Five Years Later
Part 65
With them going away that weekend, Blaine was a bit distracted throughout the day except during rehearsals for the spring concert as he was able to lose himself in the music. When he went to pack his guitar away after rehearsal, he felt a pair of arms wrap around his waist causing him to look to the side. Seeing Morgan smiling at him caused him to turn slightly to look at her. "Someone is in an extra bubbly mood today." Blaine said to her as she released her arms from around him. "Might you be excited to be going away with Jeff?"
"I'm extremely excited actually." Morgan replied as she looked up at him. "I've never actually been taken on a romantic getaway before. If it wasn't for Talia, I probably still wouldn't be packed." When Blaine stifled a laugh, Morgan pursed her lips as she looked at him. "She got a similar look when I said I needed help packing."
"What can I say; our minds are in the same place. But are you really that surprised considering the way you and Jeff look at each other." Morgan shook her head. "See, I just hope you remembered to actually pack some real clothes for wherever it is you two are going. Come to think of it, where are you going?"
"To a B & B somewhere in Connecticut." Morgan told him. "And yes, I did pack some actual clothing along with the other things I packed."
"Other things, meaning lingerie?"
"Yes." She said with a smile. "We're actually leaving in about an hour as that's when Jeff should be here to get me and then, we drive. What about you and Sebastian, when are the two of you leaving?"
"Around three so not much after the two of you get on your way. Bas brought my bag with him this morning so I'm going to heading to his place after my next class. Then once he gets home, we'll be leaving." Blaine told her before closing his case. "And before you ask, I have no clue where we're going. The only thing he told me is that it will take about two hours to get there." When Morgan looked at him, Blaine smiled. "Trust me; I'm as anxious to find out where we're going as you are to be going where you are. I have no doubt Bas has planned the perfect weekend for us."
"I don't either. Sebastian adores you and you can see this weekend means as much to him as it does to you."
"Just as it's Jeff can't hide how happy he is about the two of you going away. Just remember, we've got a busy week next week so try and at least get a little bit of rest." After Blaine winked at her, Morgan giggled. "What?"
"I will only take that advice if you do that same." Blaine looked at her before smiling. "Yea, that's what I thought."
"Hey!"
"Relax, you're secret is safe with me." Morgan said as she took his hands in hers. "And honestly, the bigger surprise would've been if something along those lines didn't happen."
"Busted."
"Not busted, it's truth and there is nothing wrong with two people who love one another expressing it in every possible way." Morgan told him. "Hell, Talia gifted me with a box of condoms this morning saying you can never have enough. And if the way Jeff and I look at each other is any clue, they'll be needed."
"She's got a point there. Let me paraphrase what you said to me, there is nothing wrong with two who love one another expressing it…over and over again." The quirk of Blaine's eyebrows in the end certainly got his point across.
"Damn right!" She responded with a big smile. "Need to make the most of having a weekend all to ourselves."
"Precisely." Blaine replied. "You and Jeff have a lot of fun."
"Same goes for you and Sebastian." Morgan then moved closer and kissed Blaine on the cheek. "I'll see you on Monday morning."
"I'll see you then." Blaine then gave her a peck on her cheek before she headed off. Once Morgan walked away, Blaine grabbed his guitar to head off to a practice room for a bit as he wanted to work on his performance piece a bit more. After reaching the room, he was about to get settled when he received a call from Jean-Baptiste. "Thank you for calling me back." Blaine told him as he set his guitar off to the side.
"Not a problem, as I was pretty sure you were going to want to talk after you got the news."
"So, how was she?"
"She honestly blew me away Blaine, as well as quite a few others who were around to see who our next Elphaba was going to be. I can tell you, she was the most prepared of the group which impressed a lot of people. The feel back stage was it was going to be between Rachel and one other, as the third was honestly a joke."
"How so if you don't mind me asking?"
"She essentially came in with a holier than thou attitude which really put people off."
"Wait, she acted that way to you and the actress that is playing Glinda?"
"Not just us, everyone. During our duet, she refused to look at me and sang to the crowd."
"Did she know she was supposed to, I'm just playing devil's advocate here?" Blaine said as he pulled his music out.
