Joss rushed to the black unmarked car, as she approached the car she popped the trunk and tossed the duffel bag full of guns and ammunition into the truck.
After she shut the trunk she hurriedly entered the car and started the engine. Joss pulled out her phone and reread the text as she pulled away from the curb. After a few minutes she pulled in to an alleyway alongside the apartment building she and John had been staying in.
They never stayed in one place for too long. Over the past year, she and John had purposely been leading Decima on a while goose chase that spanned four continents and 15 different countries. Their main objective was to keep Decima focused on them while Root and Finch tried to destroy Samaritan.
Joss sat in the car waiting for John as he took care of the assassin that Decima hired to eliminate them. As she waited for John to exit the building she couldn't help but get lost in her thoughts.
As she sat back and examined her life so far she would have never guessed she'd be in Amsterdam living a virtual life of a criminal on the run. She remembered the look on her mother's face and the tears in her eyes as she told her what she was going to do.
Her mother had begged her to reconsider and to think about the life she was throwing away to follow some man. She even tried to throw Taylor into her argument to stop her form running off with some criminal.
Although she did worry about Taylor's safety, Paul's fiancee's status helped her come to her decision to leave Taylor with his father. Paul had been dating the Secretary of Defense's daughter and before the Decima mess started they got engaged. Even if Decima realized she faked her own death they wouldn't go after her Mother, Paul or Taylor because as bold and as well connected as Decima was, trying to kill or harm the Secretary of Defense's about to be son-in-law or his child was foolish.
Joss's thoughts were disrupted when she heard the emergency exit door swing open, as she looked up she saw John approaching the car. As he opened the driver's side door she quickly slid into the passenger's seat.
As she watched John slide into the driver's seat he handed her his gun and pulled out of the alleyway. As they sat at a red light Joss looked at John. Her mother's last words to her before she left was 'why?'.
The answerer was simple and complicated all at once. Although she knew what she was doing was dangerous and could end her life in a hail of bullets she didn't care, she was in love and love made a person do crazy things.
Joss was brought out of her thoughts when John asked her where she wanted to go next. She smiled and leaned over the gear shift and kissed him and said that Barcelona was nice this time of year.
