Shopping, Bloodlines and Friends
When they arrived in the Leaky Cauldron, Edward felt like he was going to throw up. When he looked up, Snape was waiting for him. "Hurry up." Snape said, before walking out, and Edward quickly followed the spiteful Potions Master, who he already hated.
When Edward saw Snape walking up to a brick wall, he frowned, thinking that the professor was completely mad. When Snape drew his wand however, Edward understood and waited patiently. After Snape tapped the wall on certain bricks, they started to move, and he turned to Edward. "Remember the correct pattern. An adult will not always be around to help you." Snape said, and Edward nodded. He then turned and entered the alley, and Edward was amazed by what he saw, but didn't want to show it. When they walked through someone called out "Severus." They turned and saw a man with blonde hair, with who appeared to be his son, and two girls.
"Lucius. How are you?" Snape asked
"I'm taking Draco, Ms Parkinson and Ms Greengrass shopping for their school supplies. Why are you here? And who is the kid?" At the last question, Lucius turned a questioning eye to Edward.
"I was going to get some supplies, but got roped into bringing this boy along with me by McGonagall. I was wondering if you could take him shopping for me, then deliver him back. I have more important things to get on with." At this, Lucius' questioning look turned into a sneer, and then shock when Edward scowled back at him.
"Of course, where does he live?"
"He lives at." Snape paused. "Where do you live?" He asked, turning to Edward, who rolled his eyes.
"I live at Winfield House sir." He said, adding on the last bit as a sign of respect.
"Very well, I shall see you later Severus. Children come along." Lucius said, and the four children walked behind him.
The walk to Gringotts was not enjoyable for Edward. He had not been spoken too by anyone. As they entered the bank however, every goblin stopped and looked at him. They growled menacingly, with the warrior goblins moving to surround him, spears pointed then one walked towards Lucius. "Lord Malfoy, are you looking after this boy?"
"I am."
"What is your name boy?" The goblin said, turning its glare upon Edward.
"Edward Thorn." The goblins gasped, then all rushed back to work, their heads down, while the warriors all but ran to their original places. "Oh I am so sorry Heir Thorn. Please, come with me immediately, you too Lord Malfoy. As the present guardian, you must be there."
"What about the other children?" Lucius asked, perplexed at the change in tone from this goblin.
"Yes, yes they can come, now please follow me." As he said this, he started to walk away. The group followed him through a side door and through various corridors on the other side. Eventually, the group came to a set of doors with intricate carvings of battle. Opening the door, the group stepped inside, and the goblin that led them here disappeared. In front of them was a large desk, and sitting at it was yet another goblin. He looked up and smiled, which was more vicious than the glares in the main foyer.
"First off, I can see that you are not Damien Thorn, Lord Malfoy. As such, you and your party must either swear a wizard's oath to keep this secret, or leave now." Lucius looked at the goblin, then shrugged.
"I, Lucius Malfoy, hereby swear on my magic to keep the details of this meeting secret from all not involved until allowed to do so by its main benefactor. So mote it be." He said, a bright flash surrounding him when he finished. Draco, Pansy and Daphne followed suit.
"Now that is done, please sit down." The group sat, with Edward right in front of the goblin. "My name is Thornhammer, and I am head of Gringotts England. We have been expecting you for some time heir Thorn."
"Excuse me Thornhammer, but what is all this heir Thorn business?" Edward asked.
"All in due course heir Thorn. First of all I want you to do a test which will tell us all we need to know. That way, we can have one long explanation, rather than explaining everything as it comes up." Edward nodded, and Thornhammer stood. Edward followed, Lucius and the children following.
