Hey lads and lasses, the double S to the M is back to kick some asses (see this is why white boys don't rap). New chapter and a long one at that, reason it took a while, but were finally getting on track at last. Now a lot of you want to know about the pairing ups to the teens since I declared Fishleg and Ruffnut together. Well just to let you all know I put a poll up, that'll teach him to nick my bins lol. No I'm kidding but I did put up a poll for you my reader to vote on which couple pairing you want from this and it might give you a spoiler on who will be in the story later on, maybe in the next couple of chapters, we'll see, so get voting, tell your friends, tell you family, tell your pets, your friends pet, but not the helicopter cat from Holland, it scares the shite out of me :P. Anyway poll closes on 18th of febuary and whichever one has the most votes will be the deciding pairing.

One last word before I left you read, big it up to my man Rumbles for proof reading it for me and hopefully soon have chapter 4 if iron fury ready soon.

Chapter 14 Truth & Exodus

The Cove Normal POV

"Marvellous! That's just so effing marvellous!" Hiccup shouts as he takes a leaf out Astrid's book and tries to kill the nearest tree with his scimitars as Toothless watched with concern for his human brother.

Hiccup told him he won the fight but also told him about what his dad had done to him and knew that he needed to let it all out.

"I thought you told him you couldn't kill dragon?" Toothless growled knowing Hiccup couldn't understand him, but felt like Hiccup was, particularly when he answered back.

"I did bud" Hiccup sighed as Toothless looked surprised by perking his ear flaps up and widening his already large eyes.

'How did he know what I said?' Toothless thought, he knew Hiccup could guess well but even he couldn't guess THAT well.

Hiccup carries on talking but taking a slash at the already cut up tree after every word "He. Just. Doesn't. Listen. To. Me!" putting so much force into that last word cutting through the tree entirely.

Hiccup looks away and down to his feet, breathing heavily as the tree falls lifelessly to the ground.

He squeezes his left hand still feeling the pain, but luckily it was only bruised so will heal in no time.

Toothless looked at Hiccup with concern etched onto his scaly face as he walks towards him cooing and rubbing his head against Hiccups making the boy lift his head and look into the Night fury's eyes before smiling.

"I know your worried bud" Hiccup calmly said while scratching Toothless behind his ears making the dragon purr.

"He's not the only one who's worried for you"

Hiccup turns toward where the familiar female voice came from to see his blond shield maiden of a girlfriend come walking up to them with sad smile on her face.

Before he knew it she was next to him and embraced him in a tight hug making Hiccup feel comfortable knowing that he had her and after that duel, he still did.

"Astrid, I won't kill the Nightmare" was all Hiccup said while resting his head on her should as she did with his.

"I know babe, we'll find a way to get round this" Astrid said calmly, she wouldn't want to kill the Nightmare either if she would have been chosen, which would of looked likely since using the non-violent ways to subdue the dragon in the ring before they 'escaped', she got to the top of the class and knew she would have been picked, but then she would be where Hiccup is right now.

But it was still unfair for the chief to do that to his own son even when he told him that he couldn't kill dragons.

But they'll both find a way around this together.

The loving couple stayed in each other's arms for a few long minutes before separating slowly as they looked into each other's eyes before smiling.

"Hey I tell you what babe, how about we go for a flight on our dragons that would cheer us both up" Astrid said smiling at him before looking around for her blue Nadder, realizing the only dragon in the cove was Toothless, who at this point of hearing the word 'flight' was jumping up and down in excitement.

Yeah the unholy offspring of lightening and death itself acting like an overgrown puppy being told to go walkie's.

"Err where the other dragon?" Astrid asked Hiccup looking concerned that they're not there.

"Don't worry milady, they all went hunting for fish, they'll be back later with a catch for Toothless too" Hiccup said calmly to reassure her worried nerves that the dragons are fine.

Astrid at this point wasn't concerned anymore, well not with that, but confused how Hiccup knew where they went and that they would be bringing back fish for Toothless too.

But now she come to think about it, it was the same with her and Stormfly like she know what her Nadder was trying to say to her sometimes.

"Hey why don't we fly on Toothless, you've not been on the back of him before" Hiccup suggested as he started to climb on Toothless' saddle waiting for Astrid to reply back.

Astrid gave her boyfriend a smile and casually walked up to him as she starts to get on behind him "okay, but I doubt he'll be as fast as Stormfly" she said as she got herself comfortable in the saddle and got a good grip on Hiccup (A/N Don't get dirty minded! Well not yet anyway)

Little did she know that she just said the wrong thing in front of Toothless, he had an evil grin on his scaly face as he was going to show why Night furies are feared.

"Okay bud we're ready, just take us up nice and slowly okay bud" Hiccup said patting the side of the dragons head.

The next thing the teens knew was they were being shot fast and high into the air as Astrid started to scream in terror and surprise as the shear speed they were going.

Toothless ducked and dived as they left the island and headed to the sea stacks doing sharp turns left and right as he ignores Hiccups screams for him to slow down before going back up into the air and start twirling all the way up

"Oh now he's spinning" Hiccup shout with a dull tone in his voice before Toothless decided to dive back down again while still twirling "thank you very much, you useless reptile" Toothless hears Hiccup say sarcastically as the black dragon laughs.

"I'll slow down when your mate apologizes to me!" Toothless growled wondering that if Hiccup could understand him that she might.

