Don't know if anyone is seeing this, but if you are then thank you for being patient. I decided to add an actual situation here so let me know what you think and I hope you like. Enjoy!
"Whew, it's so hot out here." May commented.
"Its just the humidity of this area." Leaf explained, "Let's hurry or we'll run out of time and won't beat the guys to the end of the Safari Zone." May nodded and treaded on. It was only yesterday that they had arrived to Fuchsia City and rested at the Pokémon Center. Earlier today when they woke up, Red and Leaf had challenged the gym and won without breaking a sweat, but also had their Pokémon evolve. Red's Charmeleon was now a Charizard and Leaf's Ivysuar was now a Venasuar. After challenging the gym, Leaf had suggested that they visit the Safari Zone, but when they got there, Brendan suggested that they turn their visit into a competition after learning that if you make it to the end you receive a prize. May suggested a competition between genders as a way to spend time with her friend, but she had another motive in mind…
"May?" Leaf called out as they walked, "Does't it hurt?"
"Huh?" May replied with confusion before feeling pain between her neck and shoulder. She tried to see what the cause was and found it using the corner of her eyes, Zubat had bitten into her. It wasn't that he did it on purpose, but May had quickly gotten used to the fact that Zubat nibbled on her skin to show his affection frequently, that she would forget or not even notice until his teeth bit through her skin. "Zubat, cut it out." She said as she grabbed him with one of her free hands, but only managed to change his teeth's course to her hand. "He's a handful, but I've gotten used to it." May replied, "Hey, what do you and Red plan to do? I mean, you're both going to challenge the Champion and the Elite Four, but what if you both succeed?" Leaf paused in her tracks, May's question burying itself deep into her mind.
"I….I don't know…." She replied, "I was actually planning on traveling to another region with him…like you and Brendan did…but…now that you've asked me that…"
"Leaf, I didn't mean to trouble you-"
"I know…but…you have a point…" Leaf interrupted, "What if we both beat the Elite Four, what if one of us beats the champion? …I guess what really worries me, is that Red might accomplish that, then give it all to me…"
"What do you mean?" May asked.
"Red really cares about me," Leaf explained, "If he were to become champion, what are the chances that he would end up letting me beat him just to give me the Champion's title? I don't want to have that given to me, even from Red. I don't want him to give up an opportunity like that." May watched Leaf thoughtfully, remembering a similar situation she had with Brendan.

"You did it Brendan!" May cheered as she gave him a hug. They paused in that position in the middle of the Champion's room with her father, Professor Birch, and the now former champion, Wallace.
"So May," Brendan spoke as he broke the hug, "you ready to challenge me?" May paused, looking to her father, then Wallace, and back to Brendan as he waited patiently for an answer before she shook her head.
"I think I'm better off as a Coordinator." She replied with a smile,
"You sure?" he asked before joking by saying, "I'll take it easy on you if you want." May giggled but shook her head again.
"I'm sure Brendan." she replied, "Now go celebrate your victory, but keep training. You never know if I might just change my mind someday."
"I'll be waiting for that day, May." Brendan replied.

'I remember watching him follow my father to get recorded into the Hall of Fame.' May thought to herself, 'I really did want to battle him for the title someday, even now I want to…if I failed, at least I tried…but then…he told me he was going to visit Jhoto and…it's like it never really mattered. He doesn't brag about the title, let alone even bring it up or show that he obtained it. I wonder if he forgot I wanted to challenge him, though now it would probably be just for fun….if he did or didn't, it's because he cares about me.' May placed her hand on Leaf's shoulder, "He'll know what to do, and so will you if it turned the other way around. You guys care about each other too much to let something small like that make a scratch on what you have with him." Leaf smiled at her words and nodded.
"You're right May, thanks." She replied.

