Feeling kind of slow due to the fact that I'm failing one of my classes...so I thought I'd cheer myself up by adding another chapter in the small spare time I had. I feel like I'm losing my touch, but the story still feels about right...I hope. I've also noticed that some of my chapters have been getting shorter...sorry about that, I'll try to make them my usual average again. Oh and I apologize in advance for any errors or misspellings, I've noticed them popping out in some earlier stories and chapters. Oh and I'll get to who locked them in that building on the next chap. "OH GOD, OH GOD, WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED!?" May shouted as she slammed herself against any possible exit, to no avail, "LET US OUT!"
"This your doing?" Red asked his Haunter, but Haunter shook his head and shrugged.
"Guys, a light!" May cried out, "I-I can't see, get a light!" Brendan quickly found her and embraced her as Leaf pulled out a few glow sticks before Red sent out Charizard.
"It'd be safer to use these." She said to him and he nodded in agreement as she snapped them on to reveal a hyperventilating May in Brendan's arms.
"You ok?" Brendan asked May as her breathing slowed.
"Y-yeah." She replied with a nervous laugh, "I was just caught by surprise and panicked."
"No kidding, I nearly did the same." Brendan replied as he looked at Red who was inspecting the exits.
"Haunter, see if you can get whatever's blocking the exits." Red commanded and Haunter vanished through the wall.
"Why not just break us out with a bigger Pokemon?" Brendan asked.
"This building is pretty old," Leaf explained, "We don't want to risk having it collapse in on us." Haunter came back in as she finished and lifted his claws in a shrugging motion.
"Come on, you've got to be able to break whatever's blocking the door!" Brendan exclaimed as Red thought of a plan
"I think we could get through, we could use the desks as cover in case the roof caves in while Haunter destroys the door." He suggested.
"Better than sitting around." May replied as she pulled Brendan under a desk while Red did the same with Leaf and shielded her with his own body as well.
"Go ahead Haunter!" Red commanded and Haunter used Shadow Ball to obliterate the door, the shockwave casing the old building to tremble and cave in on itself. The dust cleared and silence took over for a minute or two before Red managed to pull himself, and Leaf, out safely.
"Thank you, Red." Leaf said as he pulled her out and hugged her, "Wait, where are May and Brendan?"
"Medic!" Brendan cried out from under the rubble with his hand sticking out of it. Red and Leaf quickly ran over to them and began to remove the rubble and pulled Brendan out, along with an unconscious May, "She's still breathing ok…May! May, wake up!"
"What happened?" Red asked.
"The desk collapsed on us when a beam came down on it and hit May in the head!" Brendan replied before May began to open her eyes.
"Where am I?" she asked before Brendan hugged her.
"Thank god you're ok, May!" he said. Leaf noticed that May had a confused look on her face before she pushed Brendan away.
"Back off!" She snapped, "Who the hell do you think you are!? My boyfriend!?" Brendan stared at her in shock, along with Red and Leaf as May got up and examined her surroundings, "Who the hell are you and where am I!?" she asked.
"May…its me, Brendan!" he replied trying to through to her.
"I've never seen you before!" May replied before Red approached her and examined the back of her head, "Hey, hands o-"
"Hang on…you've got a cut back here." Red replied as May stood still looking rather nervous, "That beam that his you must've given you amnesia."
"That explains her reaction, do you recognize either of us?" Leaf asked. May looked at Leaf and shook her head, but refused to look at Red for more than an instant.
"U-umm…he's…k-kind of familiar." May replied, shocking the others.
"Oh come on! What the hell Red!?" Brendan shouted with fury, "She remembers you and not me, her boyfriend!?" may looked back and forth between Red and Brendan, confused.
"Hey don't look at me, I don't understand what's going on either!" Red replied with his hands in front of him as if surrendering.
Brendan took a deep breath and calmed before nodding and turning to May, "There's got to be something that can make you remember. I really don't look familiar to you?"
"…sorry." May replied with a shrug, "I don't feel comfortable with the idea of thinking you're my boyfriend either." Brendan fell back onto the ground as if he received a punch on his chest.