It seems he was right as he hears her shout "Okay, okay! I'm sorry Toothless! You are fast! Very fast!" as she closed her eyes not wanting to see the ground.

Toothless smiled before tilting his wings to slow himself down before gently ascending to the clouds.

Astrid wondering why they didn't hit the ground yet as she slowly opened her eyes to see something amazing.

Clouds, pure white clouds, Astrid was astounded, sure she saw them up close on Stormfly, but she never saw them like this before, she never touched them before.

She wanted to touch them, and touch them she did as she raised both her hands away from her man to grab a handful of cloud.

"It feels so wet and cold" she said as she brought her hands back down to rub her fingers and thumbs together as she smile "but it feels refreshing" making Hiccup smile as he look back at her.

They flew like this for hours doing stunts in the air and feeling what it was to be free, smile to think that no one from their village can imagine what it was like to fly and feel the freedom of bitter life on the ground.

This is what it truly means to be a dragon, and the young couple were living this reality up in the air right now.

As the sun started to set Toothless ascended even higher above the clouds to reveal the night sky and all its colourful wonders.

"Okay I got to admit babe, this it amazing" she said before patting Toothless on the side of the head while smiling "he's amazing" making Toothless smile as Astrid turned Hiccups face towards her to see him smile "your amazing" she said as she gave him a loving kiss on the lips.

They didn't know how far they were from Berk but they didn't care at this point, all that mattered to them on what they were going to do about this dragon killing Hiccup had to do.

"What are we going to do Hiccup?" Astrid asked hoping he could come up with a plan.

Hiccup took a few seconds to answer before replying "we need to set the Nightmare free somehow" he knew it wouldn't be easy now that the nest hunting party was back and guards were all over the arena to make sure the last dragon they had caged up didn't escape.

But Hiccup would find a way to free him, he just needs to find it.

Suddenly the two teens were jerked to the right as Toothless made a sharp left turn towards the open sea.

"What the? Toothless! You okay bud?" Hiccup shouts as Toothless picks up speed Ignoring Hiccup and Astrids calls.

It was like he was possessed.

The teens never saw where they were going as they were more worried for the Night fury but when they did, all they saw was a thick fog.

"Where are we?" Astrid says hoping Hiccup had a clue.

"I-I don't know Astrid" he replies back looking around for any sign as to where they are while weaving around sea stacks.

It wasn't until they dodged a wooden structure that Hiccup had a feeling where they were.

"Oh gods no" was all Hiccup could say before both him and Astrid crouched low into the saddle as they catch site of other dragons, bringing in their kill.

"I know where we're going now, and the clues in those dragons" Hiccups says while pointing at a purple Nightmare going past them with a sheep in its claws.

"Wait if these dragons are hauling in their kill, what does that make us?" Astrid worryingly said, not wanting to know the answer.

Hiccup however was trying to hold back saying a snack to avoid more bruising on his arm.

As they cleared the fog, Hiccup and Astrid were stunned as they noticed a large mountain right in front of their eyes.

Before they could take in the large mountain, they realized they were ascending up towards the top, into the mouth itself.

"Whoa! Toothless!" was all Hiccup could shout as Toothless sped down to a nearby ledge and just stand in the shadow not to be seen.

Hiccup and Astrid took this as a sign to do the same as the watch the dragons bring back their kill.

"Well it's nice to know all our food is being dumped down a hole" Hiccup said sarcastically.

Astrid just rolled her eyes knowing Hiccup couldn't resist being sarcastic in any situation, but something else made her wonder too "how come they're not eating any of it?"

"FEEEED ME!"

Both Hiccup and Astrid shook their heads at where that voice came from.

"What the hell was that?!" Hiccup said wondering where the voice came from.

"I don't know, and I don't want to know" Astrid replied nervously before looking up and dragging Hiccups attentions to what she was watching.

A lone Gronkle lazily hovers over the pit and regurgitates a small fish.

"UNACCEPTABLE!"

Suddenly Hiccup and Astrid held their breaths at what they saw right in front of them.

A giant pair of sharp teeth coming up and snapping at the Gronkle before it could get away.

The rest of the head fully emerged revealing the largest dragon head either of the teens had saw.

And it was looking right at them.

"HUMANS!"

"Okay I think we overstayed our welcome, come on bud we need to go now!" Hiccup shouts trying to get Toothless' attention but to no avail no matter how many times he shouted to the possessed Night fury.

As this was happening Astrid was frozen looking at the large dragon head approaching slowly towards them.

"FOUL HUMANS! WEAK WELP!"

Astrid didn't know what to make of it and soon Hiccup saw what she saw still trying to get Toothless' attention.

"Toothless! Come on bud we need to go now!" he shouted again but still nothing.

But as the large head was about to open its jaw to devour the trio, something happened that no one expected, not even Hiccup either when he did it.

"PISS OFF YOU STUPID FATHEADED REPTILE!" Hiccup shouted a shout so loud that it echoed throughout the cavern, startling everyone even the big dragon and Toothless which snapped him out of his trance, realizing what was about to happen shot into the air along with the other dragons startled by his riders voice.

As they exited the mountain the large dragon recovered from her own shock to try and snap at the black dragon but only managing to snag a red Zippleback instead.

At the Cove Astrid POV

We travelled back in silence, still stunned at what happened, so many things that's explain the raids, but not the voice from that large dragon or where that powerful shout Hiccup did came from either, and by the look on his face after he did it, he didn't know either.

