If I Were A Boy

Keith: it's about time!

Me: sorry, I've been busy

Keith: yeah yeah

Summer: unlike Keith, the rest of us are happy to see you

Kaleb: we are?

Ashleigh: of course!

Ben: now I believe Keith has a job to do

Keith: T.T pokelover0ash does not own Pokemon. She does own her OCs (like Kaleb, Karrie, and Ashleigh)

Chapter 4

Kaleb followed Ashleigh into the fanciest flat he has ever seen in Almia. He took hold of her hand and braced himself to what he was about to walk into. Nick, a blonde man, was lounging on the living room couch in a t-shirt and sweatpants and Sarah, a blonde woman, came through with a tray full of freshly baked cookies.

"Hi Ashleigh!" Sarah exclaimed. "Ooh! Did you finally get a boyfriend? Is that the Ranger you used to talk about all the time?" Ashleigh turned red before nodding.

"You talked about me with them?" Kaleb asked and she nodded again.

"Where's Teah?" Ashleigh asked.

"In the backroom," Sarah replied and they heard footsteps coming closer to them. "Or not."

"How on earth is this not going to end badly?" Nick asked. "I know she's a tomboy, but does she know how to act exactly like a guy?"

"Well, she'll have to learn," Teah announced.

"Because she is now a he and is enrolled in the Ranger School," Hannah added. Kaleb looked at Ashleigh who gave him an apologetic smile.

"And now revealing Kaleb's 'cousin' Sam Layton!" Karrie announced and Kaleb's jaw dropped as he saw his sister with her hair chopped off and styled like a guy's and wearing boy clothing. She looked like a miniature version of him except he was pretty positive that he looked more masculine.

"This is awesome!" Summer cheered but stopped when she saw her brother. "What is he doing here?"

"I accidentally let it slip our plans and secret, sorry," Ashleigh confessed while blushing and looking at the ground. Kaleb slipped his arm around her waist and Karrie's and Summer's eyes almost popped out of their sockets.

"You two dating?" Karrie asked and the brown haired couple nodded while blushing slightly.

"YES!" Summer exclaimed as she jumped up and down like a fan girl.

"Okay, rule number one, no fan girling unless you want people to think you're a girl or gay," Nick said as he sat up.

"But, but," Summer protested.

"I guess Nick and Kaleb are going to have to give her a crash course in how to be a guy," Sarah commented. "Oh and I have cookies." Hannah's face lit up like a child's does when getting a present.

"How am I supposed to explain to my mother that we now have a new cousin and Summer is no longer around?" Kaleb asked.

"We could tell her as well as do a cover story like maybe Summer went to Trainer School?" Ashleigh suggested.

"Wait, there are Trainer Schools?" Karrie asked.

"Yeah, what? Did you think this region was the only place school existed?" Ashleigh asked and Karrie shook her head while blushing from embarrassment.

"So what do I do or not do so they won't suspect me of being a girl?" Summer asked.

"Don't let them catch you taking a shower," Kaleb replied.

"Ooh, almost forgot about that," Teah commented.

"And don't make a fuss over peeing in the woods," Nick added and Hannah rose her eyebrows at him as she grabbed a handful of cookies. "What? It's totally normal for guys."

"Remember guys generally tend to be perverts," Kaleb added.

"And for some strange reason, during school years, guys tend to challenge each other to tell who is the better man, actually they do that anyways," Nick added.

"Don't get caught with your fly down or pants," Dark added as he climbed in through one of the windows.

"You know, there's something called a DOOR," Nick commented. Within the next couple hours Dark, Nick, and Kaleb gave Summer a crash course in how to be a guy while Teah and Sarah decided to go shopping and Hannah dragged Ashleigh and Karrie out of the house just in case the crash course would scar the two innocent minded girls. Hannah decided to make sure Mrs. Layton was somehow in the know without risking being spied on.

"Hey Karrie! Ashleigh!" Kate exclaimed as they made their way back to Vientown. She was with Kellyn who rubbed the top of Karrie's head.

"Kellyn!" Karrie exclaimed as she blushed from embarrassment.

"So what are you two up to?" Kellyn asked.

"Not much," Karrie replied and Kellyn rose his eyebrows.

"That usually means trouble coming from you," Kellyn commented.