"Wait, what if we tell her some of the things that have happened, maybe she'll remember something!" Leaf suggested before Brendan's backpack began to jump. He turned and opened it to reveal Zubat and Pichu inside and looking rather angry. Pichu head butted Brendan and Zubat simply flew out before charging in towards May who started to run in circles, trying to get away.
"What the hell!? Get this Zubat off of-…Zubat?" she asked herself as she paused, causing Zubat to slam into her back and fall to the ground. May quickly picked him up and hugged him, "I remember you! You little devil!" She cried out before Zubat began to nibble at her arm. Brendan was at a tree, leaning on it with one arm and his head down.
"Even the Zubat gets more importance." He cried as Red patted his back.
"May, why don't you tell us what you do remember first?" Leaf suggested. May nodded in agreement before the four of them (six with Zubat and Pichu, Red had already retreated Haunter) took a seat on the grass, Brendan took the time to tend to the small cut on the back of May's head.
"Umm…thanks…" She said as Brendan took as seat next to her, "Ok…well…I know my name…I remember Zubat…and…I remember having a conversation with Red about…girlfriends…wait, are you two timing!?"
"AS IF!" Leaf snapped furiously and nearly launching herself at May, causing the others to stare in shock, "I-I'm sorry." Red simply chuckled and hugged her close.
"When you and I met, I didn't utter a word and you asked if I spoke only to a special someone." Red explained.
"Ohh…I remember now." May replied, "Sorry about that…umm…Leaf, was it?" Leaf nodded, but still looked embarrassed by her outburst earlier. "Wait…I was searching for someone…that day…" Brendan was waving his arms, hoping it would help her remember and refused to tell her out right in fear that it would only distance her more. "Damnit, I can't remember!" The situation was breaking Brendan.
"May, please! It was me you were looking for!" he said as May looked at him in confusion, "I was playing a prank on you and we got separated!"
"Jesus, what kind of boyfriend are you?" May asked, Brendan was on the verge of dying from this, "That doesn't sound like someone I would go out with. Maybe its best if you find someone else…." Red heard something snap and Brendan's arms went limp.
"B-…but…May…" he pleaded hopelessly. May slowly moved away from him and Brendan watched in disbelief as she got up. He quickly got up and grabbed her hand, refusing to let go, "No, I don't care what you say, I'm not letting you go!" He quickly pulled her to him and hugged her tightly, crying as he did and May could only stand there with a look of guilt.
"Umm…Br-…Brendan? Look, I'm sorry," she said as she slowly freed herself from the broken boy. Red and Leaf couldn't believe what they were seeing, "you seem like a really nice guy, but I just don't see it." She began to back away and Brendan pulled off his hat in defeat before letting it drop and May paused, "…that was a hat?" she asked and Brendan nodded.
"P-people always think I have white hair when I have it on." He replied weakly. May looked somewhere between daydreaming and the thousand yard stare. Memories of her adventure in Hoenn with him and her time here in Kanto with him, the night he kissed her deeply for almost no apparent reason in Saffron City. She suddenly gasped and launched herself at Brendan.
"Brendan! Brendan, Brendan, Brendan! I'm sorry!" she cried as she latched onto him. Brendan didn't waste any time in wrapping his arms around her tightly, "I remember now! Our time in Hoenn, the kiss in Saffron, the day you asked me out in Jhoto! I'm so sorry Brendan!"
"It's ok May!" Brendan replied as they cried in each other's arms, "It's ok. I love you May."
"I love you to Brendan!" She sobbed. Red and Leaf watched with smiles as they kissed.
"Thank goodness." Leaf said with a sigh of relief and a hand over her heart as Red hugged her close with one arm.
"At least she remembers him. Now it's just a matter of time before she remembers everything else." Red added as the Hoenn couple approached.
"So, what were we doing here in the first place?" May asked before Pichu climbed up onto her shoulder, "And where'd you get this cute little guy?" she asked before Pichu head butted her and jumped off, "Oh now I remember you, you little…" she gumbled before chasing after him, "GET BACK HERE!"
"Pichu Pi!" Pichu cried out cheerfully as he dodged May.
