"Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away. Now it looks as though they're here to stay. Oh, I believe in yesterday." Yesterday, the Beatles -Simon-
Yesterday, 2:05
Simon stares at the photos adorning his parents' home. He was the only MacDonald-Venturi who could say that both Nora and George were his blood parents.
"Simon," his oldest half-sister calls.
"Hey, Casey," he smiles. "Where's Derek?"
"Outside with Edwin."
"They're taking it hard?"
"Surprising, isn't it? George's been gone for nearly half a decade, and it's my mom's death that sends them off the edge."
"Well, our family's always been surprising," the college senior admits.
"I…well, I always wondered… did this bother you? The way Derek and I, and Lizzie and Edwin ended up together?"
He smiles at her. "No. It was always normal to me. Marti was supportive of you all. My friends… some of their parents never let me come over. Mom told me one day that it was their loss, cuz I was a good kid."
"She was right," Casey ruffles his hair lovingly.
"Can I ask you a question?"
"Shoot."
"Why am I in charge of the estate?"
"Simple. You lived with both of them the longest, and you're the only full MacDonald-Venturi. Mom and George asked for this. You are special, Simon, because you are you. Simon MacDonald-Venturi."
"Thanks, Casey."
"I love you, little bro," she whispers, hugging him.
