Five Years Later

Part 33

When they'd all gotten together for dinner that evening, Sam was certainly surprised to see with his own eyes how much Blaine had changed. There was a sense of calm to him that the girls had told him about, but he couldn't believe how at ease Blaine seemed to be now. Everything the girls had told him was true in a way that he thought he'd never see again. Once they were all seated everything he saw was only reinforced by the sound of Blaine's voice. While he'd been good about hiding everything that had happened between him and Kurt, hearing him now provided a difference Sam didn't expect. It showed that one of the reasons he probably didn't notice before is that it had been gradual, but now hearing Blaine you could truly tell how much he'd changed back then.

Throughout the course of dinner, Sam was surprised to hear how thing were progressing for Blaine and his band as it was clear they were hitting their stride, prepared to take the next step. When Blaine mentioned they were heading into the studio to record all three of them were in shock as it was certainly quite the step to be taking. Once they took it all in, they looked at Sebastian who was smiling as he sipped his drink. "We should've known you'd already told him." Santana said as she looked between Blaine and Sebastian. "I take it he was more excited when he told you?"

"He was." Sebastian replied calmly. "I'd say he was on cloud nine for quite a while after they were told." He then leaned over and gave Blaine a kiss. "This is only the beginning guys, as I have a feeling we're in for quite the ride with our boy. We'll all be able to say, we knew him when." Blaine proceeded to look over at him and the look on Sebastian's face showed just how proud he was of Blaine and what was happening. "Now, does anyone else know why you're in town Sam?"

"I actually called and told Tina I was coming out and she's beyond jealous that I'm going to get to see Blaine perform. I hope you don't mind Blaine, but I gave her your schedule as she'd really like to be able to catch a performance."

"Not at all, but I should probably give you the updated one as more performances have been added. Does anyone else know?" When their expressions all changed, Sebastian slid his arm around the back of Blaine's chair as his posture changed. "Let me guess, he showed up at your place again?"

"He did." Rachel replied rather solemnly. "Yet, he only assumed why Sam was in town as I guess he's not allowed to just come and visit. I can tell you, he wasn't too happy to see him."

"That's because Sam was the only one to actually pick sides in that mess." Santana said as she looked at Blaine. "The longer it went on, I really should've as the crap he spewed about you was wrong Blaine, and so, I'm sorry."

"It's alright, I never expected people to pick sides, honestly. The fact that essentially everyone stayed neutral shocked me. Now, if you don't mind can we not talk about him as it dampers the mood."

"Of course." Sam said. "I'd much rather talk about the two of you."

"What would you like to know?" Blaine asked as he set his hand on Sebastian's thigh before glancing at him.

"It's not really what I'd like to know, I just thought it was a better topic. I mean, from what I can see, everything I've been told is true in that you two are really happy together."

"We are." Blaine replied.

"Sebastian?"

"B's right, we are. I can honestly say I've never been happier."

"I'm glad as you both deserve it." Sam told them. By the time dinner ended, Sam was completely caught up on everything that had been going on with Blaine, as well as Sebastian. If anyone had ever told him back in high school this would've been happening he wouldn't have believed it. Yet now, seeing the two of them together, he couldn't believe he was so blind to things back then as it was pretty clear they cared for one another even back then. During the trip back to the loft, Sam looked between Rachel and Santana. "I didn't want to ask them as I didn't want to push, but considering how much time they spend together, do you know if they're considering moving in together?"

"From what Sebastian has told me, they've discussed it." Santana said. "But nothing would happen till Blaine's done with school as it just makes more sense right now for him to stay where he is instead of constantly commuting back and forth."

"So, they'd move into Sebastian's place?"

"Yes." Rachel replied. "His place is huge and well, it's gorgeous so it would make sense. Not to mention, it's not a rental, his parents bought it when he decided to go to school at Columbia."

"Considering how you reacted when they first got together, you don't seem to be worried about it." Sam told her.

"I'm not. You saw the two of them together and well, I don't think Blaine ever looked that comfortable even when his relationship with Kurt was going well. They really are perfectly suited for one another no matter how different they might seem." Sam then looked at Santana who was smiling.

