A/N: Hey guys! Sorry I haven't updated in awhile, but i'm back now! I've been kind of busy doing other fanfictions, so here's this chapter. I really hope you like it. But you guys are probably going to end up hating me for this LAST chapter!

Skye woke up the next morning to a faint cry coming from her left.

And so it begins. She thought, sighing as she painfully sat up, wondering when the doctor was going to bring her the morphine. She turned her head to see Coulson cradling little Maddie gently in his arms.

"Dad? Where's Grant?" Skye asked, raising an eye brow at her father, who gave her a warm smile as he handed the whimpering baby.

"He went down to the cafeteria to get the two of you some coffee. He didn't want to wake you so I offered to stay." He explained as the baby's whimpering became slightly louder, "I think she's hungry."

Skye nodded and pulled down her hospital gown just enough to expose her breast to the infant as her dad politely averted his gaze.

There was a light knock on the door.

"Who's there?" Skye called, her voice soft enough not to disturb Madison.

"It's Emily and I brought a couple friends and two small children who want to see you!" Emily said.

"Let them in, dad." Skye said as Madison finished feeding and Coulson went to the door, opening it to reveal Emily and another boy and girl that looked not much older than her with an older man, Lilith, and another little girl who appeared no older than two or three.

"Skye, this is my friend Peter Parker and my other friend, his girlfriend, Mary Jane. We call her MJ though. This is Sam Wilson, Steve's friend from DC, and Alexa. Maria and Steve's adopted daughter." Emily explained, nodding to the others who accompanied her.

"So this is the Sam I've heard so much about. Well, you've got a great taste in guys, Em. I'll give you that. It's nice to meet all of you." Skye said, shaking all of their hands with her free hand and smiling down at the dark haired child that held tightly to Emily's jeans.

"Would you guys like to hold Maddie?" Skye asked, and handed the baby to Sam.

"Well, she sure does look like you." Sam said, passing the baby to MJ.

"Yeah. She's six pounds."

MJ turned to Peter, "Want to hold her?"

Peter shook his head, "No thanks."

"Go ahead. Hold her, it's not like you'll drop her." Skye said, giving him a small smile.

"No thanks. I have to be somewhere, anyway. My aunt May will be wondering where I am." He said and went back to the door, opening it before he turned and flashed the baby in MJ's arms a sad smile before he left. Mary Jane sighed and handed Emily the baby before she followed.

"He hasn't been the same since Gwen died a year and a half ago. He loves MJ but…" Emily said, trailing off with a sigh.

"But Gwen was the first person he truly loved." Coulson finished, nodding in understanding.

"Yeah. MJ understands that though. We all do. He'll always love Gwen, but we know that MJ also has a special place in his heart." She said, handing Madison back to Skye and sitting on the edge of the bed.

"Peter is older, right?" Sam asked, looking at Emily.

Emily nodded, "Yeah. He and MJ were actually the first people to become my friends when I moved to New York in the fourth grade after my mom died. Then Gwen became my friend. They were in fifth grade. Two grades ahead of me and once I got to highschool, they actually defended me against bullies. They were the first people I told about my past." She explained as Grant came in with two cups of coffee, putting one on the bedside table and sitting down beside Skye, giving a curt nod to Sam.

Grant cocked his head to the side, "You got blue highlights." He stated, nodding at her, "It's nice."

"So you noticed it too? I thought I was just seeing things." Skye said, handing Maddie to Grant and reached up her hand and brushed a blue highlight behind Emily's right ear to reveal a small tattoo of three stars behind it, "And a tattoo. I like it."

"Should've seen Maria's reaction to both of these...oh and the tattoo on my back." She said, turning around so Skye could lift up the back of her white t-shirt to reveal the tattoo of three butterfly's. Each one a different color, "Maria walked in on my changing back in June and I was getting dressed because she was picking me up to bring me back to the tower. She walked in, saw my tattoo and highlights, and flipped. She nagged me the whole way to the tower."

"I don't see what Maria is mad about. They suit you. The color too." Sam said, shrugging as he picked up Alexa and Lili, placing both children on his lap.

"Right? Steve said the same thing! I asked his opinion and he looks at me, looks back at Maria, then back at me and goes, 'it looks...different...a good different.' almost like he was choosing his words carefully. She still grounded me."

"Your sister is the one that punishes you?"

"My dad and brother send me to Maria because they don't like punishing me."

"And those two...they're mutants." Grant said, nodding his head at Lili and Alexa.

"Yeah. We found out last year. Turns out, both of them had parents that were mutants, but they were killed. Both of them were in foster care though for quite some time. Aunt Shawna actually lost custody of AJ...that's Alexa's nickname. It was on Maria's call that she lost it too, but Shawna didn't really care...not as much as she should." Emily said, shrugging as she stole Grants coffee from him, taking a sip.

"What can they do? I thought mutant powers don't manifest in some until puberty?"

"Lili and AJ are special cases. Lili is telepathic and telekinetic, the professor believes that she might be as powerful as he is one day, which kind of worries all of us; and AJ can heal others, no matter what kinda injury they have, as well as herself. But that also means if she heals herself it will slow her aging, like Logan's for example. She also has death vision, meaning she can sense death. It's kind of creepy."

"Notice how her powers have to do with injuries or death."

"Hey she saved me! I was hurt pretty badly and I was actually dead for a little bit. All she had to do was touch me and I started breathing again. She stabilized me enough for me to get to the hospital."

"How'd you get hurt?"

Emily looked around and scratched the back of her head, "I'll text you with that explanation. I don't want to explain it in front of all of you."

They all nodded in understanding as Emily sighed, "I should go. I'll see all of you later."

Emily sighed once more and left with the two children and Sam in tow.

A few days later, Skye and Grant came home with Madison, carefully putting her in the bassinet beside Skye and Grants bed. She would sleep in here until she'd be able to sleep in her own room.

While she brushed a thumb against the infants small, fragile, face, she noticed that Grant seemed distressed.

"You okay?"

Grant shook his head, "No. There's something I need to tell you, Skye." He said, nodding his head to the door and taking her to the lab.

"FitzSimmons, May, if Coulson needs us, we'll be in the training room."

"Yes, Ward." FitzSimmons said smiling at them and giving them both a nod.

"May, if Maddie wakes up, can you come get us?" Grant asked, holding up the baby monitor and handing it to her.

"It would be my pleasure." She said, half sarcastically as Grant and Skye left the lab and went back to the training room.

"What is it, Grant?"

"You love me, right Skye?" Grant asked, sighing.

Skye gawked at him, "Of course I do! What is it?"

"Well…" Ward said, trailing off as he sighed and scratched the back of his head.

"Grant, you're scaring me. What is it?" Skye asked, looking at her fiancee with concern in her dark brown eyes.

"I was Hydra."