As we landed we both got off Toothless who slumped straight on the floor from exhaustion while me and Hiccup did the same resting our backs against the black dragon pondering what just happened.

After several minutes I broke the silence "it makes sense now" I said as Hiccup looked at me, giving me his full attention as I carried on "that large dragon is their queen and the dragons that raid are her drones bringing her food otherwise she'll eat them, a selfish ruler making her subjects fear her to get her own way" I must of said what he was thinking too as he smiled and nodded at what I said.

"You're right milady, and somehow we need to free them, somehow" he said as looks at my eyes, his filled with determination and a hint of fear, but I have a feeling what that fear was so I held his hands and smiled at him.

"I don't know where that shout of yours came from but I'm glad it happened when it did otherwise we'd be that dragons snack" I said as I kissed his cheek making him smile too.

"Red Death" said a growling voice from somewhere, but as I look around, no one else is here except me, Hiccup and Toothless.

But it wasn't Hiccup as his lips never moved to speak and he doesn't growl, well not unless we're making out but not like this.

And by the looks of it he was thinking the same looking around too.

Both me and Hiccup then looked to the only other living being in the cove with us, Toothless.

"Err bud d-did you just talk?" Hiccup asked nervously wondering what will happen next.

But what happened next stunned us both.

"Yes" Toothless said with a bark.

Okay I know today has been absolutely and completely exhausting but surely dragons can't talk.

Can they?

"Bud, this might sound stupid to ask but, how are you talking?" Hiccup asked looking both scared and excited, only he would be excited at something crazy.

Toothless just rolled his eyes before speaking again "humans" he growled lowly as he looked at us "my egg mother always said you lot were thinker than two short planks stuck together with stupid glue" he finished off with a grin.

"Hey!" both me and Hiccup shouted feeling insulted.

Toothless just laughed before speaking again "no offence" he decided to look serious at us as he carried on "but to answer why I can speak, what I can tell you is more like how you can understand me, or specifically, dragons. Well to tell you the truth, I'm not sure myself, but it might have something to do with you two bonding with dragons, the same might be for the smart fat one and the two human terrors"

It might be so, we might have to ask them later but then Toothless' face fell into a frown as he looked down at his paws.

"And for your information that demon is called a Red Death, a semi-alpha dragon who controls us lesser dragons as she calls us using her voice, this Red Death has been living in that mountain for the last three hundred breeding cycles making her lazy, vicious and cruel!" he said with a painful defensive growl.

Hiccup heard the pain in Toothless' growl too so did what he could do.

Comfort the black dragon by hugging his scaly head making Toothless look up to him with wide, shiny dilated eyes.

"Even a powerful dragon like me couldn't even break her hold on me, that was until you Hiccup shot me down, it brought me back to my senses" Toothless said before smiling at Hiccup "you gave me back my freedom" he finished off nuzzling Hiccup with affection, but then it was Hiccups turn to feel guilty.

"But at a cost, you can no longer fly without the artificial fin and someone to operate it" Hiccup mumbled looking sad that it was him that did that to him.

I decided to put my hand gently on his shoulder and made him look at me "babe, freedom has a price and….."I pause as I look at Toothless who at this point decided to play with his own tail, quite amusingly and I start to laugh "looking at him, he seems happy enough".

This seemed to make Hiccups smile as we held each other as we snuggled together thinking about how we were going to not only save Hiccup and the Nightmare's fate as well as saving the other dragons from the Red Death's clutches.

But with today being exhausting what with the duel, the flight and the nearly being eaten, we just couldn't think much so just relaxed as we watched the other dragons return and seeing an excited Toothless playing with the others, although noticing that he seemed to be more close to Stormfly than the others, makes me wonder about those two.

"Thank you Astrid" I heard Hiccup whisper in my ear as he nuzzled himself in my neck kissing it and making me feel warm and comfortable.

"Why you thanking me babe?" I sighed as his actions were making me feel so relaxed, it's strange to think that a shield maiden like me could feel like that when Hiccup does it.

"For everything milady, for all the times you were patient with me during training, to giving me the words to help me out in situations to just being you" I felt him smiling on my skin as he said that.

I gently grabbed his chin and lifted it up to look directly into my eyes as I smiled at him "If anyone who should be thanking the other is me, you brought back the Astrid, that so many tried to bring back, even my parents. I was cold-hearted, nasty, I thought of nothing but being the best and no one would stand in my way, not even my best friend" I felt sad at the fact that I threw away my friendship with Hiccup when we were young because I thought of him as a waste of space but smiled how he brought me back "I remembered all the times you tried to be friends with me again, from the inventions to stop dragons to the weapons you made, when you made my spiked skirt I did see you in the light for a brief second, but as I saw the others bullying you, I realized that I would never be taken seriously as a warrior if I hung around with you" I looked down guiltily thinking how that Astrid was to everyone then back into his eyes and smiled again "but that wasn't who I was, deep down that is, that little Astrid I kept walled up and you broke those walls down Hiccup, you broke them down just like that" I said snapping my fingers "and to this day babe, I never regretted a single thing, even after I found out about the contract".

Hiccup raised an eyebrow at that last bit which confused him a bit "what contract Astrid?" he asked.

"Wait, you don't know about any contract between us?" I asked as he shrugged his shoulders and shook his head as to say 'no'.

So his dad never told him about the marital contract him and my parents set up?

