Fitz and Simmons were working on stopping the Eridine from absorbing the Gravitonium. It was proving difficult as all they had to work with was chemical compositions of the two compounds. Even if they had a small sample of the two they would have been reluctant to use them. Turning everyone to ash is the last thing they wanted to do.
"So water and foam aren't going to work. Water could make the problem worse and Foam would be useless as there was no fire.
Skye came out of the workout room rubbing her neck. Since Ward had left May had volunteered to put her through her paces.
"You ok?" Simmons asked.
"Yeah. Just strained my neck a little." Skye replied
"Let me see." Simmons said, guiding Skye into a seat.
She put her hands on Skye's neck and felt the heat erupting from her strained muscles.
"I think we had better get some ice on that."
"Simmons, you're a genius!" Fitz exclaimed.
"What did I say?"
"Ice. If we cool all of the water particles in the vicinity then it will take longer to heat, meaning we have more time to destroy the device."
"But how do we chill people on a massive scal... Oh!"
"What?" Skye asked. She hated it when they did this.
"Do you remember the device that caused so many problems freezing water particles at Sci Acc a couple of years ago?"
"Erm... Sure." Skye was nervous. She had seen what that device could do.
"Well, Fitz and I designed it. We could alter the programme a little to make it work for us in the way we need it to."
"I will leave you to that." Skye said, pulling her laptop towards her.
She pulled the footage they had found back up to re analyse. They hadn't been able to get a shot of the face of the man who planted the device, which was unfortunate. She was getting nowhere on the video feed, so she changed her tactic. She re-hacked into the system holding the video footage and pulled up the feed from the street. She watched it through a few times. It helped her see patterns and anomilies.
What she saw was a black van pull up outside and a man get out. He opened the side door and got a machine out, before heading into the dining hall of the building. There was nothing unusual about this to begin with, as black vans supplying the audio equipment and catering for the party had been arriving all day and dropping things off. What was unusual about this van is that it had no decal's on it. Skye zoomed in on the man entering the building.
It was the same man that had planted the Eridine cage.
The angle of the camera would not allow her to zoom in on the driver. She zoomed in and used the pixilation programme to clarify the image. Still nothing. Then she noticed the refection in the wing mirror. She zoomed in on the mirror and clarified the image. She backed up from her laptop, colour draining from her face.
Simmons noticed the movement out of the corner of her eye and looked up.
"Skye?" She asked, as she noticed her starting to shake.
Skye didn't respond so Simmons walked over to her. She took one look at the laptop and saw what Skye had freaked out over.
She was looking at an image of none other than Ian Quinn.
Simmons put her arm around Skye and led her away from the Lab and into the lounge. She poured her a scotch and sat with her, forcing her to drink it. Skye felt the warmth spread through her body.
"Everything alright?" Coulson asked, sticking his head into the Lounge. Simmons got up off the sofa and made her way over to Coulson.
"Quinn is behind all of this." She told him softly so Skye wouldn't hear.
"We have confirmation?"
"She analysed the video footage and found out he was driving the van."
"Damn." Coulson cursed, pulling out his phone. He dialled a number.
"Hey guys." Tilly said into the receiver.
"Put him on." Coulson ordered.
Tilly handed the phone to Ward.
"Coulson?"
"Ward. We have a situation here. We need to drop Skye off with you and Tilly. Where are you?"
"We are at the base of the Inca Trail. Where are you?"
"Airport."
"OK. We'll come to you."
Coulson hung up without another word as he made his way into the Lounge and sat next to Skye.
"I'm dropping you off with Ward and Tilly." He said.
"You don't have to. I'm fine."
"No you're not. You froze at the sight of him on the video feed. Seeing him in person will be worse. A lot worse."
"Can I help you find him at least?"
"You have until Ward and Tilly arrive to get you."
"Ok."
Skye got up off the sofa and went back to the Lab, taking her scotch with her. She sat back by her laptop and started typing. She used every method she had used before to track Ian Quinn. She also set up a programme that would find him after she had left the 'bus. She didn't want to leave because, without Ward she felt that her team needed her, but she was wary of straying into his path again.
Just as Coulson got a call that Ward and Tilly had returned to the airport, Skye's laptop went 'ping'.
"Leave it. Fitz-Simmons will check it out." Coulson ordered. Skye obeyed, and somewhat reluctantly followed Coulson out into the airport.