"Karrie's been giving my friend, Hannah, a tour of Almia," Ashleigh said to save Karrie and Summer.

"Why-?" Hannah started to say, but she blinked and realized where Ashleigh was going with her statement. "Why yes, she has been a great help." Kellyn looked surprised while Karrie had a smug look on her face as she crossed her arms.

"Really?" Kellyn asked and Ashleigh smiled as she was so happy Hannah caught on, not like she had any doubts. The redhead was a genius after all...she just was not always so keen on social cues.

"Wow Karrie, you just might make a great Operator after all," Kate exclaimed before rubbing the top of Karrie's head. Karrie blushed from embarrassment. She absolutely hated how she was shorter than Kate, Summer and practically every other girl around her age.

"Well I suppose since as of right now I can't be the best Ranger ever, then I guess I'll just be the best darn bad*** Operator this world has ever seen!" Karrie exclaimed.

"Karrie, do have to tell mom that you need to have your mouth cleaned again?" Kellyn asked and Karrie covered her mouth and violently shook her head. "Thought so."

"Rhyth said she'll keep an eye on you, so don't worry," Kate said and Hannah started to leave with Ashleigh as subtly as they could sense they were being ignored anyways. Karrie wrinkled her nose. "What?"

"She's not one of those prissy girls who will try to force me into a dress, right?" Karrie asked and Kate just looked up at Kellyn who looked at Kate. "Right?"

"She doesn't know?" Kate asked.

"Don't know what?" Karrie asked and then she stared down her brother. "Just what did you sign me up for?" Kellyn scratched the back of his head, signaling that he was nervous or embarrassed. "Tell me bro!"

"You see, Operators, they all tend to wear skirts, dresses, makeup, and such," Kellyn replied and Karrie's jaw dropped.

"You WANT me to be put in an insane asylum? Or prison?" Karrie exclaimed and Kellyn shook his head.

"I'm sure there are going to be a lot of things for you to get used, but you could still end up helping a lot of people either way," Kate replied gently.

"Why couldn't I have a big older sibling like her instead of you?" Karrie asked Kellyn as she pointed at Kate. "Because I don't know anyone else who can make things at least somewhat positive like she can." Kellyn shrugged.

"Guess you're not lucky enough, you do have a bit of a tilted halo," Kellyn replied.

"Hey!" Karrie protested.

"So Ashleigh," Kellyn said and Ashleigh inwardly swore as she stopped mid-step with Hannah. They almost successfully left Kellyn and Kate without any incident. "Kaleb went on a date." Ashleigh's face turned bright red and Hannah's eyebrows rose.

"W-Why do you need to mention that?" Ashleigh asked.

"It's just, he never told us who his date was with," Kellyn replied.

"Of course he didn't," Ashleigh commented before sighing. Kellyn used to have a bit of a thing for her back when he met her pre-Kaleb thanks to some stupid jerks kidnapping her Grandfather's Riolu. They went on a date once and that was it.

"Ooh, I know who it was!" Karrie exclaimed and Ashleigh smiled.

"It was with me," Ashleigh said and Kellyn looked a bit surprised.

"She's his girlfriend now!" Karrie exclaimed. She couldn't help herself, she was still a girl. Kate giggled.

"Congratulations," Kate commented. "Glad our grumpy Ranger finally got himself a girl." Ashleigh blushed and Kellyn smiled a bit.

"Take good care of Grumpy for us," Kellyn said as he rubbed the top of her head, messing up her hair like he did Karrie. Ashleigh puffed out her cheeks in annoyance of being treated like a little kid by Kellyn, she had far more experience when it came to world than he did. "And he better take good care of you."

"Oh he will," Karrie replied as she cracked her knuckles. "Cause between me, Summie, and his mom, he'll be lucky if he'll survive, not to mention her Pokemon and her trainer friends. Some of her friends are freaking scary, especially when they're mad." Ashleigh laugh and Hannah smiled before putting her arm around Ashleigh's neck.

"Yep, we'll make sure he knows not to toy with our favorite brown haired teaching prodigy," Hannah said. Hannah almost called her an airhead or a klutz, but we all know that Moon and Emily fit that shoe a whole lot better. "Well, we better go, I think Grumpy is probably missing her." Ashleigh blushed.

