Chapter 33: Bad news

Once the courier had the letter he mounted the quickest horse they had at the post office and raced to the battlefield.

When he arrived at the battlefield he demanded to see Blaine, saying he had an urgent matter dealing with his husband.

He was lead to a tent where Blaine sat at his fathers side.

"Prince Blaine?" He asked as he entered the tent.

"Yes." Blaine said as he turned around to see the courier.

"Who are you, what are you doing here? I told them that I wasn't to be disturbed." Blaine asked looking really tired.

"I have an urgent matter about your husband." The courier calmly stated.

"What is it?" Blaine asked looking panicked.

"You should read this." The courier said handing Blaine the letter.

Blaine opened the letter as he sat himself down in the chair.

As he read the letter he began crying.

"You should leave, I'm going to get my stuff and speed home." Blaine said and then turned around to his father.

"Dad, I'm sorry I have to leave, there is nothing to be done here anymore." Blaine said not noticing that his fathers chest had stopped moving.

He went to his own tent and grabbed his bag ordered a servant to get his horse ready and then another servant came running at him.

"Sir, you're father, he's passed away." The servant said.

"That's impossible I was with him just a few minutes ago." Blaine said.

"The doctor went to inspect him and he didn't have a pulse my lord." The servant said.

"Should the doctor make up a report to send to the queen." The servant asked.

"No, I am heading to the palace right now, I shall inform her." Blaine said and then his horse was brought to him, he mounted his horse and sped towards the palace.

1 day later

"Where is he?" Blaine yelled as he entered the palace.

"Follow me." A servant said to Blaine.

"Who are you, I haven't seen you before." Blaine said.

"I'm Cas." He said and the gestured to follow him.

"He's in here." Cas said as he opened the door to the doctors office.

"Your mother is with him." Cas continued as Blaine walked in a little scared of what he would see.

"Oh God." Blaine said as he heard the door close behind him.

"Blaine." Catherine said as she hugged him as she saw the tears in his eyes.

"Has he gotten any better?" Blaine asked sitting into the chair placed next to Kurt's bed and grabbed Kurt's hand.

"No, but he hasn't gotten any worse either. The doctor said that he would get any better in the first few days. He's been administrating the antidote every few hours." Catherine said.

"Do I have to leave you alone for a while." She asked.

"No, I don't wanna be alone." Blaine said fearing what would happen if he was left alone."

"He's going to be fine." Catherine said sitting down next to her own son.

"I know he will, but what about our little boy." Blaine asked.

"He won't be affected." Catherine said.

"The doctor made sure nothing would hurt him." She continued.

"That's a relief." Blaine said and kissed Kurt's hand.

That evening

"Mom." Blaine said as he opened the door to his mothers room.

"Yes, come in Blaine." Catherine said as she sat down on her bed.

"I have some bad news about dad." Blaine said sitting down in the chair placed at the desk.

"He's gone isn't he?" Catherine said.

"Yes, he got injured during a battle. His artery was hit we managed to stop the bleeding but it got infected." Blaine said.

"I was with him during everything." Blaine continued.

"That's good. Thank you for telling me." Catherine said and then asked for Blaine to go to his own room.

Blaine walked to his and Kurt's room and cried himself to sleep hoping that Kurt and his little boy would make it.