Well it might be best to hear it from me then I suppose.

"Our parents have set up a contract for us two to be married" I said holding his hands but the reaction from him was priceless and kind of cute.

He was worried "I swear milady I never knew anything about that, otherwise I would of asked you first, and only when I knew we were both ready for it, I would never ever force you into something you were not ready for or never wanted, I swear I'll go to my dad and stop this if it makes you happy and…." Hiccup kept babbling on in panic, he cared what my opinion was and I was happy to know he would never force me into something, so just so he stopped talking I crashed my mouth to his, surprising him before he responded to my kiss with his own.

I moved my lips away from his for a few seconds so I could speak "Hiccup, babe, I know you wouldn't force me into anything, but the thing is" I looked at him with a wide smile holding his hands "I want to marry you, maybe not yet as were still young but I do want to be Mrs. Haddock one day, you're my everything" then Hiccup did something completely crazy but for once, not stupid at all.

He crashed his lips onto mine, putting so much passion into it with every second passing, I couldn't resist him as I laid on the grassy floor and dragged him along with me, our lips still locked together.

We have had load of make out sessions like this before so it felt natural to us as our tongues were fighting for dominance in each other's mouths.

We knew never to go as far as intercourse but hey were two hormonal teens in love so sometimes is can get a bit racy, but I'm not going to tell you when those happened.

But since we were too tired and the sun was setting we decided just to lay in each other's arms all night until the morning with our dragons by our sides, Toothless lying next to Hiccup as Stormfly laid next to me both draping their wings over us like blankets, it felt nice and warm as me and Hiccup fell asleep in each other's arms.

But I have this strange feeling that were being watch by something.

Could just be my imagination.

Next morning Hiccup POV

As I felt the light of the sun hit my eyes I realized where I was and remembered what happened yesterday, the duel with Snotlout and winning, my dad announcing that I was going to kill the Nightmare even though I told him I didn't want to, the flight me and Astrid took to cheer me up, us arriving at the nest and coming face to face with the cause to all the raids and finally Astrid telling me about the contract our parents set up but saying she would marry me when we were good and ready anyway, now that put a smile on my face as I see the blond shield maiden asleep in my arms as our dragons wings still cover us, what a way to wake up in the morning, nothing could ruin this moment.

Of course I remembered the gods hate me.

Suddenly Toothless' ears perked up and started to look around.

"What is it bud?" I asked him lifting myself up which caused Astrid to stir.

"Hiccup? What's going on?" Astrid said yawning while looking at me.

Looking at the other dragons in the cove, I noticed they were doing the same.

Then Toothless' eyes turned into slits and looked at the others.

"Guys! Get out of here!" he barked before the dragon nodded and flew out of the cove.

Toothless then turned to us "we got to get out of here you two!" he barked as we both looked confused.

"What's wrong Toothless?" I said as he was panicking, wanting us to hope onto his back.

But what he said next made me pale with fright.

"Humans from your village"

That was enough to convince me that we needed to go.

But before we could even get to Toothless, several bolas came flying out in all directions towards the black dragon, wrapping around his legs, wings and mouth.

"Toothless!" I shout trying to get to him but I was tackled to the ground by several figure who held me in place with my face in the dirt.

"Hiccup!"

Looking to where the voice came from only to see it come from a distraught Astrid who at this point is being held tightly by my uncle Spitelout.

"Well it seems the fishbone has a few tricks he'd like to share with us" came a voice I was so not happy to hear.

Looking round slightly at who was pinning me down was none other than Snotlout accompanied by Ugthug and Samson to which all three were holding me down.

Really? It take three idiots to hold me down?

But looking forward again gave me fearful queasiness in my stomach at the approaching boots coming towards me.

Snotlout decided then to grab my hair and pull back so I was looking up to the owners of the boot and, with my fear right about who they belonged to, was the scornful eyes of my dad looking down at me then towards Toothless.

"Get those two to the prisons immediately and take that infernal beast to the ring and lock it up!" my dad ordered to all the villagers present.

"No! Don't hurt him! Please!" I shouted over and over again but to no avail.

Then the next thing I knew.

*Whack!*

My whole world went to black.

Berk Prison

As I open my eyes, having realized my head is hurting like hell, my vision comes back into focus I notice my surroundings.

Walls, dark walls, and bars surrounding me.

Then my memory come flooding back as I sit up and bury my face in my hands as I realize the situation I'm in.

"Well well well, look how the mighty have fallen, well lets be truthful, you were never that either" that voice that I didn't want to hear at that moment, or in fact ever.

"I'm so glad I followed you and my girl down to that place and saw you with those dragons otherwise you wouldn't be here now and me, Snotlout, made a hero for capturing the mighty black beast and the devil that rides it" I hear him shout behind the bars of my cell with his cronies praising his efforts.

"Yeah congratulations Snotface" I said dripping every word with sarcasm "It only took the entire village to take me down for you to be made a hero"

"Well that's not the best of it, now that you've been exposed as the dragon lover you are, you are no longer the heir to the throne, I am!" Snotlout said with a smug tone in his voice.

"I'd give it a month" was the only thing I needed to say at that point.

"A month till what fishbone?" he asked with curiosity, making me grin.

"Till Berk is burnt to the ground and the village kick you off the throne" I said as turned my face to him with a smirk plastered on my face "I mean let's face it, when it comes to diplomacy, you're are about as useful as a torch made of ice" I kept my smirk as Snotlout became angry.