The group entered a chamber, with a small altar in the middle. "Come here please heir Thorn." Edward complied with Thornhammer's request, and walked towards the altar. "Place your hands on the altar please." Came the request, and he did so. He saw that the altar had a small basin, with three holes in it. "I will warn you Heir Thorn that this will be painful. When you are ready, place your hands over the two smaller holes." Thornhammer directed. Edward took a breath, then placed his hands over the holes. Suddenly, two spikes came through his hands, and he bit his tongue to stop himself from screaming. He looked as his blood flow down the centre hole, the spikes disappeared, and his hand healed, though they still ached a bit. A piece of parchment came out at the bottom, and Thornhammer picked it up and read it. "Well, this is interesting."
"What is interesting?" Edward asked.
"See for yourself Heir Thorn." Thornhammer said, handing over the parchment. Edward took, and read it.

Edward read it, and smiled at the amount of money he had in it. "Mr Malfoy, how much is the usual equipment for Hogwarts?"
"The average student requires around 200 galleons. However, the custom wands that we will be buying pushes it up to around 300 galleons for basic school supplies, with the most simple robes." Lucius said, looking at him with some interest.
"And the more expensive robes and best equipment?" Edward asked again, looking Lucius in the eye.
"For the best quality things, as well as the custom wand you are looking at around 1000 galleons per person."
"Bring me 5000 galleons please." Edward said, and the group struggled not to gape at the amount that he was withdrawing.
"I'm sorry Heir Thorn, but I cannot allow you to withdraw more than 1000 galleons at a time." Thornhammer said.
"Then bring me five bags of a thousand galleons separately please." Edward said, and Thornhammer smirked.
"Yes Heir Thorn." Thornhammer said, smiling, before shouting. "Griphook."
"Yes sir?"
"Bring five bags of 1000 galleons and the ring from The Vault for Heir Thorn please." Thornhammer requested, and Griphook's eyes widened.
"Yes sir." He said, and disappeared.
Griphook returned five minutes later with five bags, and a small wooden box. "Here we are sir."
"Thank you Griphook, you are dismissed." Thornhammer said, taking the bags and the box. Griphook bowed, and left.
"What is in the box?" Edward asked, eyeing it curiously.
"Your Lordship ring." At this, all five occupants looked at Thornhammer.
"My what?"
"Lordship Ring. As your father did not claim it, it passes to you, Lord Lucifer." Thornhammer said, opening the box and handing it over. Edward looked inside, and picked up the ring. It was solid gold, with a pentagram embossed in it. He took, and put it on. It sized immediately to him. Edward stood, and looked at Thronhammer.
"Thank you Thornhammer for your service. Good day to you." He said. Lucius got up, as did the others, and all four followed Lucius out. Edward came back in, only to grab his gold bags, and quickly left after them.
Although there was once again silence as they approached the custom wand shop, but this time it was one of surprise and awe at Edward. As they entered the shop, there were jars of liquids, boxes and blocks of wood adorning the sides of the wall. "Ah welcome to my shop. I am Augustus." A voice sounded, and from behind the counter revealed a balding grey haired man.
"Greetings Augustus." Lucius welcomed.
"Ah Lucius. Wands for these four?"
"Yes Augustus, it is that time once again."
"Indeed. Let's start with the one I don't know shall we?"
"Edward Thorn sir, pleased to meet you." Edward said, and Augustus backed off.
"What is he doing here Lucius? I only serve purebloods you know that."
"If he wasn't a pureblood, I wouldn't have brought him here. Trust me, he is a pureblood." Lucius said, and Augustus nodded.
"Very well. Go other there, pick up any wood and any core which you are drawn to, and put it on the side." Edward walked over to the side, and moved his hand along the wood shelf. Suddenly he felt drawn towards two boxes. He picked them up, and moved them over to the counter. He then did the same with the cores, and again found two that he liked. He picked them up, and moved those to the counter as well. Augustus, went and opened them. Then stood stock still.
"Augustus, are you alright?" Lucius asked.
