"So he's leaving a life he's come to know, He's leaving on that midnight train… I'll be with him …..I'd rather live in his world…than live without him in mine…For love I got to go… with him… my world, his world, my man, his girl"-Gladys Knight &The Pips
John had told her that he was leaving because it was too dangerous for him to stay in New York. After a lot of thinking she did what she had too, she said goodbye to the people closest to her and set her plan into motion.
After calling in her favor to Elias, she got a call two hours later telling her that her plan had worked, there was no turning back now, Jocelyn Carter was dead.
Joss stood in the train station looking at the ticket that had mysteriously been paid for already. She would be on the midnight train to Georgia sitting in seat 42B . She had subtly changed her looks by cutting her hair and giving herself highlights it was enough to fool a regular security camera if she kept her face down.
As she heard her boarding call Joss grabbed her bag and made her way to her train. She moved to the back of the train until she saw him, sitting in 42A looking out the window. Even if he was able to come back to New York after their problem was solved, it would be too dangerous for them both if they continued to see each other. After a lot of soul searching and decision making she decided that she'd rather live the life of a dead woman in his world, then be without him in her world.
Joss put her bag in the overhead bin and sat down next to him; she removed her hood and hat and turned to face him. When he finally saw her reflection in the glass he whipped his head around and looked at her like she was an alien.
He stared at her and then closed his eyes, she was waiting for him to tell her to leave and go back home, but he didn't. Instead he lifted the arm rest that was between them and put his arm around her and pulled her close and kissed her forehead.
Joss smiled up at him as she curled up in the train seat and leaned further into John's side and closed her eyes as the train pulled away from the station.