"Who needs diplomacy when I got my reputation as a true figure of a Viking, unlike you" he shouted at me clear to me that I pissed him off good and proper.

"Oh please, the day your 'Vikingness' alone makes you a good chief will be the day I start wearing a dress and I call myself Hicca" at this point he was furious but I found it amusing watching him fail about screaming all sorts of cursed words at me.

But then he said something that made me stop smiling "not only that, but because of your betrayal, even though you somehow won, my dad convinced the others in the village that you should be disqualified for using dragons to win, which means I get Astrid to be my wife, boy was she stunned, she'd be stunned with happiness that she finally gets the man of her dreams" he said smugly as he kissed his biceps, making me want to throw up.

No, I can't let that happen, not to Astrid, my Astrid, if anything she should be free to choose who she wants to marry, that was the reason I wanted to win in the first place.

Before I could respond Snotlout and his cronies laughed and bidding me later and saying something about getting good seats for tomorrow's event, I didn't like the sound of that, not one bit.

As they left I heard muffling noises coming from where they left follow by what sounded vaguely like a punch and a groan and the door to the prison opening again to reveal four people I wanted to see, particularly the distressed blond one with the spiked skirt.

"Hiccup!" Astrid shouted as we both headed to each other with only the bars stopping us from fully embracing each other but like that would stop us from showing how we felt for one another.

"Astrid! You're okay, I was worried you'd be in the cells too" I said worryingly, but looking into her eyes revealed she'd been crying.

No not Astrid, my Astrid is fearless and for her to cry should be impossible.

"Hiccup, I-I don't want to lose you" she said out of the blue surprising me a little before I could answer back.

"I don't want to lose you either" I reply back using my free hand to wipe her tears away, making her smile before kissing me, a kiss that I never wanted to break before a cough behind her stopped us and I then remembered she didn't come alone.

Fishlegs and the twins looked at me with worry and anger.

"Hiccup, we can't let this happen, it's so wrong" Fishlegs shouted, I never seen him shout before, but then I've never seen him angry before.

"Yeah, we need to do something" Ruffnut said as he put her hand on Fishlegs shoulder before Tuffnut nodded in agreement.

"Yeah! We could blow up the prison and set you free!" he shouts as Ruff agrees with him.

"We could use barf and belch to spread the gas around and ignite it!" she said as she rubbed her chin with her free hand.

Astrid turned to the twins in annoyance "really? And what about Hiccup? If you blow up the prison then you'll blow up Hiccup too!" she shouted at the deadly duo who only shrugged.

"Well he's going to be sentenced to death if Spitelout has anything to say on the matter, Hiccup might as well go out with a bang!" Ruffnut said as Astrid face palmed herself at that obvious pun.

But that did get me thinking about the dragons and a thought came to my head making me smile.

Fishlegs saw this and confronted me about it.

"Err, Hiccup, why you smiling?" he asked gathering the attention of the other three who saw me smiling, now that I had their attention, I can ask them a question that will help with my idea.

"Guys" I whispered gesturing them to come in closer "do you guys want things to go back to the way they were before the dragons?" I asked them who took a step back like I just came round to their houses during snoggletog and pissed in their helmets.

Astrid was the first to break the silence "No, I can't live knowing what I know about Stromfly, I'd rather leave Berk if it meant I could feel the wind again"

"Me too with Meatlug!" Fishlegs stepped forward with a determined look on his face.

"Us too!" the twins said as they banged their heads together making their helmets clunk.

Smiling on my face I then gave them a take for them to do before tomorrow "Okay guys, I have a plan, it's stupid and crazy and will get us banished, but it will means we get to keep our dragons" now at this point I was thinking that they changed their minds and wouldn't want to go through with it if it meant leaving their home, but they all stood forward and nodded in agreement as I carried out the plan.

Within an hour we had detailed the ideas and they understood it perfectly "okay guys you know what to do?" I asked them once more to be sure they knew everything needed.

"Got it boss!" Tuffnut said as I rolled my eyes.

"Good now, I will see you all tomorrow, if everything goes according to plan then we'll gather at the meeting point and head off the island afterwards" I said as the nodded and waved me goodbye, but not before Astrid gave me a goodnight kiss before say 'my chief' making me blush.

But as I was about to settle down for the night I hear the door open again followed by a thud of wood on stone.

I turned to the figure standing next to his cell and smiled as I saw my mentor and second father looking back at me with a sad smile making me frown, I feel like I disappointed.

"G-Gobber I…" I was nervously saying but Gobber put his hand up to silence me.

"Jus tell me the truth Hiccup" Gobber said with a serious expression on his face "did ye really befriend a dragon?"

I couldn't get out the words to say yes so I nodded instead.

"An' by me guess tha's a Night Fury since I never seen tha sort of dragon before" he carried on as I nodded to his questions feeling bad that I let Gobber down, my dad I had no problem since I let him down dozens of times, but never did I ever want to let him down.

"An' ye let the other dragons go too" by the sound in his voice, this wasn't a question, more a statement.

I couldn't look Gobber in the eyes so I slumped down next to the bars and looked down at the floor.

"I'm sorry Gobber" I muttered trying not to cry "I'm sorry I…." but what happened next surprised me.