"Of course, just surprised by his choices. Right, can I ask you to put one wood in the box marked handle, and one in the box marked body please." Augustus said, and Edward moved over to the counter once more. Thinking about it, he moved one into each, then stepped back. "Right, time to explain your wood choices. Your handle is made of Dogwood. This will make it more powerful whilst also signifying that you are quite violent. The body of the wand is from an ash tree, and will make your wand good for Transfiguration as well as the Dark Arts. Your cores are a frightening combination. One is liquid boomslang venom, and will again make it better for Transfiguration. The Doxy Wings make it an almost perfect Dark Arts wand."
"Almost Perfect?" Lucius asked, and Augustus turned to him.
"Yes Lucius. There are only two better cores for the Dark Arts than this, Basilisk Skin and Acromantula Silk. One I don't have and the other is illegal to use. I trust the knowledge of what is in this wand will not leave this room?" He asked, looking at Draco, Pansy and Daphne, who all shook their heads. "Good. Mr Thorn, if you wish, you may collect it in an hour or so. The price is 140 galleons." As he said this, Edward reached into his pocket, and threw a bag at him.
"Take the price of everyone's wands out of that. I'll head to Madam Malkins." Edward said, and he walked out the door.
Ten minutes later saw Edward still waiting for his turn when the group entered the shop. "Hello Edward. Draco Malfoy." Edward turned to see Draco holding out his hand. Edward took it almost immediately.
"Edward Thorn, pleased to make your acquaintance."
"Malfoy!" shouted someone, and they both turned to see a red-headed boy coming into the shop.
"Weasleys. Don't bother with them Edward." Draco said, and they continued waiting.
"I'm talking to you, you slimy snake." The boy said, shoving Edward to the floor to get to Draco. "You walking around with your whores then?"
"How dare you insult them like that. They are not that sort of thing at all."
"What are they then?" The boy said. Edward, having finally got up, walked up behind him, grabbed him, and turned him around.
"Listen here. I don't like you. I don't like your attitude, and I don't like how you insult those who I consider friends. Now go away." Edward said, looking at the boy's eyes the entire time.
"Too scared to tell me off properly?" The boy said, before spitting at him.
"No, I have manners. Leave NOW!" Edward said, wanting to scare him away, and imbuing power into his last word. Scared, the boy ran off.
"Thank you." One of the girls, with blue eyes and blonde hair said.
"No problem Ms. I'm sorry, I don't know your name."
"I'm Daphne Greengrass, and that is Pansy Parkinson."
"Well then, no problem Daphne, Pansy. It is all I could do to kick a very rude boy out of here."
"Next please." A girl called, and they all stepped into the measuring room.
"Hogwarts Robes made from the finest materials please. For four." Edward said.
"Why are you paying for us?" Pansy asked.
"Because I can, and I can't use this much money." Edward said.
After going back to collect their wands, as well as leaving with his change for buying all four of them, headed to the pet store. "Right, each of you choose one, I will go and pay for your potions equipment. Edward, we haven't got time for the bookstore for you, so I will grab an order form, and a catalogue and you can order your books."
"Okay Mr Malfoy." Edward said, and they went into the pet store. As they entered, the noise from the animals stopped. They all turned towards Edward, and many attacked their cages at him. Edward walked through the cages, glaring at the animals. They backed off as he got closer, and he approached the birds. They screeched at him, till he came to a single cage. It contained a raven, and was looking at him carefully. He opened the cage, and it hopped out on to him. It cawed at him, and flew to his shoulder. He proceeded to the counter. "How much for Lilith?" he asked, and the man looked shocked.
"Who?"
"Lilith." Edward said, holding the raven towards him.
"You can have that one for free, as long as you get out of my store, the chaos is rampant." Edward brightened at this, and walked straight out. As he did, Lucius met him outside with his other supplies, apart from the books.
"Here is your order form. Order your books from it, and send your raven to take it. You are aware that Ravens are not allowed at Hogwarts?"
"Usually yes, but she says that as my familiar she is allowed." Edward said, taking the order form. The other three then stepped out, with Pansy and Draco having owls, and Daphne brining out a kitten.
"Let us depart then." Lucius said, and they left the alley.