"She did as the director described the scene to all of them before they began. She did the same to Glinda as well. Not to mention, she had the nerve to try and tell me I screwed up." When Blaine laughed, Jean-Baptiste smiled on the other end of the phone. "Yea, that was my feeling as well. But when she started to go into me once we finished, the director was quick to tell her she could go."
"I'm sure her reaction must've been priceless."
"Oh, it was. How did Rachel react to the news?"
"Stunned, as she refused to get her hopes up too high after everything she'd been through. By the way, thank you again for meeting with her and talking with her. It meant a lot to her."
"Not a problem. Now, I need to ask you something as you're friends with her boyfriend."
"Ask away."
"Is he going to take issue with the fact that she and I are going to be kissing each night?"
"No, Thad will be fine with it."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. Why, have you had issues?"
"Not with this show, but in another show I did. My co-stars boyfriend was not happy that she and I had to kiss each show."
"While I can understand it being hard to watch the one you love kiss someone else. It comes with the territory when one dates an actor." Blaine told him. "And since Thad has seen the show, he knows, plus Rachel talked to him about it and he's good."
"That's good to know as it's something I don't want to have to worry about again. The guy could be such an ass about it."
"Well, as long as you don't cross a line, you'll be fine."
"Don't worry; I won't so Thad has nothing to worry about."
"Cool. Now, do you know how long it's going to be till Rachel takes the stage?"
"A lot depends on how quickly she picks things up." Jean-Baptiste replied. "But, our Elphaba will be done in about five weeks. If Rachel isn't quite ready, the understudy will fill in till she's ready."
"This might sound like an odd question, but why didn't the understudy take over the role?" Blaine asked as he'd been curious about that ever since he heard what was going on.
"I think it comes from the fact that while she's good, I don't think she's the type that could do the role nightly for an extended period of time."
"Is she upset that she wasn't considered?"
"Surprisingly, she's not. And if you're afraid it's going to change, don't as she's got a really level head on her shoulders."
"That's something I'm happy to hear." Blaine replied. "Now, while I'd love to talk a bit more I need to get a bit of practice in before I leave school."
"Not in the mood to practice at home?"
"Actually, I don't mind doing so but Bas and I are actually going away this weekend."
"Then I will let you go. Have fun this weekend."
"I plan on it, thanks. Bye."
Throughout Sebastian's last class of the day, he kept glancing at the time on his lap top as he took notes. Normally he wasn't this anxious to leave, even on a Friday. But with him and Blaine going away, he wished they were already on their way. Luckily for him with the rehearsals Blaine had been in he had time during the week to take his car to get detailed and filled so they could be on their way without a thought. Even though he'd only gotten his car just before Blaine had shown up at his door, it certainly needed a freshening up since he didn't take it out of the garage too often. And when he'd picked it up the day before, he was more than happy with how it turned out.
Once the professor finished and told them they could go, Hunter laughed at how quickly Sebastian managed to get packed up and out of his seat. "Someone might think you're anxious to get out of here." Hunter said as they headed down the steps and towards the doors. "Just don't drive as quick as you're moving as the last thing you want is to get pulled over."
"Trust me, I know. And since my car drives so smooth, I'll probably set the cruise-control once we get on the L.I.E. if traffic is smooth enough. Otherwise, I'll just have to pay close attention to the speedometer." Sebastian told him as they walked. "And feel free to get all the jabs in that you want as I know I'm acting a bit different."
"While I appreciate the free pass, I'm not going to use it as you have all the right in the world to be excited about your little getaway. Things are crazy and it's good to getaway once in awhile. Kimberly and I have done it, so I get it. Sometimes knowing you're in a place where no one can bother you, can help you relax more than you might expect."
"Thank you." Sebastian told him. "It's nice knowing others understand."
"Everyone does. Think, even Jeff is taking Morgan away. And I wouldn't be surprised if at some point Thad takes Rachel away as well should her schedule allow. Do you have anything special planned or are you playing it by ear?"
"I've got a couple of things I want to do, but a lot is going to depend on B."
"Fair enough." Hunter said as they stopped. "This is where we split. Have fun this weekend Sebastian."