Gobber chuckled and gently put his hands, well hand and hook, on my shoulder as I looked towards him as he gave me a reassuring smile "stubborn, stupid, crazy an' more dangerous than both ye mother and father combined, bu never have I been more proud of ye lad, ye found out who ye are an not what people expect you te be" he said as he patted me on the shoulders and walked towards the door leading out to the prison but not before turning to me one more time.

"If I know ye Hiccup then ye'll have a plan, so I'll ask ye one favor from me, ye and the others stay away from Berk fer three days an return te the cove, got that lad?" he asked me as I looked confused.

Yes Gobber was weird, smelly, love to tease people, but for someone to be trusted? Yes I would trust the man with my life and beyond that I smile and nod as he smiles back and walks out of the door.

But just before I could relax another figure walk through the door, Thor's golden locks I'm popular today.

A short old woman with long bony fingers wrapped around a rattling staff that was taller than her come walking up towards me. This was the village elder and healer, she was the one who looked after me when I was a baby and had no mother, my dad never had time to look after something that cried and pooped a lot, as I got told thousands of times, so she took care of me till I was old enough to be care by Gobber, whenever I got the chance to visit her, she would teach me different things about healing and how to translate her way of speaking, seeing as she took a vow of silence before I was born.

What she was doing here would have baffled anyone but seeing as I was to be executed tomorrow, boy they don't messed around on Berk, I'm guessing she's giving me my last rights.

But as she starts to sign language I start to figure out what she's saying.

"I know" was all she put before smiling and winking at me before gesturing for me to give my hand to her, hesitant I slowly move my arm through the bars.

Suddenly she quickly grabs my hand and pulls it even further out before lifting up my sleeve to reveal my twig like arm. The next thing I knew I was feeling pain as she was digging something into my skin and moving it around, as I look closer I notice she had a sharp claw over my arm and was cutting into my skin, making it bleed, but I could retract my arm as she had a strong grip on me, for an old lady she sure was strong.

Then she stopped and put the claw away into her bag before producing something from there, it looked like black powder, I don't know what it was but I think I didn't want to know.

She slams the powered into the wound she made which made me have to put my hand over my mouth to stop the screaming.

When she let go I quickly took my arm back as the remains of the black powder fell off my arm. Upon closer inspection I saw what she had cut into my skin.

It was a symbol, but not an outcast one I would of likely got if I was banished but the symbol of Berk shining back at me with the mix of the powder and fresh blood in the wound.

I looked at her confused at what she did, but all she did was smile and write something in the dirt next to the cell as she took her leave.

When she was gone I pulled the sleeve carefully over what she did to my arm and walked towards the bars when her scribbling's showed in the torch light.

"I due course you'll know"

Confused at what she meant I shrugged before heading to the bed in the cell and laying down before falling asleep.

"What a bloody day" was all I said before closing my eyes.

Astrid POV

This is it, now that we were out of the prison, we can put out side of the plan into action, as all four of us agreed to meet at the cove once we did our part.

Sure I'll miss Berk because of my family and my chance to be a shield maiden for the island but what would be the point of being one if I couldn't have Hiccup, how could I live the rest of my life without feeling the wind in my hair or clouds in my hands.

If I stay here I'd have to watch Hiccup be killed or exiled and have to marry Snotlout and bare his children.

That last thought made me want to throw up.

The other option is to go with this plan, leave Berk but have the freedom I felt riding on a dragon, maybe even marry Hiccup and bare his children.

Smiling as my stomach calmed down at that thought.

There's no competition, freedom or nothing.

But if I'm going to do this I need to do one last thing before anything else.

I need to tell my family how much I love them.

Stopping the tears running down my face, I straighten up and head for home but before I could open the door, I hear voices on the other side.

"I don't believe this!" I hear what sounds like my dad and he sounds angry.

"Alfsted dear calm down" my mum said, sounds like she's trying to reassure him.

"No Helga! I won't why did that idiot have to do that to ruin my daughter's life?!" I hear my dad shout, but who was she on about? Please tell me it's not Hiccup.

"All those times nears her and he couldn't take a hint! I should of knocked some sense into him myself while his dad was away, I would take my punishment with pride!"

I'm feeling angry, how dare he even say that about Hiccup, I was about to burst through the door and give him a piece of my mind but I was stopped by the next bit.

"I mean, why that idiot Snotlout couldn't leave her and Hiccup alone?! He must know by now she hates his guts and rather jump of a cliff than marry him!" was what I heard and I felt a lump in my throat as I realize that were mad at Snotlout and not Hiccup.

'Maybe it's best to tell them now' I think to myself as I take a deep breath and open the door stopping both my parents in mid conversation.

Well here goes nothing.

"Err mama, papa I-I need to tell you something" I say nervously as I look down at the ground, I didn't want to see there disappointed face.

"I-I can't marry Snotlout, I-I know it would shame the Hofferson name, but if I had him even near me, I'd be executed for murdering the heir to Berk or I would kill myself" I said still looking down, I was scared that my dad would be mad at me and tell me honour for the Hofferson name even though he knows I hate the Jorgenson, but I was ready to accept whatever yelling I was about to be given.

But what I didn't expect was two pairs of arms to wrap around me, looking up I see my parents embracing me.

"We don't intend for you to marry him my warrior" I hear my dad softly say, he pulls me back and looks me in the eyes with his sapphire blue ones "screw honor, hell me and your mother never had a contract till after we found out we had an attraction to each other, before then we were friends" he said as he held one hand in mine and one hand in mums making all three of us smile.

