Derek had done a lot of stupid things to Casey. Pranks, jokes, insults, but all in good sense. He would never do anything to hurt Casey, even before they started dating. Casey accepted the nonsense with an open mind. She loved Derek and knew that deep down he was a huge softy, until it happened.

Derek was a hockey player, a good one. He was the starting offense on the Canadians (don't own), and always played. He was sponsored, endorsed, idolized by everyone, even those who rooted for a different team. His charisma, humor, and personality won the hearts of everyone, and Casey couldn't be happier for him.

He was traveling a lot with his team, playing games, and Casey occasionally came on the road. She always went to home games, and she noticed girls fawning over him, wearing his jersey, making signs, but she didn't think much about it.

It was a trip over in the States, and Casey couldn't come. She had a big meeting at work she couldn't miss. Sadly, she drove him to the airport and headed home alone. That night she got a call saying her boss came down with the flu and the meeting was rescheduled to next week. Casey was thrilled and immediately bought a ticket, planning to surprise her boyfriend. When she arrived at his hotel, she was bursting with excitement, until she walked into the lobby, and saw Derek's lips on some other girl's. She froze, it felt as if her whole world stopped but started spinning at 100 mph. She walked up to the two, who had yet to notice her until she loudly cleared her throat. The two broke apart, and Derek's face immediately blanched.

After a moment of staring Derek finally managed, "Casey, w-what are you doing here?" He asked standing up. "My meeting got cancelled, I thought I'd come down and surprise you." She replied stiffly, crossing her arms, "But it looks like you didn't need me here." She finished. She turned and quickly walked away, Derek trailing close behind. "Casey wait! Please!" Derek called, soon catching up to her. "Casey I am so sorry. I can't believe that happened. She was a big fan and she came over to me and started complimenting me and was getting closer and closer and then it just happened and we kissed. This has never happened before and will never happen again I promise. I'm so sorry." Derek said, grabbing her small eyes with a sincere look on his face. She looked up at him with a frown and anger in her eyes, "Why did you have to kiss her? How could you do that?" She asked angrily. "I was bummed you couldn't come with us, and she was just so forward and was really complimenting me and my ego reared its head and it just happened so quickly. I'm sorry, please forgive me Case." He said, looking straight into her eyes. "And it will never happen again?" She asked, and he nodded quickly, she sighed but she knew she would give him another chance, she loved him.

Months had gone by since the incident and things were back to normal. Neither of them had mentioned the incident and didn't plan to.

Casey thought that was a one time mistake of the past..

Casey had to travel for work to a conference and was gone for a few days. Derek had a few home games and had to stay home. They skyped and called every night. The conference finished early, and Casey was soon on her way home. She decided to just head home without calling Derek because she figured he'd be home anyway. When she got home she found the living room empty, she was surprised but was too tired to care. She headed to the bedroom to get dressed in her pajamas and head to bed. As she headed to the bedroom, she heard noises. Slowly, she proceeded to open the bedroom door. As she opened her eyes, she heard a shriek. A girl she had never seen before and Derek looked up at her. The girl quickly looked at Derek, "You have a girlfriend?" She asked angrily, she got up quickly, throwing on her dress and grabbing her bra. "Pig!" She yelled at him, and gave Casey a sympathetic pat as left.

That left the two of them. Casey looked at him expectantly. Derek quickly got up and got dressed. "Well?" She asked angrily. "Casey I can explain." He started, when Casey held up her palm, "Save it. I'm doing some talking now. How could you cheat on me again?! I forgave you for the last time, I was starting to trust you again and you just took my trust and ran with it. How could you do this to me?" She asked, her anger soon dissolving to hurt. "Casey," he went to reach out for her hands, and she yanked them away. "I never meant to hurt you." He continued. "Well you did. What happened to us? Am I not enough?" She asked her voice wobbling. "No, you are perfect. I just lost it twice and I never meant to do it. I'll never do it again, I promise, we'll be okay, you are not at fault." He replied. "Please don't hate me. Give me another chance." He begged, "That's the awful part. I don't hate you, I love you! Look what I've become, this woman who forgives someone who cheats on her and still stays with him! I've become what I swore I never would." Tears were now streaming down her face, and Derek wiped her tears away with his thumb. "I can't do this anymore. I'm done." She said quietly, and with that she left the bedroom and left, ready to start learning about herself again.