"I take it you agree."

"I do. They're very much alike while different at the same time and those differences balance them. And there is no doubt there is a respect between the two of them that was never present in Blaine's marriage to Kurt."

"Interesting."

The next few days seemed to fly-by and before they knew it, it was performance day once again. Considering how worried Blaine was about their meeting with Vincent, it went really well. From what they were told, once the tracks were recorded, they had quite a few people that were interesting in hearing them. And that it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility for them to have a recording contract within the next couple of months. Even though the news was a lot to processes, it was everything they'd all ever dreamed of. When Blaine shared the news with Sebastian, he swore he was as excited as he was if that was possible which was a great feeling. Sebastian joked that he needed to go and buy a case of champagne considering how much celebrating they'd been doing lately. Seeing Blaine's dreams come true this way, was more than he could've asked for. And knowing what Blaine had been through made it all the sweeter.

Keeping this news to themselves was certainly hard the night they all got together, but this time Sebastian didn't push Blaine to share as he understood wanting to wait till it actually happened. Not to mention, the guys that Blaine had yet to see since everything were in town as well. At one point, Sebastian stood back and watched as the rest of the guys essentially surrounded Blaine.

The morning of the performance, the guys all wanted to get together, but Sebastian reminded them that Blaine had quite the night ahead of him so they needed to hold off a bit as Blaine needed his rest. A few were upset, but realized Sebastian was right and it wasn't that they weren't going to be seeing him; they just needed to give him some space. When Blaine sat up in bed that morning, he was surprised to see Sebastian come walking in with a tray of food for him. "You do realize I could've gotten up to eat, but thank you." Blaine told him as he set the tray across his lap. "I hope you're joining me."

"I am." Sebastian replied as he got back into bed beside him. "And so you know, I brought you breakfast in bed as I plan on keeping you here as long as possible today." When Blaine looked at him before taking a bite, Sebastian laughed. "Fear not Killer, I don't plan on tiring you out completely as I know you have a performance tonight. But you should know, all the guys want to see you beforehand. I told them you'd let them know later."

"That sounds good as spending most of the day in bed with you sounds perfect."

"So, you're not upset with me answering for you?"

"Nope." Blaine then gave him a peck on the cheek. "This is really good Bas, thank you."

"You're welcome.

While Blaine ate, it wasn't too surprising that his phone rang a few times, but at least they were calls from his band and not the guys. Even though they tended to dress a bit more relaxed, since it was New Years' Eve, they were all dressing up a bit more than usual that night. "You're sitting right up front like usual, right Bas?" Blaine asked after taking his last bite.

"I am, why do you ask?" Sebastian replied while getting up to move the tray so they could get comfortable.

"I was hoping Stephen was giving you you're usual table as I was hoping to be able to kiss my boyfriend right after I'm done singing Auld Lang Syne. And I really didn't want to have to go searching you out as we're still playing for a bit afterwards."

"I will be right there waiting Killer." Sebastian told him as he got back into bed. "Jeff and I were hoping you and Morgan were going to take time to kiss us even though you're performing."

"We're going to as I couldn't imagine not doing so." Blaine said as he curled up against him. "Kissing you is the perfect way to start off the New Year. And well, I plan on continuing the celebrating once we get home in a more intimate way."

"You'll get no objections from me as that's what I was hoping to do as well."

While the two of them spent a quiet morning in bed, the guys all met up for a late breakfast after being told by Sebastian to give Blaine some space. They were all just about there when Thad and Hunter came walking into the restaurant together. After they sat down, it wasn't long till their waitress returned to see if the two wanted coffee which they did. So once it was poured she gave them some time to figure out what they wanted. "While this might seem a bit strange to ask, but is there a reason why Sebastian is so protective over Blaine?" Trent asked as he looked towards the end of the table where Thad, Hunter, and Jeff were sitting. "I mean, I know Blaine's still adjusting but it just seemed from his call that there is more going on."

