A/N:

To start: I do apologise on my lack of updates over the last few weeks. I hope I haven't lost any of you. Everything went haywire at the same time!

But I'm back. And here's your next chapter:

"So what did Tilly do?" Coulson asked Ward later while she was in the Lab with Fitz-Simmons.

"She shot Maria. I don't know where but apparently it was an accident."

"She shot Maria Hill?"

"Apparently."

They were watching the lab cameras hoping to pick something up.

"Gaahhh" Simmons cried.

Her and Fitz were trying to recreate the element that caused the mass combustion,Tilly was reading the research paper. As it turned out the Author was one of her university professors and he had taught her about the principle of hyper-excited water molecules and she had written her dissertation on the subject.

"What's wrong?" Tilly asked, looking up.

"No matter what we try, we can't get this element right."

"Are you sure you want to?"

"We need to know what it is so we can stop it from happening again."

"I would rather be a few miles away when you try it though."

"Why's that?"

"According to this research and the research I conducted for my dissertation the waves that excite the molecules can pass through everything. The amount of the element determines how far the waves travel. The further you are away from it the slower it is; which just means you burn slower."

Simmons and Fitz dropped their tools and stepped away from the Lab table after this speech.

"How did you manage to avoid a fiery death then?" Fitz asked her skeptically.

"I couldn't make the element. When I handed my dissertation in it was still a theory."

"It's come a long way in the last few months then. We don't even know what this element is called" Simmons pointed out.

Tilly's mobile phone rang. She looked at the caller I.D and cancelled the call.

"Who was that?"

"Ex boyfriend. Keeps calling me since Grant gave him a flea in his ear."

The phone rang again. This time Tilly answered it.

"What the hell do you want? I thought I had made it clear I don't want you to talk to me. Leave me alone or I will break your nose again."

She hung up and it immediately started to ring again, which made Tilly scream in frustration. She then noticed the caller ID was that of her old professor. Calming herself down she pressed answer and loudspeaker.

"Matilda. It was a pleasant surprise when I got your voicemail to call you. I hope you are well."

"I'm fine professor. I'm being well looked after. I wanted to talk to you about your research on hyper-excited water molecules."

Coulson and Ward were still watching the monitors a few hours later when the three scientists took a break. in the LoungeThey had seen Tilly say something to Fitz-Simmons who immediately downed tools. They saw Tilly check her phone and then answer it. Ward could tell that she was frustrated and decided that Harvey was behind it. He then saw her calm herself down and answer the phone. Whoever was on the other end of the line was clearly a scientist, as Fitz and Simmons were taking notes.

"How's it going?" Coulson asked, passing Simmons a bottle of water.

"We now know that the element was created and that we won't be attempting to recreate it on the bus."

"Is that it?" Kain asked, bored.

"Yes. These things take time and when you are dealing with an unknown element it's a little difficult to research it when it still, according to the scientific community doesn't exist." Simmons said without taking a breath.
