"You can sit around and wait for the phone to ring, waiting for someone to tell you everything. Sit around and wonder what tomorrow will bring. Maybe a diamond ring." End of the Line, Traveling Wilbury's [George Harrison] -Dasey-
End of the Line (Traveling Wilburys [George Harrison]), 3:30
Derek Venturi was home.
Granted, not really. He was in New York City. But, he was there with Casey, and that was good enough for him.
"Good morning," he whispers, coming into her room after a discussion with Dennis.
"Good morning. I just can't get over that you're here with me." She grins and stretches out on the bed. "I don't understand one thing though."
He smiles and sits on her bed. "What's that?"
"Not that I'm complaining, but what are you doing here? I know you're a big shot in Cali now and all, but this trip can't be cheap."
"Not as expensive as all those long-distance calls we've been making."
"Be serious, Derek. What are you up to?"
"Nothing," he answers with a mischievous smirk.
She raises an eyebrow. "And why don't I believe you?"
"Because you know me too well," he answers. Changing the topic he asks, "Do you have plans for today?"
"Well, I'm already late for work. I could call in sick."
"I like that idea," Derek teases. "Up and at 'em. I'm ready to see your city."
…
"Okay," Casey sighs, leaning against the seat of their cab, "you've seen Central Park, the Statue of Liberty, Grand Central, the Rockefeller Center, Staten Island, and four museums. It's nearly dark."
"One more place," Derek urges.
Twenty minutes and a hefty fee later, they're at the top of the Empire State Building.
"Derek, you know I hate heights."
"I know, but this makes it memorable."
They look out over the glowing lights of the city. "Derek, this day's already memorable."
"Well, it'll be memorable."
She looks down at him, clasping a hand over her mouth.
From his position on one knee he smiles up at her. "This is the end of the line for me. Will you marry me, Casey MacDonald?"
"Yes!" she exclaims, throwing her arms around his neck for a kiss. She pulls back. "Did you just propose to me with Beatles lyrics? Der-ek!"