"There is." Wes replied calmly as Jeff, Thad, and Hunter all exchanged looks. "More went on during the divorce than Blaine has been comfortable sharing with everyone. And with his performance this evening, Sebastian is only making certain his only concern is the show. But tell me if we're wrong, but the more you're all around him, the more questions you have as his behavior is certainly a bit different than you're used to. That is except when he's on stage." Once Wes finished, he looked around and saw quite a few of the guys had similar looks on their faces as Trent did. "You guys have to know, it's not personal. Blaine's just been through a lot and there are some things we might never know."

"And it's not as though Sebastian is keeping him from you." Jeff added. "But, he knows Blaine better than the rest of us now, and knows when he needs "me" time. Yet, we all know how much everyone being here means to Blaine so he might not take the time he needs for himself. So, considering he has a performance tonight, some time to himself makes sense."

"Plus, Sebastian did say they'd be seeing us all later." Thad said. "They just won't be spending the entire day with us."

"Why do I feel we wouldn't be as out of the loop if we lived closer?" Beat asked and a few of the others agreed.

"You probably wouldn't." Hunter told them. "It's all about familiarity for Blaine right now. And while I clearly don't know him as well as the rest of you, even I can see he acts different depending on the circumstances around him. Just know this isn't personal as Wes said, Sebastian is only looking out for Blaine's well-being."

"Does he really need someone to do that?" David asked.

"It's like Jeff said, Blaine is so willing to give so much of himself that right now he does." Wes replied. "Blaine felt horrible for having pushed us all away, so he'd want to make up for it. Think, the other night we could all tell he was exhausted after a long day but he didn't want to call it a night till he felt he'd spent ample time with everyone."

"Guys, just accept for the time being, Sebastian is going to be keeping an eye on Blaine." Nick said since he was a bit more in the know than some of the others thanks to Jeff. "Clearly Blaine went through stuff and well, we should probably accept the fact we might never know everything that happened. We all have things in our lives that we only share with a select few. It's not that we don't trust and care about each other, just some things are better left private."

"Well said." Thad told him once he finished. "And if you guys think the rest of us know more, we really don't. We're just more aware of Blaine's behavior as we're around him more. I'd say the only one that probably knows everything, is Sebastian." Thad then looked at Wes who nodded as not even he knew the extent of the things Blaine went through while married to Kurt. "And if you think about it, so far Sebastian hasn't been wrong in regards to Blaine. We gave Blaine his space as he requested, and Blaine came to us once he was more comfortable. It's all going to be a matter of time. And until Blaine feels comfortable opening up more, we need to respect that Sebastian is only looking out for him as I know we all only want what's best for him." The resounding response in agreement was exactly what Thad had hoped to hear. He understood all too well the guys desire to spend more time with Blaine, but he as well as Jeff and Hunter knew Blaine also needed his space.

Even though Sebastian had teased Blaine about making the most of their morning in bed, he could only smile as he gazed upon Blaine who'd fallen asleep on his chest later that morning. Seeing him so at peace was a sight Sebastian was glad to be seeing more and more. While he would've loved for them to have continued what they'd been doing, he was content watching Blaine sleep for the time being as they'd certainly enjoyed themselves. As he ran his fingers through Blaine's curls, he wondered how Kurt could've done the things he'd done to Blaine according to what the investigator Hunter had hired found out.

For all the accusations Kurt had thrown at Blaine, he'd been the one that had been cheating. And everything made sense with the things Blaine had told him from when their marriage began falling apart. It was during the second year of marriage, when Kurt left NYADA and had gone back to work for Isabelle and going to fashion school. Shortly after Kurt had gone back to work, he had hooked up with one of the assistants for an associate editor. From what the photos showed, it started off slowly, but progressed rather quickly into a full-out affair. So in Sebastian's mind, the fact that things got worse seemed to coincide with the way the affair intensified. And while Blaine had made the mistake of cheating on Kurt in high school, it was a one-time deal versus the all-out affair Kurt had been having.