"Thank man, you have fun as well!"
"Always!"
After they went their separate ways, Sebastian was thrilled his train trip was quick back to his building as he knew Blaine would be there waiting for him and they'd soon be on their way. When he walked down the hallway, Sebastian smiled as he saw Blaine leaning against the back of the couch with his acoustic cased up against him. Before saying a word, Sebastian leaned down and kissed Blaine while wrapping his arms around him. The kiss was certainly softer than usual which had Blaine moving up on his toes once Sebastian pulled back. "Ready to get going Killer?" Sebastian asked once he cupped Blaine's cheek in his hand.
"I am." Blaine replied. "I see you're set as our bags are at the door."
"We are, though I need to grab one thing first, okay?" Blaine nodded in response, so Sebastian leaned down for another kiss before heading for the office. Once inside, he walked straight to the closet to grab his camera bag that he loaded before heading to Blaine's the previous day. The thought of getting to take more pictures of Blaine certainly made Sebastian happy in ways he didn't expect. Not to mention, he was getting to share one of his favorite places to get away with him. When he came walking back out into the living room, he saw a smile come to Blaine's face. "What?"
"You're bringing your camera."
"You like that?"
"I do, as it lets me know that wherever we're going has some gorgeous scenery."
"And what if I'm only bringing it to take pictures of you."
"That works too." Blaine said as he took one of Sebastian's hands in his. "But, I hope you'll let me use it some so I can take some pictures of you."
"Done. So, we good?"
"Let's get on the road."
During the ride down in the elevator, Blaine kept glancing over at Sebastian who happened to be doing the same. Once they stepped out into the garage, Blaine followed Sebastian's lead as he had no idea what type of car he drove. But once they stopped next to a dark blue, sports sedan Blaine looked up at him. Seeing Blaine's eyes go wide, Sebastian bumped him with his arm before hitting the trunk release on the key fob. "Load your stuff up Killer, because if we don't get on the road soon, traffic is going to suck getting out of here." While he spoke, Sebastian loaded his bags into the trunk and was soon followed by Blaine. "What is it B?"
"This is gorgeous."
"Thank you, I think so too." Sebastian then leaned down to kiss him once again. "Now, get that perfect ass of yours into the passenger seat." Blaine nodded, and then gave Sebastian a kiss before walking to the passenger side of the car. Even though Blaine expected Sebastian to drive a sports car, the one he actually drove fit him well. And Blaine knew enough about cars that he knew this sedan had a ton of power under the hood.
Before they were even out of the garage, Blaine watched Sebastian hit a button on his GPS that said summer home before pulling out into traffic. "Summer home?"
"Yes." Sebastian replied while keeping his eyes on the road. "And before you ask, I know where I'm going but I always put it in, in case there is construction I'm not aware of. Also, even though it reads summer home, it can be used year round."
"Where exactly are we heading as you hit start quickly?"
"You'll soon find out, as you'll be seeing a lot of signs as we drive. Is that okay, or do you want to know where we are heading?"
"I'm good, do you mind if I put some music on?"
"Be my guest Killer."
They were about halfway there when Blaine felt Sebastian's hand on his thigh, causing him to glance over at him. Sebastian turned his head enough for Blaine to see him smile while keeping his eyes on the road. While he'd been curious about where they were going, Blaine had quickly relaxed into the passenger's seat and enjoyed the drive. After they got off the expressway, Blaine began to pay closer attention to where they were and it must've been obvious as Sebastian began to rub his thigh. "I hope we're getting closer Bas."
"Why is that B?"
"I think you know." Blaine replied a he placed his hand on top of Sebastian's. Blaine then looked at Sebastian who was still had his eyes on the road. "Bas?"
"Soon B."
Once they entered Sag Harbor, it wasn't long till Sebastian turned off the main road while still traveling near the waterfront. When he turned into a gravel drive, Blaine shifted in his seat as they made their way down the driveway. The moment Sebastian stopped in front of the home; he turned to look at Blaine who was looking out the window. "This place is gorgeous Bas."
