"Please, don't spoil my day, I'm miles away. And after all, I'm only sleeping." I'm Only Sleeping, the Beatles -Dasey-
I'm Only Sleeping, 3:00
Casey smiles at her sleeping 'roommate.' Slipping out from between her sheets, she goes to the laptop on the desk.
Logging off the video chat, she IMs him.
Space-Case: Sleep good. TTYL. Sweet dreams. :)
She sighs, wishing that they weren't thousands of miles apart. It was almost time for her to get up, she realizes, noticing the morning light coming through her open curtains. The alarm clock flashes the time up at her. Four thirty a.m. Poor Derek. She'd probably kept him awake well past midnight, in L.A.
Casey yawns, deciding that fair was fair. He'd woken her at about midnight her time.
Some days, she'd want to go back to bed. To curl up underneath the duvet and pretend that she was with Derek, instead of only being able to chat him once a day, after both their cities were asleep.
She smiles at that. New York was never asleep. Neither was Los Angeles. That's part of the reason she and Derek logged on their computers to chat at all hours of the day. Her boss had almost caught her last time, but Casey managed to minimize the program, and started reading her newest piece aloud, to the wall.
After about five minutes, she'd stopped. Derek had laughed at her.
She showers, and reads the Wall Street Journal online before her phone rings, receiving his text.
Thanks. Have a good day, princess.
Casey smiles, as her father comes down the stairs. "You're up early," he comments.
"I was up late."
"Derek call again?"
"No, we were chatting."
Dennis studies his daughter. "Just remind him, I'm not getting any younger. He may have to come ask me a certain question sometime soon."
"Daddy!" Casey exclaims, her cheeks pink.
"Casey. We both know that it'll lead to that someday."
"Someday."