Part of him wondered if Kurt knew the pictures were out there considering some of them weren't necessarily innocent, but it wasn't as though they were pornographic. But they were certainly more intimate than any moment Sebastian could remember seeing between Blaine and Kurt. It wasn't as though the photos were from private moments either as others could be spotted in the background so he could only assume they were taken at parties the two had attended. The only rationale Sebastian could come up with is that Kurt felt that playing off of Blaine's guilt he could have both parts of his life. Maybe that's why he didn't see how bad things truly were between him and Blaine, yet from what Sebastian had been told of Blaine's behavior, how could he not notice the changes.

When Blaine began to stir, Sebastian wondered if he was about to wake or he was just dreaming. Yet once he felt Blaine's hold around him tighten, he waited a bit as it could've been either scenario. But once Blaine settled against him once more, Sebastian placed his other hand over the arm Blaine had around him. With Blaine as close as he was, Sebastian couldn't help the way his body was reacting especially since he could feel Blaine was getting aroused as well since his erection pressed against his thigh. If it wasn't for the fact Blaine had a performance that evening, Sebastian easily would've rolled them over and woken his boy.

Sebastian was trying to calm his own instincts when he heard Blaine begin to talk in his sleep, which wasn't something entirely new to him. It seemed that whenever Blaine was deep in sleep, it would happen and tended to involve whatever he was dreaming about. Given Blaine's current state, Sebastian could only hope that he was the cause of what had happened. Soon that thought was confirmed as Sebastian's name began to come from Blaine's lips more often as he pressed his body against Sebastian's more.

With his own heightened state, Sebastian began to say Blaine's name softly hoping he could bring him out of his dream and state of sleep. The last thing Sebastian wanted was for Blaine to get off against him when there were more enjoyable ways to deal with it. So when Blaine began to speak more, Sebastian carefully rolled them over hoping the change of position might wake him. But when it didn't, Sebastian leaned down to kiss him softly, hoping that would wake him. Once he felt Blaine kissing him back, Sebastian pulled back slowly and watched as Blaine's eyes fluttered open. "What's going on?" Blaine asked his voice groggy since he was waking yet he quickly took in each of their given states. "Bas."

"Relax B, you were having a rather intense dream and were talking in your sleep." When Blaine began to blush a bit, Sebastian braced himself up over him. "It's okay; I know it was about me."

"It was and it was incredible."

"One would hope considering the effect it had on you. And not to embarrass you, but there was a reason you're now on your back."

"Why?"

"You were rutting up against me in your sleep." Blaine began to bite on his lower lip once Sebastian spoke. "By chance were you making love to me in your dream B?"

"And if I was?"

"Why don't we make that a reality if it was? Otherwise I'm more than content ravishing you." All it took was one look into Blaine's eyes for Sebastian to know his first instinct had been correct. After a look was exchanged between the two, Sebastian felt them being rolled over so that Blaine was now above him and taking control.

By the time early afternoon rolled around, Santana was surprised to get a call from Thad wondering if she, Rachel, and Sam wanted to join them as they were all going skating. Not surprisingly, Rachel was a bit unsure but Thad assured her through Santana that they wouldn't be the only girls there as Hunter was bringing Kimberly with him, and Blaine's band was joining them as well. They all believed it was the perfect way to spend the afternoon as it would keep their heads clear. Once Santana ended the call, she looked over at Rachel who was heading towards her room. "By chance are you changing your clothes Miss Berry?" When Rachel didn't answer, Sam couldn't help but laugh as Santana was soon following behind and grabbing ahold of him along the way. "This is going to be a two person job so she doesn't look like some innocent school girl."

The instant they came through the mock doorway, they saw Rachel standing in front of her armoire looking completely lost. "You know, I think you look great as you are." Sam told her as he sat down on the edge of her bed. "And remember, we're going skating so you're going to be bundled up."

"That is unless she wears strategic layers and she can go without a coat as it's not that cold out." Santana said as she started to look through Rachel's armoire and soon began tossing clothes onto the bed. "Start with this." When Rachel just looked at her Santana moved her hands to her hips. "It's only Sam, but I bet if you ask him to cover his eyes, he will." In that moment, Sam did just so causing Rachel to laugh. "Come on; now get a move on as you know how those guys don't like to be kept waiting." Rachel nodded and pulled her shirt over her head before grabbing the one Santana had tossed on the bed. As she changed, Sam looked over at Santana.