"I'll be sure to tell my parents you think so. Now come on, let's head in side so we can get settled and I can give you a tour." After gathering their bags from the trunk, Sebastian guided Blaine towards the door as he continued to take in their surroundings. Once through the door, Blaine looked around as Sebastian closed it. "You okay B?" Blaine nodded and soon followed Sebastian down the hallway before making a turn. "I thought we'd put our bags down before the tour begins." He continued as he watched Blaine take in their surroundings. The moment they walked through the doorway to Sebastian's bedroom, Sebastian felt Blaine no longer behind him the further he walked. So once he set his things down, he turned to look at Blaine who was just inside the room. "Blaine, what is it?" He asked as he walked closer.
"This…is your room?"
"Yea, my parents told me I was welcome to take the other suite instead of one of the bedrooms upstairs." While he spoke, Sebastian took Blaine's guitar from him and placed it against a chair before taking his hand. "Are you okay?"
"I'm a bit overwhelmed if you can't tell." Blaine told him as Sebastian guided him further into the room. "And this room is so different from your place in the city."
"Well, considering we're on the water, something a bit more relaxed seemed fitting. The whole house has a similar vibe to it."
"So I noticed." Blaine said as he set his bag beside the dresser. "I guess this isn't what I expected, though I'm not sure what I expected."
"Would you have rather we gone to a B & B like Jeff and Morgan did?"
"No."
"Good, as I've wanted to share this place with you. I spent most of my summers out here during my first four years at college when I wasn't abroad." Sebastian told him as he sat down on the edge of the bed which split the space into two separate ones as it was in the middle of the room. "It's my quiet place." He then pulled Blaine a bit closer till he was standing between his legs. "Now, what would you like to do?"
"Do I get options?" Blaine asked as he looked at Sebastian who was looking up at him.
"Well, at some point you'll probably want a tour." Sebastian said with a smile and Blaine nodded. "Since we didn't stop at the store, we're going to be going out to eat tonight, so we can see the area if you want."
"What do you usually do when you're here?"
"Honestly?"
"Yes."
"I swim, read, or relax. Though, I am known to go exploring off the property so I can indulge my photography feels. Also, I take the boat out on the water."
"Boat?"
"Yes, it's docked at the marina since my parents wanted someone looking after it since we're not out here much. Though, I have begun making good use of this place over the years. And before you ask where I swim, there is a pool as I mentioned earlier."
"How about we get settled then go grab dinner as I'm a bit hungry, and then afterwards you show me around town."
"Sounds good to me. Anything in mind once we come back here?"
"Moonlight dip in the pool."
"Perfect." After Sebastian spoke, Blaine leaned down and kissed him before they started to get settled so they could head on their way.
While Blaine and Sebastian were getting ready to enjoy their weekend, Rachel was fretting about the loft as she had no idea what she was going to be wearing that night to dinner. After calling out loudly to Santana, Rachel flopped back on her bed and stared up at the ceiling. When Santana came walking in, she walked up to the far side so she could stare down at her. "You called." Santana said rather playfully as she looked at her. "What do you need?"
"I have no clue what I'm going to wear to dinner tonight." Rachel told her as Santana sat down on the edge of the bed. "Nothing I've pulled out, I've wanted to wear." She then glanced over at the clock before putting her hands over her face. "Why is this happening to me?" The frustration was evident in her voice so Santana reached over and moved her hands then tilted her head so Rachel was looking at her.
"Do you know where Thad is taking you to celebrate?" Rachel shook her head in response. "Okay, what do you know?"
"Just that he said to dress nice, but not formal." Rachel replied. "Why is it tonight of all nights I can't figure out what to wear?"
"I don't know." Santana told her. "But, between the two of us we can figure something out as we still have a bit of time till you have to hop in the shower. Are you sure there is nothing in your closet?" Rachel nodded. "Okay, since we don't have time to go shopping…how about you wear one of my dresses?" When Rachel cocked an eyebrow, Santana couldn't stop herself from smiling. "Come now, you've gained quite a bit of confidence Rach, you could rock quite a few of them. And well, I'm sure Thad wouldn't mind. So, how about you go and get your butt in the shower and I'll go and grab a few dresses that I think would look good on you."
"Thank you." Rachel said in response as she sat up.
