#34 Bucket List

Casey walked slowly out of the church, her hand tightly clutching Derek's. She was still in shock. She was still trying to process the fact that they were at a funeral for someone they had graduated high school with no less than 5 years earlier. He had died in an automobile accident, at the mere age of 23 years old. Casey thought that it was devastating for someone that young to be taken away before they had a real chance to live.

On the car ride, Derek noticed Casey being uncharacteristically quiet. He nudged her gently with his arm. "Case, are you okay?" He asked. She ran a hand through her hair, "No." She replied. "What's wrong? I didn't know you were so close to Josh?" He asked concerned. "Well it's sad that he passed away, but that's not the reason I'm upset." "Then why are you upset?" She sighed, "It's just devastating how young he was. He was just starting his life. And it's made me think, what have I done with my life?" She said quietly. "What are you talking about? You've done a lot of things." Derek said, trying to assure her. "No I haven't! All I've done was going to college! I want to do more, like I've used my life wisely!" She said excitedly. "Babe.." Derek said, sighing, as he knew Casey was going to obsess over this. At this point Casey was off in her own world, overthinking things as usual.

The next morning..

Derek blindly reached his arm over to Casey's side of the bed, trying to cuddle with her. To his surprise, he found her side empty, which Derek thought was strange because he knew she didn't have work today. He got up slowly, yawning and scratching his head tiredly. He walked out of their bedroom and into the living room to find Casey furiously typing away on her laptop. He slid behind her, wrapping his legs around her body.

"What are you doing?" Derek asked as he rested his chin on her shoulder. "Making my bucket list." She replied simply. Derek's eyes scanned the list quickly, and found somethings he knew would be on there and other things that completely surprised him. "A belly button piercing, huh?" Derek asked with a smirk. "Hot." He whispered, pressing a kiss to her ear, and she giggled, "Oh be quiet, what do you think about #5?" She asked, leaning her head back towards him. He scanned his eyes to #5 which read, "Get Married". "Eh." He replied casually, and she quickly glared at him. "What do you mean ehh?!" She demanded. "Well Bucket Lists are usually crazy wishes, and #5, well, its an inevitability." He replied, then getting himself up, walking away, leaving a very excited Casey behind with her thoughts.
