Hi guys and gals, Supersandman with another chapter for you all, and once again thank you for your patience, i was hoping to get this out before i went to Sweden but had so much to do at work and at home that I really didn't have time. I had a good time there, a lot of lakes, expensive to drink there, Stockholm was good, went to the theme park there Gronalund, quite small but had five rollarcoasters to go on. Went to a few museums one being the Vasa one, that is one big arse ship. Anyway enough about my holiday (or vacation to my American cousins) time to get on with the chapter, as it it i'm trying not to make these chapter long but have enough to keep you interested. Anyway here we go enjoy
Chapter 21 Clash of A Lifetime
Normal POV
The two teens rushed at each other, weapons in hand, Astrid with her brand new battle axe while Hiccup had his scimitars activated as they rushed closer and closer. The crowd above the ring watched in anticipation and awe as the two sets of weapons clashed with each other with a loud clang. Hiccup and Astrid glared at each other as they tried to push the other back to no avail. Seeing they were equal in strength, they stepped back, readying themselves for their next attack, Hiccup held his arms out extending his scimitars to his sides as he rushed towards the blond shield-maiden before being close enough to slash at her in all directions, moving his his feet to keep himself balanced as his arms travelled in different motions, aiming each swing at her, he wasn't holding back.
And in honesty, Astrid wanted this.
She stayed on the defensive, angling her large battle axe to block his scimitars, the axe took huge blows, but considering that both sets of weapons were made of the same material, caused no damage whatsoever, however, as both weapons constantly clashed together, sparks flew in every direction causing the crowd to gaze in awe. Astrid was glad her new axe was lighter, making it easier to change angles for her defence, but she soon realized that Hiccup was duel-wielding, and although she knew it meant his attacks weren't as strong, his manoeuvrability with them meant she had to keep her eyes on both his scimitars and his movements 'if only this axe could split in two I could even out this fight and go on the offence too' she thought to herself, bring up an annoyed expression on her face.
Suddenly Hiccup ceased his constant attacks which caused confusion to both Astrid and the crowd. Hiccup simply smiled, he knew she would feel annoyed that she has to be on the defence instead of offence, lucky enough he already came up with the plan ages ago "trouble attack milady?" he asked while holding that toothy grin on his face causing Astrid to be more annoyed, even if he is her boyfriend she never wanted to feel helpless. Again Hiccup knew this and turned his expression to serious as he carried on speaking "look at the handle Astrid, do you see the sharp class symbol?" he asked her, she looks to the handle finding this symbol he was on about. Eventually she spots it, a shiny silver symbol of the sharp class dragons which reminded her of Stormfly, looking up she nodded as Hiccup carried on "good, now press it in" Astrid looked at him confused but he nodded indicating for her to trust him, this was something Astrid believed in Hiccup, to trust in what he was saying, so without hesitation she pressed the symbol into the handle. What happened next surprised her as the large handle split in two and with it the axe head too, she couldn't believe what she saw, her battle axe is now two normal axes, on in each hand, but for some strange reason, even though she was used to two handed weapons, these two axes felt comfortable in her hands, well balance, light enough to twirl in different directions, she wondered that this must be how Hiccup feels with his scimitars. She was so mesmerised by this she forgot about the duel she and Hiccup were having at that very moment, until Hiccup cleared his throat, bringing her back to reality. She looked up to see Hiccup back in his stance with his scimitars at his sides. Astrid however grinned as she too got back into her stance before they rushed at each other again, this time with more enthusiasm knowing she could give him a challenge.
Meanwhile up in the stands, the two heirs of the Bog burglars and Meathead tribe watch closely at their fellow heir, impressed he can hold his own like that with a warrior who had trained most of her life to get where she is today, something the other teens told them. Cami suddenly unglued her eyes away from the fighting to see the other riders huddled together, talking amongst themselves, she wouldn't have thought much of it until she spotted something shiny being placed in the middles of them, she recognized it straight away as gold. She wanted to find out what they were up to but she didn't want to confront them alone so she had to convince some poor sap to follow her.
Or in this case, a certain Meathead.
"Oi! meat brain" Cami shouted as she nudged Thuggory in his ribs so hard, he yelped, grabbing his side that was hit as she carried on "come with me over here" but before he could protest, she jumped up and grabbed him by his hair pulling him along with her towards the other teens, ignoring the colourful words thrown her way.