"Right, see ya later, Ashleigh," Kellyn said with a smile as he waved. "And it was a pleasure to meet you Hannah." Hannah nodded as she knew enough by now not to ignore someone when they were acknowledging you. Thank you Nick and Sarah.

"Bye! If you never see me again, then I died at the hands of crazy Operators and Operator-wanna-bes!" Karrie yelled as the two trainers left.

~with Summer~

"Aw man, I feel like I will never be the same again," Summer groaned as Nick handed her a coke. He tossed Kaleb one before chucking another one at Dark's head. Dark caught it and Nick swore quietly.

"Sorry, but you wanted to become a boy to become a Ranger," Kaleb replied. "Thought I would have to go through that sort of stuff with a little brother or maybe my own son or sons." Kaleb blushed slightly at the idea of having children.

"Aw, you're blushing," Summer teased.

"Aw, you're acting like a girl," Nick teased.

"So does Jewels, Cilan, and few other boys, Nick," Dark commented.

"Shut it, ninja," Nick replied and Summer giggled.

"Now that you should try to keep to a minimum," Kaleb said. "Chuckling is fine, but giggling? Not normal for a guy."

"We're back!" Ashleigh announced as she walked in with Hannah.

"Didn't you have a short girl with you before?" Dark asked.

"She's with her brother," Ashleigh replied with a smile.

"Ashleigh, guess what?" Summer said and Ashleigh looked at her while Kaleb stared at his sister in horror. He knew that tone of voice too well to take that question lightly.

"What?" Ashleigh asked.

"Kaleb wants sons and he was blushing about it too," Summer replied and Kaleb turned bright red. He lunged over the coffee table at his sister and the two began to wrestle a bit. Ashleigh was frozen as she turned completely red.

"Summer! I'm going to kill you!" Kaleb exclaimed.

"Bro, I was just teasing ya!" Summer exclaimed.

"She's supposed to be Sam now," Dark complained.

"And you're not supposed to give out a fellow man's secret like that, at least not try not to do it front of the person who's secret your telling," Nick said as he scolded Summer. Hannah waved her hand in front of Ashleigh before shrugging and walking over to the kitchen to see if there were any cookies left.

"Your girl is frozen, I think," Hannah said and Kaleb stopped trying to strangle his sister to look over at Ashleigh was trying to figure out what to do with the new information.

"It's not what you think , I swear!" Kaleb exclaimed.

"What is it supposed to be then?" Ashleigh asked, obviously out of her frozen state.

"I, um, just maybe not before we get married," Kaleb replied as he turned red and got quieter as the sentence drew on. Ashleigh turned bright red and Summer snickered.

"Dude, isn't marriage a little soon?" Nick asked. "You only just started dating as boyfriend and girlfriend today." The two teenagers stared at the ground in embarrassment. "And you're both teenagers too." He then looked at Hannah who stared at him from the kitchen with her ice blue eyes. "When is the legal marriage age in Almia anyways?"

"How should I know? I don't live here, permanently," Hannah replied.

"And you're one to talk," Dark commented. "EVERYONE knows you and Hannah have major crushes on each other since you guys were like in elementary and you two STILL won't confess or date."

"Well, I'm glad we're not that bad," Kaleb mumbled and Ashleigh nodded in agreement.

"H-Hey! This isn't about me!" Nick exclaimed as he turned red. Hannah turned red and quietly rushed to her room.

"Remember, once your in, no teasing me like I'm your older brother!" Kaleb said as he turned his attention on what caused the problem: Summer.

"What? We can't be those close cousins that treat each other like siblings," Summer asked.

"Only if you slip up, Sum," Kaleb replied.

"You're a party pooper, you know that?" Summer said as she crossed her arms.

"And apparently he's grumpy too," Ashleigh added with a mischievous smile. Kaleb looked horrified as he looked at Ashleigh in shock. "We ran into Kate and Kellyn, both of which referred to you being grumpy." Kaleb nodded in understatement while Summer cracked up laughing.

"Can we keep her, pretty please Kal?" Summer asked and Kaleb blushed.

"Only if she wants to stay with us and our crazy family," Kaleb replied before putting Summer in a headlock and rubbed his knuckle into her head. Ashleigh laughed and smiled at the two Layton kids whom she has come to love. She joined them on the floor and hugged both of them.