"In fact my dear" mum said as she looked at me with pale blue eyes, they said that I took my eyes from my parents and I can see why "Hiccups parents were the same, of course at first she hated his guts and tried to kick him in the crotch quite a few times" she said chuckling at that before carrying on "but as time went on they became friends and as they hung around more and more, they became even closer and they both knew they were in love" she then cupped my cheek with her free hand and smiled "Valka will love you as a daughter-in-law" wait? Will? Doesn't she mean would? Might be the drama of what's going on.

Both my parents then gave me a serious look before turning to meet each other's eyes and nod before turning back to me.

"But you can't stay on the Island dear, it'll hurt to know we'll not see you for a bit but, your destiny is to be with Hiccup" my dad said putting his hand on my shoulder.

"And if we know Hiccup very well, he has a plan to escape" my mum says as she walks away to bring back a basket and my large camping bag which was full, like they knew I was going to leave "the basket is full of your clothes and a few blankets, take that to the cove tonight, keep the bag somewhere for a quick escape" okay this is really weird, how did they know what I was going to do?

"Mama, papa, how do you know what I was going to do anyway?" I said with confusion in my tone but they only laughed.

"Cause we would do the same thing if we were in your boots" dad said before looking again into my eyes to get my attention.

"When you escape, don't go to the cove, wait three days then go, the search parties will check the forest first then the sea, that way it'll be safer for you to get the rest of your stuff"

I feel like I'm going to cry, my parents want what makes me happy and I couldn't ask for better parents, I will miss them badly.

I couldn't help it at this point, I ran into their arms and burst out crying, but it's not sadness, but joy, joy they care for me as much as Hiccup does "I-I love you mama and papa!" I mumble as they hold me tight as all three of us cried in each other's arms.

When we finally broke apart, knowing they approved me leaving, I left with the basket first to the cove where I was waiting for the others, there I was greeted by the other dragons but what caught my eye was Stormfly, she looked a little down, so I went over to my dragon to comfort her.

"Hey girl, what's the matter?" I asked Stormfly as she turn her head towards me and started speaking, to which I understood.

"I'm just a little worried" she said to me with different tones of growls, squawks and clicks. It felt strange that I could understand dragons now, but I'm happy I can.

"What you worried about?" I asked her but I already knew the answer.

"I'm worried about your mate and Toothless, I know what will happen during next daylight" Stormfly replied before putting her head down.

It was at this point I decided to scratch her under the chin just to cheer her up as I smiled "now, Stormfly, you really think Hiccup and Toothless would give up so easily? I don't think so, Hiccup has a plan and it involves us all leaving the Island together" at this point Stormfly looks up to me and sees the determination in my eyes, making her perk up a bit "now there's my beautiful dragon" I said knowing that will cheer her up just as Fishlegs and the twins came to the cove to be greeted by their dragons, dropping their supplies on the ground.

"Okay Astrid we're here and got all the stuff we'll need to survive" Fishlegs said as her rubbed Meatlugs belly making her hind legs twitch.

"Minus our well groomed yak" Tuffnut said as he punched his sister in the arm.

"Yeah we'll missed that" Ruffnut said returning the favor to her brother making me roll her eyes at the twins.

I decide to stretch my back until I hear a satisfying click I gesture all three teens and the dragons so we can get the next phase of the plan done.

After going over the plan four times now, everyone got it "okay now, dragon you know your part so get ready when the sun comes up to get into position and wait for the signal" I said as all the dragons nodded in response "good, now you three, we'll leave the larger items here but take our camping bags with us somewhere we can grab as soon as we escape" I said to the my three fellow teens, to which two of them looked confused, the twins of course.

"Wait why can't we pick them up at the cove?" Tuffnut said before I pick up his bag and threw it at him causing him to moan "ow I'm hurt I'm really really hurt" he mutters as Ruffnut just laughs at her bothers misfortunes.

"Because for the first few days they'll be searching the forest looking for us and as soon as we land in the cove we'll be spotted in no time. We stay away from the island for a few days with our camping gear before we head back to grab the rest" I informed them to which they shrugged and picked up their bags as all four of us bid our dragon goodbye before head through the forest towards the village.

I bid the others goodnight before getting home and up the stairs towards my room where my bag was, I think where to put it before realizing that if we're flying dragons then the high grounds would do well, so best choice would be on the roof where I can grab it straight away.

As I climb onto the roof I notice three other figures on roofs too, guess the others thought the same too. As a final nod to the others to which they replied back I head in and head to bed knowing this'll be the last time I'll sleep in it.

Before closing my eyes I pray to the gods that our plan goes well.

But knowing who planned it, I have faith that it will.

Next Day the Arena Normal POV

A crisp clear day on the island of Berk, sun is shining, birds are chirping, and it's the warmest day than it has been all year, perfect for swimming, relaxing or even catching a few rays of sunshine if you ask me, but the one thing you expect to happen today was the whole of the village gathering around the dragon training arena waiting for a fourteen, nearly fifteen, year old boy to be either exiled or executed.

And the said boy is in the centre of the kill ring chained up and waiting for what will happen next.

Beforehand Hiccup was allowed to say goodbye to Toothless as a final request, that's when Hiccup told him to inform the Nightmare, that he'll get his freedom as long as the plan goes well.

Toothless understood his human brother's crazy plan and agreed to relay it to the Nightmare which sounded like roars and growl to which the other Viking didn't understand.