Fishlegs, Ruff and Tuff were still in huddled conversation until they heard a familiar voice "what are you guys up to?" this made all three stop and look towards the wild blond-haired Bog Burglar and her dark-haired friend, who by this point was rubbing his head after Cami let go of him. The other three however looked petrified as they looked from the two heirs then to each other before nodding. Fishlegs gulped as he began to speak "w-we're p-placing bets, o-on the outcome of t-this fight" he stutters as he tries to hold himself up scared that Cami and Thuggory wouldn't approve of their old friend being used for a bet. However what surprised the three was when both heir smiled and tossed a gold coin in their direction, indicating they wanted in "okay so what's everyone going with?" Cami asked as the Fishlegs and the twins relaxed with a sigh "w-well I picked that they will draw a-and end up kissing" Fishlegs stuttered. "I say Astrid wins, Hiccup's false leg will be a disadvantage" Ruffnut followed "well since Astrid has less experience in duel wielding, I would say Hiccup has the advantage and would win" Tuffnut finished before his twin turned towards him with a glare "what? That's dragon shit! Astrid clearly has the advantage! She's the more seasoned fighter!" Ruffnut retorted, this caused Tuffnut to glare back at her as he banged his helmet against hers "Gronkle bollocks! Hiccup has trained longer with those swords and knows how to work with his body to accommodate them!" he retorted, this resulted in dozens of very colourful word being thrown back at each other as Fishlegs just stood there, his large palm over his face as he shook his head before turning back towards the two heirs "so how about you two?" he said with some added confidence and annoyance, the twin being the latter. The two heirs though about it as Thuggory was the first to speak "clearly they'll both wear each other out until neither can hold onto their own weapons" he said thinking like Fishlegs that either way it would be a draw, just in a different way. This left only Cami to give her verdict, but as Fishlegs and Thuggory turned to look at her, they both felt rather uncomfortable as she gave them an evil smirk before answering them "well, you're both right it'll end up with a draw, however Thugs, it won't be through exhaustion, well not yet at least" this made the two males arch their eyebrows in confusion until they both opened their eyes wide, realizing what she meant, this even stopped the teens argument as they looked at her and simply sniggered "b-but surely they wouldn't go that far as t-to do something l-like that" Fishlegs stuttered, not sure how far those two were willing to go, Cami leaned against the arena wall as she explained her theory "well, they are hormone driven teens, this battle will only add more fuel to that fire, plus haven't you noticed?" she paused as she looked around at her confused companions before rolling her eyes as she carried on "the look in their eyes! They're hungry for each other" she gestured the teen to look at the battling pair as they saw it for themselves, and sure enough a few quick glances solidified that as both never took their eyes off each other during the entire battle. The teens then turned back towards the bog heir as she smirked before throwing her gold piece towards the pile on the floor before simply saying "the bets on" as she turned towards the match again, leaving the other dumbfounded.
Back in the ring, the fight was becoming intense as both teens went at each other head on, blade hitting blade as each countered the others attack, both attacking at fatal blows, like they knew the other would block it, this is how they always trained back in the cove, except they only used their blunt practise weapons, these were not only real weapons, but because of how strong and light these were, meant they needed to always be on constant guard.
Hiccups legs, despite one being fake, moved with his arms and the scimitars he was holding, to others it looked like he was dancing but to Hiccup he was feeling the connection between his limbs working in harmony with each other. As the legs moved, they gave extra speed to the arms to which as the arms moved, gave the extra speed to the scimitars, making the slash attacks even more deadly, in truth Hiccup could understand that this could be a dance. But whatever Hiccup did, Astrid soon came back to counter his with her own moves, allowing the axes to move freely in her hands as they guided her to where she needed to be, but just like her, Hiccup counter with his own moves, they both knew nether will land a blow, so that only meant one thing.
To take it up a step further.
Both Hiccup and Astrid pushed the other away with their weapons as they ran to the opposite ends of the arena, this confused the spectators as the wondered why they ran from each other until gasp in unison as both hit the wall with their feet, pushing with all their force away from it which gave them an extra burst of speed as they started running back to the centre while both shouted out what sounded like a dragons screech before their weapons collided again, this time the attack came in faster and harder in all kinds of directions forcing the other to dodge the attacks as well as blocking them, each swing was random, aiming for the head, the torso or one of the opponents limbs, and yet in all this, neither Hiccup nor Astrid took their eyes off each other, and neither stopped smiling. They were enjoying this battle, even though to other, all they can see is two skilled young fighters going at their hardest to beat their opponent, the speed of their arms and legs overwhelmed most who had to sit down because of the dizziness, and to say these are tough Vikings says a lot.
Seconds soon turned to minutes and eventually hitting the hour mark, and yet neither teen showed no sign of wearing down, the sweat coming from them was enormous and their breathing was becoming more heavy, but their moves never slowed down as each one got the other against the wall only to be counter them against it themselves, their blades clashing so hard more and more sparks flew in every direction, if these had been normal weapons they would have been destroyed ages ago. They both knew this battle needed to end and so came up with a plan to win this fight.
