Skye nodded excitedly and followed Jemma out of the kitchen, stopping to see a passed out Emily and Maria.
"Should we wake them up and ask if they want to come?" She asked, looking at the biochemist and the specialist, who shrugged.
"Leave them...Maria at least. You don't want to wake her up." Coulson said as he came out of his office, smiling at the three of them as they all went down stairs back to the small room, where the bed that Maria had been in earlier that morning was made with new sheets with the ultrasound machine directly to the left of the bed.
"Can we find out the gender today, Jem?" Skye asked excitedly, jumping on the bed and lying down.
"It all depends on the position of the baby, Skye. You're sixteen weeks now, right?" Jemma asked, getting out a clipboard and a pen and writing information down.
"Yes I am!"
Jemma nodded, "Any bleeding and/or cramping? What about any nausea?"
Skye sighed, "No bleeding or cramping, but the nausea comes and goes."
"Some women do get nausea for their whole pregnancy." Jemma said, scribbling it down on her clipboard making Skye giggle.
"So professional, Jem. How do you know so much about pregnancy?"
Jemma sighed, "I may have gone to med school for a short time before going to SHIELD Academy."
Fitz gawked at her, "You went for a week before SHIELD recruited you to be a biochemist!" He exclaimed, raising his voice only to lower it as not to wake the two that were asleep upstairs.
Jemma sighed, ignoring Fitz's comment before putting the clipboard down and wrapping a band around Skye's upper arm and checking her blood pressure.
"Blood pressure looks good. Completely normal. Now, if you would just lay down on the bed and lift up your shirt we can get started." Simmons said, smiling at them as Fitz left the room, feeling awkward.
Simmons rolled her eyes at Fitz as she reached under one of the cabinets to get the gel that she had picked up at one of their stops a few weeks back and squeezed it onto Skye's baby bump.
Skye cringed at the gel, surprised at how cold it was as Simmons turned on the machine and placed the wand on Skye's belly, rolling it around until a clear image of what they could make out as the baby came on the screen.
"So, that's your baby. Aww look at how cute it is! There's it's feet, it's head, and it's hands! Aww they look so tiny right now!" Jemma gushed, making Skye roll her eyes.
"Doctor Simmons is gone and the biochemist, childish Simmons is back." Skye teased, wiping away the tears that threatened to fall as Grant stared in awe before he turned and kissed her on the lips before quickly pulling away when they realized that Coulson was in the room.
"You're going to be a great mother, Skye." He told her, squeezing her hand reassuringly as she smiled at him, all worries vanishing once she realized that she wasn't alone anymore just as she had been when she was living in her van.
"I love you, Grant. And I love our baby."
"I love you too, and I'll always love you and our baby."
Skye smiled, looking back at her dad and seeing that he hurried to wipe away the tears falling down his face.
"Dad, are you crying?" She asked, shocked to see her father actually crying.
"Don't worry, sweetheart. They're happy tears," Coulson said before sighing and getting up, kissing Skye on the forehead as he added, "Excuse me. I have to make a call to Director Fury."
Simmons cleared her throat as Coulson left, drawing Skye and Grant's attention back to the screen.
"The baby's in a great position to know the gender. Although i'm only eighty percent certain of the gender now, i'll be more certain once you're eighteen weeks. Would you like to know?"
Skye and Grant both nodded enthusiastically.
This was what they had both been waiting for.
Simmons nodded, "Well, congratulations. It looks to me like you're having a little baby girl!"
