Hey, you thought I was dead, didn't you? Gosh, it's been forever! Hi! So, I'm going to elaborate on the "date" this chapter.
Envy pushed open the door to the small, most likely family run restaurant and looked around for Ed. He spotted the blonde in a booth towards the back of the restaurant. He blushed a little, desperately trying to hide his nervousness. He slide into the booth across from Ed and lightly kicked the spaced out Edward under the table. Ed looked up from his phone and smiled at Envy.
"Hey."
"'Sup, pip-squeak."
"Don't. call me. that."
"Fine, chibi-chan."
"Don't just switch languages on me!"
Envy giggled as Ed fumed, and took a moment to just look at his friend. Envy knew he had feelings for Ed, of that he was very aware. However, Ed seemed to be straight as a ruler and oblivious to Envy's feelings. Besides, Envy thought, neither of us should date until we have our memories back. Ed, having calmed down enough from his short-rant, passed Envy a menu.
"The Kung-pao is delicious."
After ordering, Ed insisted on comparing schedules for school. They had four out of eight classes together, which both were very pleased with. They had honors english, Ap World History, PE and visual arts. Ed had placed higher in math and science, and Envy was taking French instead of Latin. And where as Envy had chosen to take a free period, Ed was taking an extra Science class.
When the food arrived, Envy was arguing with Ed about he fact taking chemistry and physics at the same time was crazy. The two boys reached a pause in their argument over food, and for awhile sat in silence, focusing more on their food. Envy kept sneaking glances at Ed, praying that his stared was unnoticeable. It was noticeable, however, and Edward felt his cheeks grow hot under Envy's intent gaze.
Envy put his chopsticks down with a contented sigh, happy to have eaten something not cooked by Lust (she was an awful cook). Ed, noticed Envy was done with his meal and choose this moment to ask his pressing question.
"So... Where did your name come from? I mean, it's a little strange to be a family name..."
Ed paused awkwardly, feeling Envy stiffen.
"Sorry, I don;t mean to pry..."
"No, it's okay. My name... Well, my mom had that weird quirk that a lot of rich trophy wives have. She wanted seven kids and wanted to name them after the seven deadly sins."
"Really? And she did? Have seven kids, I mean."
"Yeah. The last two- Pride and Gluttony- were adopted."
"Huh. So.. Who's the oldest?"
"It goes Wrath, Greed, Lust, Me, Sloth, Gluttony, Pride."
"Your the middle child!"
"Yep. What about you? Your the oldest, right?"
"Yeah. It's just me and Al. We live with our childhood friend Winry and her Grandma. They're like family to us since... well, Dad's out of the picture and Mom's dead."
Envy nodded. Hating the look of sadness on Ed's face, he quickly changed the sub subject.
"So... What are your hobbies? I mean, I know your a science geek..."
The conversation continued with jokes about Ed's height ("tiny little Einstein") and about Envy's hair ("walking houseplant"). Both Ed and Envy were having to much fun in the other's company to take offense, and the evening progressed wonderfully. Envy commented on the time, so the two split the check (Ed had insisted on paying but Envy refused), and prepared to split ways.
Envy new he had his chance. "Well, bye Envy. See you tomorrow!" Ed said. Envy smiled, then leaned forward and pecked Ed's cheek, "Farewell, Edward."
Ed blushed as he watched Envy saunter away.
Envy collapsed onto his bed when he got back to the apartment. Lust was not home, but she had left a note saying she had some sort of business function she had to attend. He sighed and shook his head to clear it. He couldn't believe he'd kissed Ed on the cheek. I mean, sure Envy was obsessed with the shrimp, but he didn't want to endanger the friendship they had. However, Envy hadn't missed Ed's reaction to the kiss. Could he really be... into me? Envy slipped on his skull candy headphones and turned up the volume.
I'm the king of short chapters, I know. Sorry. But hey, I'll update soon if you review (wink wink) I feel like Envy's character was more subdued this chapter, oh well.
