A/N: Hey guys! Here's the next chapter, hope y'all like it! Sorry i didn't update the last couple days, I've been working on an fb story called "Avengers love facebook" so if anyone is interested, feel free to check that out :)

Emily was still on the phone talking with Steve when Coulson came in with a change of clothes with her, having listened to Steve ranting for a little over two hours.

"How bad is it?" He asked, stopping his rant for long enough to allow Emily to respond, worry in his tone.

"Not as bad as it was when it first happened. She's going to live but we don't know when she'll wake up."

Silence on the other end of the line.

"I shouldn't have let her go. I've lost so much already, your sister is all I really have and I can't lose her too."

Emily sighed, "You won't and I don't want you to blame yourself either. Coulson is already blaming himself for breaking his promise."

"It isn't his fault. Sometimes promises are meant to be broken."

"I'll pass along the message. I should go though, I think Coulson and May want my side of the story so to speak."

"Alright. Call me when you get more information."

Emily nodded, briefly forgetting that he couldn't see her.

"Will do. Bye." She said, not giving him a chance to reply before she hung up unaware Coulson had entered until he spoke.

"How'd he take it?" Coulson asked, making Emily jump.

"Jesus! Scare me to death, why don't you? But to answer your question, he's worried; but he's not mad at you because he knew something like this could happen."

Coulson nodded, "And what did you tell him about Barnes?" He asked, setting the clothes down on the cold, metal counter beside her as he took his phone back from Emily, who sighed.

"Yeah, about that..."

Coulson sighed, "What did you do, Emily?"

Emily rubbed the back of her neck and looked away, not meeting the agents stern gaze.

"I may not have mentioned that Barnes was involved. Don't give me that look, I didn't think he needed to know that little tid bit. He'd have a heart attack if he was told that." She explained, turning away from him and taking off her blood stained clothes, replacing them with a red, tight fitting shirt and black leggings, not even caring that Coulson was in the room as he politely turned his gaze away and sighed.

She does have a point. He thought, giving a soft smile before he left the lab and returned to the small room to relieve Grant of his "post".

Grant walked up to the main area to find Skye sitting at one of the tables.

"I thought I told you to go get some sleep?" He asked, giving her a disapproving look as he sat down across from her.

Skye shrugged and looked out the small window before she looked over at Grant.

"Can't sleep."

Grant raised an eye brow at her, "Anxious?"

Skye nodded, looking at Grant with confusion as he got up, watching as he walked over to the shelf of games.

"Want to know what helps me when i'm anxious?" He asked, grabbing something off the shelf and holding it behind his back.

"What?" She asked, giving a soft smile as he pulled a medium sized box from behind his back.

"A good old game of Cards Against Humanity!"

Skye just looked more confused, raising an eye brow and crossing her arms as Agent May came by on her way to the cock pit.

"Don't tell me you're actually going to play that?" She asked, giving both of them an annoyed look as Emily and Fitz came in.

"Oh my God! I love that game!"Emily squealed, clapping her hands like an excited child, causing for Skye to laugh.

"Would you guys just tell me what Cards Against Humanity is?" She asked, following Emily, Fitz, and her boyfriend to sit on the floor by the couch as May returned to the cock pit, watching as Grant dealed out seven cards for each of them.

"It's like Apples to Apples but for horrible people! Each person gets seven white cards and there's a deck of black cards and one person reads a black card, and if it says, for example; "What does Sean Penn drop to the people of Haiti?" A bad question, I know, and you put your funniest white card down. The white cards range from Justin Bieber to Dead parents and Picking up girls from an abortion clinic. It gets so inappropriate that the game is for people that are eighteen or older. Will Maria be alright with you playing this game, Emily? Because i'd never admit it to her, but she kind of scares me, especially when she's angry, and I want to see my child be born, so..." Grant explained, trailing off as he held Skye's hand in his own.

"Are you kidding me? Maria loves this game! When we all went camping last summer, everyone played! Even Pepper enjoyed it! Lilith didn't play though. She was drawing by the river." She said, shrugging as she grabbed a black card.

"Wait..should we ask Simmons if she wants to play?" Fitz asked, stopping Emily from reading it.