Now Hiccup was the centre of attention with all eyes glued upon him.

To his left he see his friends and their parents who didn't join in on the cheering and booing like the others. To his right he sees the forest and the dragon who lie in wait for the signal.

Hiccup then turns his head to look forward at the large red headed man sitting in his stone chair who was looking angry, sad and disappointed 'nothing new there then' Hiccup thought to himself still mad his dad never visited him in the prison to give him a few words, but no.

Next to him is Gobber and Gothi who gave Hiccup a wink knowing that he has a plan.

And standing on the other side of his dad is none other than his cousin and uncle looking smug 'oh I wonder why' Hiccup thought sarcastically, but he can us this to his plan.

Stoick finally stood up and put his hands up to address the crowd, mainly to shut them up, Stoick lived up to his name as he carried on "Vikings of Berk! We are gathered here to witness the punishment of this boy!" he shouted gesturing to Hiccup who looked dead-panned "really? You can't even say my name?" Hiccup said in a dull tone earning a scowl from his father "Quiet!" he shouted directly at Hiccup startling him.

"Now, since Snotlout Jorgenson!" Stoick said before gesturing to the boy next to him who puffed out his chest before Stoick carried on "since he was the one who discovered the traitor!, he shall be the one who will decide his fate" he shouts as the crowd cheer, he allowed this for several minutes before raising his hands to silence the crowd "now before we allow Snotlout what he wants to do, we will allow the accused one last say!" he gestured to Hiccup who at this point was thinking one word in his head as he hid a smile

'Perfect'

Hiccup cleared his throat before addressing everyone "well, I knew this day would come considering most of you hated me since I was young!" he said as he looked around to see some of the face look down "yeah, I heard all the things you lot said 'the runt' 'the mistake' 'I should have been taken instead of my mother' and even that I'm not my father's kid, that my mother had an affair with someone else! How do you think a kid of seven feels people saying things like that about them?!" he shouted as more heads, but Hiccup never shed a tear, he won't give them the satisfaction, so all he did was shrug his shoulders like it was nothing to him anymore "but, that's life, one big cock up!" he said before turning towards his cousin ready to put his plan into action "Snotface! I know you want me dead so no point in this kind gesture crap! I just ask for one thing, give me the blood eagle!" the whole crowd went into shock, "it's better than letting that Monstrous Nightmare out! It hates me for knocking it out and would take pleasure in ripping me up bit by bit, so please don't let it out, even though I know you're too stupid to understand this" Hiccup said as he saw Snotlouts face grow red as he considers his choice before grinning.

"No chance cuz, you will die at the hands of the beast you tried to befriend and watch the shock as you slowly die in pain" Snotlout shouts as he gestures for Gobber to open up the cell to the Nightmares prison as the Nightmare in the prison growled constantly making Hiccup and Astrid smirk at what he was saying.

"Boy that kid is stupid!" he roared before making a spectacular entrance by setting himself on fire and rushed toward Hiccup.

As the others around the arena watched in fear Hiccup remained calm as the Nightmare approached him, as he got closer to the boy, he broke one of the chains on Hiccup setting him free of his bonds.

Now free Hiccup rushes towards Toothless, most importantly the Hidden compartment in his saddle, thanking Thor that they didn't take off the tail or the saddle on Toothless, he grabs his arm bands containing his scimitars which he produced before rushing back to the Nightmare and whispered to him if he could have some of his flammable saliva to coat his blades to which he accepted.

Once both blades were fully coated he rushed back over to Toothless to unstrap the muzzle on his mouth just in time as the villagers start to get riled up waving their weapons about.

'This is it' Hiccup thinks as he hold out his blades like wings before he shouts to his dragon.

"Toothless! Now!" he shouts as Toothless lets out a small plasma blast to each scimitar making them ignite a purple flame giving Hiccup an intimidating look, except for the Astrid, Fishlegs and the twins who at this point had managed to open the gate and get in the ring to join Hiccup.

"Vikings of Berk!" Hiccup shouted a shout so loud it even made his own father startle along with the rest of the village "you have made your choice in life to follow the Viking way! And for that I'm saddened! Saddened you will never experience what we feel now! Freedom! A chance to better ourselves! We are not just Vikings!" Hiccup shouts as all five teens along with Toothless and the Nightmare stand in defensive stance before Hiccup shouts out the last sentence even louder making the chain roof of the arena rattle.

"WE ARE DRAGON RIDERS!"

Suddenly, a huge explosion destroys the roof of the arena as a Gronkle, Zippleback, Nadder and two Terrors blast their way through to the ring to stand next to their riders to which they get one as Hiccup puts out the flames to the scimitar and folds them back us as he gets on Toothless before signalling for all to get out of the arena and take off.

Stoick being the first to recover from the event at what just happened looks at his son with disgust as his son looks back at him before shouting.

"You're no Viking! You're not even my s….."

"DON'T SAY IT FATHER!" Hiccup interrupts Stoick before he could say his last word "I guarantee if you say it you will regret it!" Hiccup finishes by giving his dad a salute before flying off with the rest of the rider leaving stunned villages staring at the smouldering remains of the dragon arena.

The riders gather up their bags from their roofs before they all head away from Berk and towards the open sea as all five teen cheering about the same thing.

The plan worked!

Yay they escaped! But they haven't left yet, they still need to go back for their stuff.
