Let me be the one to hold you…let me be the one to show you…I'm the one who wants to be with you Deep inside I hope you feel it too Waited on a line of greens and blues Just to be the next to be with you, you can make my life worthwhile, and I can make you start to smile" –Mr. Big
John sat across the street on the rooftop of a brownstone looking through his binoculars into her living room window. He was waiting for Joss to get home from work. Ever since she grabbed his arm in the hallway of the DOD, things had changed between them.
Ever since his life spiraled out of control, he came to accept that he was going to die, alone and forgotten. But in that moment, when she grabbed his arm, he realized someone cared about him, someone wanted to be his savior, someone would mourn his death, and that someone was Joss.
At first he was reluctant to acknowledge his feelings for her but no matter how hard he tried to suppress them; they would always come back ten times stronger. When he finally stopped procrastinating about his feelings, she had started dating Beecher. He hadn't intentionally wished for her relationship with Beecher to end, but when it had ended he was glad. Because now he had a chance to be with her.
Last week he decided to stop waiting and do something about the way he felt before someone else tried to cut in front of him for her affection. After about two days of planning and some help from some very expensive florist that Finch had on speed dial, he was ready to ask Joss out on a date.
He had 'let himself into her home' an hour ago and had strategically placed twenty dozen red roses around her living room and one white rose in the center of her living room, in front of the window, whose drapes he had intentionally left open. Attached to the white rose was a simple card asking her if she would go out with him.
John was brought out of his thoughts as he saw her pull up in front of her house. He watched as she walked through the front door reading a piece of mail as she carelessly tossed her keys on the hallway table. His eyes followed her as she turned the lights on. Once the house was illuminated, she jumped and dropped her mail as she looked at all of the flowers.
He almost laughed when her first instinct was to grab her gun. After she realized there was no danger she slowly made her way to the single white rose and picked and read the card.
He almost lost his breath as he saw, what he could only describe as the most beautiful smile he had ever seen on her face. He didn't even realize he was smiling until his cheeks started to hurt.
John felt his phone vibrate,he reached into his pocket and pulled it out and saw that Joss was calling him.