"Last I checked she was changing Maria's bandages." Grant answered for Emily, nodding for her to read the card.

"I kind of feel bad that we're playing this and not with Maria." Skye said, earning a nod of agreement from Emily.

"Simmons told me to tell you that we should let Maria sleep and not worry too much about her." Fitz answered truthfully, nudging Emily with his elbow as he added, "Now read the card."

Emily gave a hesitant smile,"Okay, card number one; How does Bruce Wayne occupy his time?"

Maria awoke in a great deal of pain some time later, looking at the clock on the wall to see it was nearly three in the afternoon. In the corner of the room was an ultrasound machine which she only assumed was to monitor Skye's pregnancy, and in a chair to her right, seemingly asleep, was Simmons. Her right arm was in a sling and it hurt like hell and she almost didn't notice that she was wearing a white t-shirt and light blue pajama pants that Simmons must've grabbed from her suit case.

Sighing, she sat up in bed and slowly took the covers off, swinging both of her feet to the side.

"And where do you think you're going?" A voice asked, making her turn abruptly, ignoring the pain in her neck as she met Jemma's gaze. Jemma got up and helped Maria put both of her feet in the bed and put the covers back on.

"You need to rest. We won't be back in New York until early tomorrow morning. We have to stop and refuel and restock on food according to Coulson."

Maria sighed, "Simmons, i'm fine. I think i've slept for long enough." She said, nodding to the clock.

"You can never get enough sleep under these circumstances. Now, I should go get Coulson, he'll want to know that you're awake." She explained, leaving the room quickly.

The Agent waited for Simmons' footsteps to fade before she threw the covers off her once more and set both of her bare feet on the cold tile floor, her thigh screaming in protest as she quietly opened the sliding glass door and limped over to the spiral staircase, painfully making her way up them, only one thought in mind.

Emily.

All she wanted to do was make sure that her sister was alright as she reached the top of the stairs and made her way towards the sound of laughter to find Emily with Fitz, Ward, and Skye, all of them seemingly unaware of her presence.

"Don't tell me you're playing this game." She said, crossing her arms and raising an eye brow at them.

"Maria!" Emily exclaimed, putting her cards face down before she ran to hug the older woman, careful not to hurt her.

"Aren't you supposed to be resting?" Fitz asked, looking up at her.

Maria was about to respond when Simmons voice interrupted her.

"Maria Hill! What did I tell you about resting? When I returned with Coulson you weren't there! You had us worried sick!" The English woman ranted, sounding more like a mother scolding her child for running off.

"Jemma, I already told you. I feel fine." She lied, wanting to get the biochemist off her back.

"You most certainly are not fine! Now get your arse back to bed before I hit you with a frying pan!"

Maria waved off the threat, "Wouldn't be the first person to hit me over the head with an inanimate object."

Simmons sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose, She's more difficult than Skye was. She thought, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath before opening them again.

"Look, we can do this the easy way or the hard way. You can either go downstairs and rest willingly, or I sedate you until we get to New York." She threatened, crossing her arms.

Maria sighed, about to give in when Skye spoke, "How about she stays up here and rests on the couch? That way we don't have to constantly go down and check on her?"

Maria looked at Coulson who had stayed quiet and watched the dispute with amusement.

"Take it or leave it."

She sighed and went to lie down on the couch, Simmons placing a blanket on top of her as Coulson looked at what the group was playing, his eyes lighting up when he recognized the game.

"Are you playing Cards Against Humanity?

Everyone looked up at him with wide eyes, assuming they were gonna get into trouble.

"Well, uh...you see_" They started, struggling to come up with a reason before Coulson cut them off.

"I love that game! Can I play?"

The four on the ground looked at each other.

"Sure!" Emily said excitedly, speaking for all of them as they all moved over to make room for Simmons and Coulson while Maria rolled her eyes while Skye handed each of them seven white cards.

"You do realize that we're all agents on a mission and playing games, right?" Maria asked, raising an eye brow as she examined the cards she had.

Everyone looked at her.

"Yeah, and?"

Maria sighed, defeated, "Just making sure you knew that."

A/N: Let me know what y'all think! I figured we could use a more relaxed chapter after all this drama :) please review :)