"Blaine and Sebastian are coming, correct?"

"Yes, that was one of the first things Thad mentioned. They actually called the two of them first before proceeding with their plan. Once it was a go, Jeff called Morgan and it all evolved from there."

"Morgan is Jeff's girlfriend, correct?"

"Yes. Now, do you need a refresher course in all of the Warblers names from the other night?"

"No, I think I'm good." Sam said as he turned and watched as Rachel tugged on the sweater. "That looks good Rach, so what are you doing?"

"Our girl is trying to hide the minimal cleavage it's revealing." Santana said with a laugh before walking towards her. "Leave it as you'll stretch out the sweater. You're lucky I didn't go searching for that fetish get up you wore one day back at McKinley." Santana's words clearly caught Sam's attention. "She dressed like Britney Spears and all the guys were gawking at her."

"Really?" Sam asked as he looked at Rachel who'd stopped pulling on the sweater.

"Yes. Now can we get back to what I'm going to wear so we can get going?" Santana nodded before getting Rachel to change the pants she was wearing which didn't take much as she was wearing a pair of yoga pants. Once she had on a pair of dark wash jeans to go with the black sweater, Santana grabbed a scarf out of the closet before tossing her a pair of boots. "Are you sure?"

"Yes, as their both cute, yet practical considering the weather. Now give me a quick minute to change and we can get going." After Santana left, Rachel turned to look in the mirror as she messed with her hair.

"You look really good Rach." Sam said as he got up off of her bed. "It's not too much, but certainly enough to peak a guy's curiosity."

"So you don't think it's silly that I have a crush on one of Blaine's friends?"

"Not at all and from the time we spent with them the other night, he's a good guy. Hell, they all are. I still can't figure out Kurt's dislike for them."

"It's because they're a bunch of rich, trust fund boys." Santana said as she reappeared as she'd only changed her top. "And he believed they all felt they were better than him back when he was at Dalton."

"He does realize Blaine was one of them."

"He knows and well, let's just say, he wasn't too thrilled that Blaine didn't dip into his trust fund after they were married." Santana said as they all went to grab their coats. "Little did he care to remember that Blaine couldn't touch it till he was twenty-five and even then, he doesn't have complete access to it."

"He never mentioned anything about Blaine's trust fund to me." Rachel said as Sam opened the door. "What makes you so sure about what you're implying as you seem rather certain?"

"Things I overheard Kurt say when he didn't think anyone was around." When Rachel and Sam looked at her once they were at in the hall, she didn't even flinch, just turned to lock the door. Throughout their walk down the stairs, they both asked questions which Santana answered the best she could. From what she could tell, Sam was more receptive to what she was saying than Rachel was. But then again, finding out your best friend isn't who you think they are can often be quite hard to accept.

By the time they made it to Bryant Park, everyone else was already there. While Sebastian was a bit hesitant about going skating after the last time they'd gone, he felt better to have that time under his belt. Plus the fact that Blaine said he'd stick by his side the entire time helped, not to mention the reassurance that he'd take good care of him should he fall and hurt himself. After getting their skates, Rachel and Santana pointed out anyone that wasn't with them the previous night, which was mainly Blaine's band aside from Morgan who'd been with Jeff. "In case it wasn't mentioned, Kurt doesn't like any of them either, especially Justin." Rachel said as he skated by with Talia. "Kurt believes he's too arrogant."

"She's telling you this incase Kurt happens to show tonight." Santana added before standing. "So be prepared, anyone you're with right now, he doesn't like aside from Rachel really." Then without saying anything else, Santana was off onto the ice as Wes and Beat approached.

"Do you think he's going to be there Rach?" Sam asked as they got up to make their way onto the ice. "I mean, he's got to know Blaine's boyfriend and friends would probably be there."

"I honestly don't know Sam as nothing he does really makes sense. Just know, the guys are prepared for it after last time." Sam nodded in response before they made their way onto the ice, just ahead of Blaine and Sebastian.