"Don't mention it. Now go get your ass in the shower." Rachel nodded before hopping up off the bed and heading for the bathroom. Once she was gone, Santana got up and headed for her room to go and find a few dresses for Rachel. The fact that Rachel was more than willing to wear something of hers proved how much confidence she'd gained and how comfortable she was with Thad. Since it was a celebratory dinner, Santana knew she needed to find something rather classy, but that didn't mean it couldn't have some sex appeal as well. And with little comments Rachel had made to her, Santana believed that Rachel wouldn't mind wearing something a bit sexy for Thad.
By the time Rachel was done with her shower, Santana had four dresses laid out on the bed and was sitting on the chair waiting for her. Once she was back in her room, Rachel looked at the four dresses before looking at Santana. "Thank you."
"Don't mention it." Santana told her as she got up from the chair. "I was about to check on you considering how long you were in there." The look on Santana's face as she spoke had Rachel smiling. "I see, so that's why it took longer."
"I have no idea what you're referring to." The playful tone in Rachel's response let Santana know Rachel knew precisely what Santana was talking about and wasn't arguing the point. "These are all gorgeous Santana."
"Thank you. Now personally, I think you should wear the dark blue one." Santana said as she held it up in front of her. "I think it would look great on you, but obviously the final choice is yours." Rachel smiled before turning to open the top drawer of her dresser. "I'm going to let you get dressed but if you need anything, just holler once again."
"I will." After Santana walked out of the room, Rachel smiled as she looked at the dresses in front of her. While she knew she easily could've asked Santana to borrow one, she didn't necessarily want to announce her plans for that evening. And in asking Santana for one of her dresses that were clearly sexier than anything she owned, Santana was smart enough to figure things out from there. So she opted for getting frustrated, knowing Santana would be willing to help since she approved of Rachel's relationship with Thad. Considering the dress choices, Rachel was going to go with the blue that Santana recommended though she loved them all. But blue was Thad's favorite color and it complimented what she'd bought the day before.
Since Santana was getting ready to leave for work as it always took longer to get there on a Friday, she called out to Rachel as she walked towards her room. When Rachel told her to come on in, Santana walked right in and her jaw dropped once she set eyes on Rachel. "You look beautiful Rachel." She told her as she walked closer. "Thad's going to be blown away."
"Thank you, not just for the compliment, but the dress." As she spoke, Rachel looked into the mirror as she'd just put her heels on. "I don't know how to thank you."
"Enjoy yourself, that's all the thanks I need. But feel free to tell Thad the dress is mine so he can thank me later." She'd barely finished and the two laughed. "It's true as he's not going to be able to take his eyes off of you." Rachel then looked at her. "That's not what I meant Rachel and you know it. He normally can't, but no doubt he's going to appreciate that bit of cleavage you're showing." When Rachel blushed, Santana came up behind her so they could see each other in the mirror. "It's true and you know it." When Rachel smiled, Santana did as well. "Nice to see you admitting it." Rachel then ran her fingers through the loose curls that were draped over her shoulder. "Now, do you need anything else before I go?"
"No, I think I'm good. And Thad should be here soon."
"Alright, well you two enjoy yourselves tonight and don't do anything I wouldn't do."
"So, anything goes then." Rachel said with a smile.
"Yes." Santana told her before giving her a hug, careful not to mess with her hair or wrinkle her dress. "I want to hear all about this fabulous date in the morning."
"That can be arranged. Have fun tonight."
"I should as Friday nights are always full of the unexpected." Rachel smiled before the two said their goodbyes and Santana was on her way. Yet, soon Rachel heard Santana call out for her as when she opened the loft door Thad was standing there about to knock. So after letting Rachel know Thad was there, the two exchanged a few words as Santana needed to be on her way.
Once Thad closed the door, he made his way further in and was soon met by Rachel who came walking out of her room. Much as Santana had stated, from the moment Thad laid eyes on her, he couldn't look away. "You look beautiful Rach." Thad told her before giving her a kiss.
"Thank you. You look quite handsome yourself." She told him as he was wearing a black suit with a soft gray shirt and striped tie.
