"You're my world, my heart, my soul, If you ever leave, Baby you would take away everything good in my life, And tell me now How do I live without you? I don't know what I would do, I'd be lost if I lost you"- Leann Rimes

Joss got out of the car as she and Fusco made their way toward the crime scene. She looked at the covered body lying under the sheet on the street as she pulled on a pair of gloves.

'You're not going to believe this... did you hear they think it's the vigilante that has been running around the city, you know the man in the suit, unlucky bastard caught a bullet to the head.'

Joss felt the air leave her lungs as she overheard the uniforms talking about the dead body. Before she knew what she was doing she rushed over to the body. As she got closer she saw Fusco quickly pull the sheet back up as he stood up and tried to stop her from looking.

She didn't care if she was causing a scene she pushed out of Fusco's hold and dropped to her knees and yanked the sheet back to see her worst nightmare come true.

She stared at John's lifeless eyes and the bullet hole in his head. She felt her breathing stop and her whole body go cold as his name ripped from her throat.

"Joss ! Joss! Are you okay? What's wrong?"

Joss sat up in bed covered in a cold sweat. She covered her heart as she felt her heart beating against her ribcage. She quickly wiped the tears from her face as she turned her head and looked at John's startled and alert face.

She looked at him and pulled the bed sheets back as she looked him over to make sure he was really okay. After she gained her composure and found her voice.

"I'm fine it was a bad dream…just a really bad dream."

She slowly laid back down and pulled the covers back up. As soon as her head hit the pillow she felt John wrap his arm around her waist and pull her closer. She turned on her side and snuggled into his chest as he kissed her forehead.

After about an hour he fell back asleep and as she listened to his soft breathing and his steady and even heartbeat, the memories of her nightmare played on rewind in her head.

A nightmare which had the potential to become a very grim reality, given John's line of work and the constant danger he put himself in.

As she lay awake in the silence of their bedroom all she could think about was how she would live on if anything ever happened to John.