"Hey Red," Brendan called out as he placed his hand on Red's shoulder, stopping Red, "I need to ask you about something."
"What is it?" Red asked.
"…what are you going to do if you become champion before Leaf?" Brendan asked, "You're both aiming for that title, will you have her challenge you, or will you give her the title?" Red covered his eyes with his hand and supported it with his free hand in a form of thought.
"…If it comes to that…I'm not holding back." Red replied with a smile as he removed his hand from his face, "I love Leaf, and if it were the other way around I'm sure she would do the same. Leaf wouldn't want something like this I handed to her, I would only hurt her if I did."
"Is that so…" Brendan thought out loud, "Guess you're right…I nearly made that mistake."
"Huh?"
"Red, in my region I am the champion." Brendan explained, "The day I became champion, I expected May to challenge me and I jokingly offered to go easy on her, but she refused and said that she was better as a Coordinator. I didn't believe it, especially when she told me to keep training in case she changed her mind. I was already thinking of giving her some leeway if and when she challenged me, but you made a great point, I would only hurt her if I didn't go all out." Red chuckled as he placed an arm on Brendan's shoulder.
"Here to support." He said with a firm reassuring nod before they continued their way.

"Pichu pi!" Pichu cried out as Leaf and May reached a clearing with a building in the middle.
"There it is!" Leaf exclaimed.
"And no guys in sight." May added as they picked up the pace, but their victory was short lived as they saw the guys come out from behind the building.
Red and Leaf were the first to react as the made a dash for the door. Leaf saw how much closer Red was and pushed her body as much as she could before diving with her hand outstretched while Red did the same from the side of the building, both followed by their friends. Just as Red's hand was about to grab the door knob, Leaf's hand made contact first so Red only grabbed her hand…unfortunately they both hit the ground afterwards, facedown, causing May and Brendan to trip over them and fall as they tried to slowdown.
"We win!" Leaf cheered with her fist in the air while they were still face down. Red pushed himself onto his feet then helped Leaf. Leaf thanked him and reached for the door when it opened on its own and revealed…nothing.
"What the hell?" Brendan asked, "Its empty!" The four of them walked into the building, taking note that there were spider webs all over the place, a bit of moss was on the walls, and some old computers and servers.
"Didn't they say to get to the end?" May asked. Leaf neared a desk and noticed a paper that was covered in dust. She blew the dust off and red the paper as she turned to the others.
"'Memo, to all employees,'" she read, "'the Safari Zone cabin will be moved further in due to a low supply of rewards from visitors arriving too easily. The cabin will be located two-hundred meters deeper in the Safari Zone.' …this is dated four years ago!"
"Well," May sighed, "guess we should get moving."
"Wait, shouldn't it be within sight if its two-hundred meters deeper in the safari zone?" Red asked as he looked out the window.
"You're right…you know what else?" Brendan asked.
"What?" May asked fearfully.
"It's literally nighttime." He replied.
'Huh…how'd I miss that?' Red thought to himself.
"What the hell!? It was sunny out there five minutes ago!" May shouted before Red groaned.
"I think I know what happened." He sighed as he neared a wall and hit it with the bottom of his fist, "I know you're hiding there." Haunter fazed through the wall, laughing. "I'm thinking Haunter used Hypnosis when we dove for the door?" Haunter nodded.
"I, hate, your, Haunter, right now!" May grumbled.
"Shouldn't have the employees warned us?" Leaf asked, "Aren't they supposed to be monitoring us?"
"We might be in a blind spot since this area's not being used." Red replied before a window shattered and Zubat came in screeching and biting at May.
"Hey! Ok, I'm sorry!" She cried out before she grabbed it and hugged it close, "It was Red's Haunter. It was his fault I left you out there, I won't do it again." Zubat simply bit her arm affectionately.
"Alright, we may as well get going." Brendan said as he walked back to the door only for the door to refuse to open, "What the-?"
"What's wrong?" Leaf asked.
"It's locked!" Brendan replied.
"But it was open when we came in!" May exclaimed before something blocked the windows and the darkness swallowed them.
