#31 Dance with me Again
"I'm hungry." John Venturi moaned to his parents. "You're always hungry." his twin sister Rebecca reminded him, and John just snorted in reply. "I'm quite hungry myself." Derek Venturi stated as he looked at John understandingly. Casey McDonald-Venturi smiled good naturedly, her boys and their constant hunger. "Okay, let's head out then. Tonight was Rebecca's turn to decide where we are eating so what will it be?" Casey asked, turning to her teenage daughter. "Joe's Food Dancing Good House." She replied, and Casey nodded. "That's close to our hotel. Let's go." Derek said, herding everyone out of their hotel room.
The family decided to go on an end of summer vacation and flew down to America to a theme park for a week. The family headed to their rental car, and drove to the restaurant, Casey giving him directions the whole ride.
About ten minutes later, the Venturi clan reached the restaurant. They headed inside and were quickly seated at a table. The restaurant was huge: the lights were dim, the place was sleek, good music was playing, but the best part of the whole place was the giant dance floor in the middle of the place. There were many people already on the dance floor, laughing, jumping, dancing, and just having fun. "That looks fun." Casey commented as she looked through the menu." Rebecca's eyes sparkled and she replied enthusiastically, "Yeah doesn't it? That's why I picked this place." Casey smiled, Rebecca had the same love and talent for dance that she had. "We're gonna eat first though, right?" John asked. Casey chuckled softly, "Yes don't worry, you'll get your food.
A short while later, the food arrived and everyone, but especially Derek and John, digged right in. Although she was eating and enjoying her food, Rebecca could not stop looking at the dance floor. Derek nudged Casey in the side, "Hey remember when we did that dance routine together on TV in high school." Casey smiled, remembering that joyful time, and nodded. "Well since there is a dance floor, we owe it to our high school selves to dance again." He suggested with a smile, watching Casey's face quickly light up with excitement. "Ok c'mon," He said, standing up and taking her hand.
"Wait, Dad, you're going to dance?" John asked in disbelief, and Rebecca looked equally as shocked. "Yeah, your old man used to be known as 'Crazy Legs'." Casey said. " You two should both get out there too. Now if you kids will excuse us, I have to dance with my lady." Derek said, taking Casey and pulling her to the dance floor. Rebecca smiled; she thought her parents were so cute, while John was just grossed out.
On the floor Casey and Derek were delighted when their song came on. Derek took Casey's hands and pulled her close. The two swayed together, soaking in each other's embrace. "This is so nice." Casey murmured into Derek's neck, nuzzling him affectionately. Derek smiled and kissed her forehead, then he spun her around gently. When she finished her turn, she grabbed his face and planted a big kiss to his lips, then returned to her original, close position. "Wow." Derek said with a sigh, and Casey leaned her head up and looked at him questioningly. "It's just that it's amazing that after all these years together, you still take my breath away." Derek said somewhat shyly, and Casey pecked him on the cheek. "You still take my breath away," she whispered. The two then continued dancing like they were the only two in the world.
Back at the table, Rebecca was looking at he parents all dreamy eyed, she hoped for that relationship one day. The slow song suddenly ended, and then the music hyped up, and Rebecca quickly realized that her favorite song was on. She stood up quickly, eager to take the dance floor. She looked at John who was still seated, "You coming?" She asked, and he looked taken aback. "Uh you know I-I can't dance." John said uncomfortably. "It's okay, I'll show you, besides, no one knows us here." Rebecca said reassuringly. She offered her hand to him and he gave her a slight smile, accepting her hand and letting her drag him to the dance floor.
Once they reached the dance floor, they were quickly greeted by their parents. The family danced around together and had a splendid time, they stayed there dancing all the way to closing time.
