away because of decorum. But George tensed then wrapped his arms around her neck. Cameras caught the scene as Mandy moved to Spock and raised her hands. Acting as he thought he should he reached down and picked her up.
"Hi, Daddy," Mandy said, hugging him close and Spock felt a warmth that he never knew. This was his daughter. He felt something welcome him and realized it was his daughter talking to him empathically. His wife stood up as he heard another voice yell 'Ms. Gaila' as a brunette ran towards Ms. Roe while he saw a little Orion girl follow them looking for somebody.
Jim walked forward and he followed, Ms. Roe and the girl that he knew was Joanna now that he saw her followed, and they took the girl named Providence. They were on earth. And he had his family.