"Of course, I love both of you, and your mom," Ashleigh said and Kaleb blushed slightly before releasing Summer so he could hug her back. Summer joined in on the hug and Nick rolled his eyes. Sarah opened the door with Teah and she dropped her bags to pull out her camera to take a quick picture of the scene.

"This is too cute!" Sarah exclaimed and Nick looked at her with annoyance.

"Really sis? Really?" Nick asked.

"Yes bro, really," Sarah replied with a smile. "Now pick these up and carry them into my room before I blast the social media with messages about you dating Hannah or loving her or any pictures I may have of you too." Nick turned pink and scowled before picking up the bags.

"Huh, why haven't I thought of that?" Summer asked as the three looked at the blonde twins.

"Because you don't go shopping and I would kill you," Kaleb replied and Summer shrugged. Ashleigh laughed as she hoped Kaleb was joking about the killing part.

"So what is it I have to do?" Dark asked.

"Be her doctor," Teah replied and Dark looked like she just told him he had to take care of a few screaming babies.

"What? No spying? No assassinations? No money?" Dark asked and Teah rose her eyebrows. "Why do you girls trust me with something like being a girl's doctor anyways?"

"You blend," Nick replied and Dark glared at him. "No seriously though, you're our best shot at not screwing this up."

"Are you trying to compliment me?" Dark asked.

"Heck no, I'm just stating the facts," Nick replied.

"Wait, so why are we trusting a psycho with my sister's health?" Kaleb asked and Nick laughed.

"I like this kid!" Nick exclaimed.

"He may have been an assassin-for-hire, but he's trustworthy, especially when Hannah or Sarah tells him to do something," Ashleigh explained to Kaleb. "He's skilled at blending into the background and not many people notice him, he's an excellent ninja."

"He's not going to be checking her out or anything, is he?" Kaleb asked as he glared at the black haired ninja who put his hands up in defense.

"Hey, I don't wanna," Dark replied. "Hannah and I have this device we got a hold of that allows for one scan a body and find exactly what's up medically with that body with just that, I'll just use that."

"Since when did you go out with Hannah and get this thing?" Nick asked, obviously jealous.

"Erm, last week, you were sleeping," Dark replied. "Hannah didn't want you to know, something about you being a worry wort and not liking it when she went off to do missions or anything of the sort."

"Why you!" Nick exclaimed.

"Down boy! You're supposed to bringing my stuff to my room, remember?" Sarah said and Nick made a face. It was like a five year old was trapped inside that adult body of his.

"Oi, better get all the girly stuff out now while you can," Teah said as she dragged her bags into the living room. "Oh and I got a call from Rose."

"What does that witch what now?" Sarah asked as Nick left the room.

"She's sending Jewels over, apparently she wants him to learn skills similar Operators and she figures it will help our investigation, that and she says that Jewels might enjoy it." Teah replied.

"Who is Jewels?" Kaleb asked.

"A boy," Teah replied.

"A spineless one," Dark added.

"Who is a bit of a rich stuck up brat," Sarah added.

"Who, to be honest, can be kind of sexist to a point, ironically," Ashleigh added.

"Why are we talking about that pain in the rear end?" Nick asked as he walked in.

"Because Rose wants me to turn him into a girl," Teah replied and Nick ended up rolling on the floor laughing his head off.

"Oh this is priceless," Nick exclaimed.

"Hey, that means he'll be with Karrie!" Summer exclaimed.

"Right a tomboy with a prissy boy, priceless!" Nick exclaimed.

"She could use someone in there," Summer said, worried about her best friend.

"So could you," Kaleb replied. The bell rang and Rose, a purple haired lady, came in with a tall brown hair boy and a short skinny purple haired boy.

"Ack! The witch is here!" Nick exclaimed. Hannah came rushing in to glare at her old rival.

"I got some backup!" Rose exclaimed. "If you choose to use it."

"Why do I have to be involved with Ranger stuff? It's stupid." the brown haired kid complained.

"I don't like him, he seems like the trainer version of Kaleb," Summer commented and Ashleigh giggled.

"Hey! I'm not that bad!" Kaleb exclaimed.