"I appreciate that." Thad replied before sliding one of his arms around her. "Are you ready to go?"
"I just need my coat as it was a bit chilly out when I was out earlier."
"Yea, you'll definitely need one with that dress." He said with a smile that wasn't completely innocent. And there was no doubt in Rachel's mind that Santana was right about what he'd think as he hadn't taken his eyes off of her. "I'll go and get it. Which one would you like as you have a few?"
"It's a dark pink swing coat."
"Got it." Thad then gave her a soft kiss on the lips before going to go get it. Once he headed for her room, Thad took a deep breath to rein in how he was feeling in that moment. The last thing he wanted was his mind start wandering with the images that were starting to take hold. While their relationship was certainly progressing, he wasn't going to get ahead of himself even if that meant taking more cold showers till Rachel was ready for things to go farther.
Thad had just draped Rachel's coat over his arm when he felt his phone vibrate in his jacket pocket. After stopping in his tracks, he pulled his phone out and swiped across the screen to read the text. It didn't surprise him in the slightest to see something less than innocent from Hunter who he'd been with earlier that day. With everything that had been going on with Blaine and Sebastian, Thad had gone to Hunter to talk knowing Blaine and Sebastian needed this weekend to themselves. While Hunter was rather direct, he also was quite understanding, which would surprise a lot of people. Yet, that didn't stop him from teasing those close to him. And considering the personalities of those closest to him, they expected it. If he didn't, in a way it was clear he didn't approve of the choices they were making.
When Thad came back into the room shaking his head, Rachel tilted her head to the side before Thad helped her on with her coat. "What is it?" She asked as she began to button her coat.
"Just Hunter trying to be funny."
"Did he succeed…" Rachel asked as Thad took her hand before walking to the door. "…or fall flat?"
"He succeeded if you understand his humor."
"Is that your way of saying you're not going to tell me what he said?"
"No, but I'm not telling you what he said, regardless. It wasn't necessarily a comment for mixed company." Thad said to her before opening the door as Rachel shook her head. "The fact that Kimberly understands him as well as she does, he's lucky."
"I think she's just what he needs." Rachel replied before locking the door. "He needs a woman strong enough to go toe to toe with him and she can."
"No doubt about that." Thad said as they headed for the elevator as there was no way Rachel was going to do the stairs in the heels she was wearing. "Besides the fact that she's beautiful, her confidence is the main thing that attracted Hunter to her. Hunter wants a woman that can keep up with him in every aspect of his life." Once the words left him, Thad noticed Rachel looking at him. "Yes, I meant every aspect Rach."
"Do you mind if I ask you something?" Thad shook his head in response just before the elevator doors opened and they headed out. "How much do you guys talk?" The intonation in her voice left no doubt to what she was referring to.
"Enough, but we don't really get into details as certain things stay private. From talking with my sister, girls clearly talk more openly about things than guys do."
"You talk about that with your sister?" Rachel asked as Thad hailed a cab for them.
"There isn't much the two of us don't talk about." Thad replied before opening the door of the cab so Rachel could get in. Then once they were settled after Thad told the cabbie their destination, he continued. "While she lets it be known she's the older sister, I've always been able to talk to her about anything."
"And your brother?"
"He's quite shy which is hard to believe at times coming from our family." Thad told her as he took her hand in his. "I was rather happy that David was going to school at Harvard as there was someone that could look out for him. And get him to go out and enjoy the college experience."
"He's that shy?"
"He's opened up a bit since being at school, but yea, he's that shy. We're polar opposites when it comes to personality." When Rachel looked at him, Thad laughed softly. "Hey, you're the one dating me so what does that say about you?"
"I never said it was a bad thing." Rachel said. "I'm just trying to get an image of him in my head."
"Well, depending on things I'm sure you'll get to meet both of my siblings. Though, you'll probably meet my sister first as she's more likely to come into the city than he is. But one never knows." Thad then leaned over and kissed her on the cheek. "So, are you ready to celebrate?"
"I am, in every possible way." Thad looked at Rachel who smiled up at him as that was not the type of answer he was expecting. And considering this was a night about her, he wasn't going to let his mind get ahead of itself.