Unfortunately they had the same plan.
An so with one final sprint they readied themselves for the other to attack, but as they aim one of their weapons, both using their left hand, they lock in mid air as their right hand weapons attacked the others neck.
There was a gasp from the crowd at what they saw.
Fore there was no blood spilt, no open wounds, not even contact with skin.
Both fighters stopped a centimetre from the others exposed neck, both looking into each others eyes as they tried to catch their breaths.
Suddenly they dropped their weapons as both embraced each other, locking their lips passionately with they others as the crowd around them cheered at the battle as well as the love they two showed for one another.
Back with the other teens they watched in awe as their two friends made out in front of most of the village, earning wolf whistles from the teens, as well as a smug looking Fishlegs who thought he'd won the bet. That was until they saw Astrid grab Hiccup by the scruff of his collar as she dragged him out of the arena and towards the hut they were staying in. This made Cami laugh as she picked up her winnings before shouting cheerfully to herself "mama knows best!" as she walked casually towards the great hall with the other following behind.
At the Former Nest
A lone figure in blue and brown scaled armour was casually walking amongst the ashed remains of the Red Death they had heard so much about from their resources, meaning the dragons. They never understood why their leader never took out this semi-alpha, only saying it wasn't their destiny to take it down, it was another. Now they can see why.
Suddenly something caught their eye, something that shone from the light. Upon seeing this they rush over towards the object only to reveal that I was a piece of burnt metal, usually this wouldn't be a big thing as metal such as weapons often washed up on any shores particularly when the idiot chief of Berk, decided to go on another hunt for the nest. But this piece of metal look different, it looked like it should have been attached to something, not as a weapon, but something else. Upon hearing about the news about the fall of this dragon from some of the newcomers who had arrived claiming they were saved by humans riding dragon, one in particular was a scrawny human with brown red hair and green eyes on top of a Dark Striker, to which they found to mean Night Fury. But that was strange to say the least, for one Night Furies were rare in fact they live far far north, the only one to ever be found around here was actually hatched in the sanctuary, 'could it be the same one?' they thought to themselves, but that was one thing, the other was the fact that other humans were riding them, but the only Viking settlements around here was Berk, and the way the dragons described the Night Fury rider seemed familiar to them, but the one thing the dragons also mention was that the Dark Stalker only had on tail fin even though it looked like it had two but one smelt of yak hide and had a shiny stick attached to it. Looking close at the burnt metal, they can see that it looks like a rod. This proves what the dragons described now where did they go?
Upon looking across the sea they notice a small green speck in the sky flying towards the island. The armoured figure recognized it straight away as a Terrible Terror, but what was it doing out here alone they thought, but as the Terror came closer and closer, they noticed it had something attached to its leg as it came closer towards them before landing next to their feet. The stranger gently picks the Terror up before respond with a feminine voice, even under the mask "hello there little one" she said scratching the small dragon under the chin "and what are you doing way out here alone to which the Terror looks at here before chirping it reply "my names Sharpshot, well that's what my human named me, it kind of suits me since I can aim my shots well..." before it could carry on the armoured stranger put her hand gently over the dragons mouth, she learnt ages ago that Terror will yap on for age if they're not silenced, this one was no exception. Sharpshot knew it had been rambling on and decided from there to get to the point before heading back "sorry, anyway I was sent to give you this" he gestured to his leg that had something attached to it. It was a note, she carefully untied the string from the Terrors leg before settling him upon her shoulders as she unfolded the note to read it.
Dear V
The one you're looking for it at the place where the name steals despite their gender.
Keep well and remember.
G
That's all it simply said, to many they wouldn't have guessed what it meant but to her, she knew her next destination. And with that she shouted out into the air which sounded like a dragons call and sure enough, the called was replied with another roar as a large four winged dragon, large body came into view, the dragon itself had a smashed face that made it look like an owl, even going as far as acting like one tilting its head curiously at the armoured figure before kneeling down, gesturing to her to climb on to which she does with Sharpshot still attached to her shoulders, she look at him "hold on little one, we'll get you back quicker this way" she informs him to which he nods in compliance. She then turns her head towards the sea as she points outwards in a certain direction "that way Cloudjumper, lets see who this Night Fury rider really is!" she shouts to which the dragon complies by beating its powerful wings, gaining altitude before heading toward the direction its rider pointed out at break neck speed.
She knew they'll be there quick.
She knew what she had to remember.
But the biggest worry she had was, could she handle it. Could she face her past. And more importantly...
Could she face her son.