"That would be Nathan," Ashleigh told her Almian friends. Just then Nathan got a call. He then took off. "And that was probably a phone call from Topaz telling him that Moon got lost AGAIN."

"Who is Topaz and Moon?" Kaleb asked and Ashleigh took out a device that brought up a picture of a blue haired girl and a brown haired girl.

"The blue haired girl is Topaz and the other one is Moon." Ashleigh explained. "Moon has a horrible sense of direction and tends to wander easily. It's normal for something like that to happen. However, Nathan seems to be the best at finding her. I think he also likes her, a lot."

"I HEARD THAT!" Nathan yelled from afar and Ashleigh laughed.

"OF COURSE! NOW ASK HER OUT ALREADY!" Ashleigh yelled back.

"Anyways, turn my cousin into a girl!" Rose ordered Teah.

"Wait, WHAT?!" Jewels exclaimed. "I DID NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS! I didn't sign up for anything!"

"You could help a tomboy survive girly school," Summer suggested and it almost tempted Jewels.

"NATHAN! DON'T LEAVE ME! IF I GET TURNED INTO A GIRL, YOU GET TURNED INTO A GIRL!" Jewels yelled.

"NO WAY!" Nathan yelled back.

"WHY ARE WE YELLING?!" Karrie shouted as she popped by.

"Who is this...errr...thing?" Jewels asked.

"What was that?" Karrie asked, insulted.

"That would by the tomboy who needs to survive girly school," Summer replied. Jewels gave Karrie a look over.

"You better not be checking me out," Karrie exclaimed.

"Oh don't flatter yourself girl," Jewels replied. "I'm just seeing if it's worth my time, helping you and the rest of them out."

"Huh?" Karrie asked.

"Seeing as Kare's probably part of some big plan Erma's been cooking up, we should help out and send an insider with her." Teah replied with a devious grin. Karrie shrank back with Jewels.

"I'm not sure if I like where this is going," Karrie commented.

"Me neither," Jewels added in agreement.

"Aw man, does that mean I have to be his doctor too?" Dark asked. "That's just great, Hannah you owe me BIG time."

"Yeah, well, maybe I can get Nick off your case long enough for you to at least ask Sarah out on a date," Hannah replied and everyone in the room was shocked.

"Wait, what?" Ashleigh asked and Dark turned red as Sarah covered her mouth in surprise.

"THE NINJA WANTS TO DATE MY SISTER?! NOT ON MY WATCH!" Nick yelled, more like screamed.

"WOULD YOU STOP BEING SO LOUD?!" Nathan screamed.

"STOP BEING A FREAKING VAMPIRE WITH YOUR HEARING!" Nick screamed back.

"Your friends are...um...strange...and interesting," Kaleb whispered to Ashleigh who smiled and nodded.

"Did Hannah just suggest a romantic reward?" Rose asked as she blinked. Teah hugged Hannah who froze at the sudden contact.

"Little Hannah is finally growing up!" Teah exclaimed. "Does this mean we'll see improvement in your relationship with Nick?"

"TEAH! Just drop it already!" Nick whined. There was then a knock on the front door.

"Stop denying it and maybe I would!" Teah exclaimed.

"I'm going to get the door," Hannah said but Teah held her back.

"This here is a remarkable young woman who has clearly liked you for a long time, now tell me, what is stopping you two?" Teah asked loudly. Karrie sighed before going to the front door. She opened it and froze on the spot as she saw that the knock on the door had come from someone dressed in a Ranger's uniform who was currently standing at the door step.

'Oh crap.' Karrie thought.

~end of chapter~

Keith: WHAT?! you can't just leave it there

Me: I just did =P

Karrie: why is Jewels possibly going with me to Operator's School?

Me: Cause I thought it could be funny and fun

Keith: get back there and at least tell us who is at the door

Me: a guy

Keith: Like that narrows it down

Ben: I want my screen time back!

Summer: Nathan so just ditched me to go to Ranger School by myself

Summer: wow, that's real dedication there

Me: I know? Isn't it cute?

Summer: yep!

Kate: hold up, did I read this right?

Me: read what right?

Kate: that Kellyn went on a date with Ashleigh before and he used to LIKE her?

Kaleb: WHAT?!

Ashleigh: it was before I met you, I swear! scout's honor!

Kellyn: don't kill me, please
